Adjust your expectations and all is good. These types of accommodations in Budapest are a dime a dozen and the goal is to find accommodation that checks most of your boxes. My experience...very friendly, easy going reception staff. There is luggage storage if you arrive early and your room is not ready...great for exploring and grabbing a bite to eat in the hundreds of cafes, restaurants, kiosk establishments in the downtown area and in particular in this area. I stayed in Block II Floor 4. I received a two level suite with the following .... main floor is kitchen, bathroom (sink toilet), closet storage, kitchen (stove, sink, microwave, kettle, safe, cooking pots and cutlery and fridge - enough to prepare meals). Upstairs...separate bedroom with landing overlooking floor below..bedroom had door as well as adjoining bathroom. Bathroom had Jacuzzi tub (apparently not connected...a new Jacuzzi tub that functioned as a tub only), sink, toilet, towel warmer and a decent size...downside...no lights worked in the unit and perhaps that is the reason the Jacuzzi did not work...was not a burned out light bulb and no lights worked including the light over the mirror...took a bath in the dark...which was relaxing in any case...downstairs issues...stove and hood fan did not work..called maintenance who advised someone would drop by...they never did. Wanted to boil eggs....put them in the kettle and hard boiled them that way.....nice touch was a few coffee and tea samples to get you going until you could venture out. Glasses, wine glasses and coffee cups included as well as well as dishes. Sponge cleaner and wall soap dispenser as well. Small TV with no English Channels..watched 2 and 1/2 month in Hungarian..did not laugh as did not understand. TV was a diversion at best but you are not in Budapest to watch TV. Downstairs sofa opened into a bed as well but it was large enough to sleep on without opening and came with extra pillows and covers. It was fine. Refurbishment included extra double glazed windows being installed over existing windows to cut down noise from party central downstairs...this room was on the backside I understand so did not get the full noise effect..I felt only deep bass from time to time. Recall that these buildings are very very old and they have been refurbished. Kitchen and décor was now Ikea so clean and functional and new. Heavy door so I felt safe although you need to key for security locks in order to access the building in any case. I did not have time to use the 10 Euro reduced day pass to Holmes Place as there was plenty to do otherwise. I suggest a mix of grocery stores and preparing your own food and sampling the great variety of local and foreign dishes. Kiraly Street is a up and coming street still rough around the edges but moving in the right direction. Internet was free but spotty but worked well when it worked. Heat was too high but expected with buildings of this type with hot water heating. Might be an issue in summer as there appears to be no insulation and no cooling - many windows to open including skylights but that allows noise in. Recommend the Godzsu Court...adjust expectations a tiny bit however.
Love love loved this apartment. Its actually nicer than my house!!! Possibly more spacious as well! Situated in a lovely gated space filled with fun, funkey, bohemian little bars and restaurants and guarded by a security guard Felt safe, friendly and welcoming with plenty of handy cash machines about the place Easy to find reception where the syaff were friendly and helpfull and spoke brilliant english 1 bed appartment was HUGE!! Full kitchen with all the gadgets and equipment Table and chairs to seat 4 Laminate flooring thru out Big comfee sofa which becomes a sofa bed Big tv with lots of chanals Our own in room wireles router 2 bathrooms (yes 2!!! - thats 1 each) Big comfee so called ''double'' bed with lots of douvets and pillows (Was actually 2 singles pushed together tho.... And did have 2 single quilts instead of 1 double.... Dont know why...slight down side i guess) There was even a balcony and a washing Machine. (Didnt use either of them.) Lovely and warm - lots of self controlable radiators Spotlesly clean and new towel delivered every 2nd day Fantastic location - smack bang in the middle if city centre, only a few mins walk from a 24hr mini mart and a costa cofee right next door... Not to mention the lovely cute fun little bar and resterount complex it stands inside of. Really couldnt ask for more!! Despite proximity to...everything! Once the door was closed we had ZERO road noise or desterbence. A surprisingly, blissfully, silent night! Staff were lovely friendly and helpful and spoke good english and were able to hold our luggage till our flight. Good transport links. Kust a 2 min wander from metro, bus and air port shuttles Highly recomendewould definatly stay again
The apartment has a great location in the 7th district (jewish district) of Budapest. It is surrounded by restaurants and bars and with walking distance to the city center. We rented an apartment that would sleep 4 people. Luckily our 4th friend didn't make it, otherwise there would not have been enough room to sleep properly. The apartment had 1 queen bed and 1 sofa which you could pull out and make into a bed. But it was a poor bed. The sofa was crooked and half broken. But my overall expression is good. The value for money and the location is all worth it.
The hotel is offering mainly pretty huge apartments, offering a nice space. Our apartment (not in the hotel building) was at the top-floor, so earlier complaints we saw on noisy rooms did not apply for us. You might want to ask explicitly for a quiet room, since some facilities are in the middle of the booming nightlife in Pest. Apartment was big, but offered only two beds, too little if you want to use it with more people. Service was professional. Main problems was when we entered the hotel at the night-life street, the entrance was not easy to located. But now we found it, we will use them again at a next visit to Budapest.
A really cheap but well equipped place to say. Bit hard to find for me but once there clean well situated close to everything. A word of warning they only take cash like many places in Budapest at the moment. But never the less great value. Advice take Euros
Gozsdu Court Apartments are smack-bang in the middle of the party and bar scene of Budapest. The rooms are large, clean and a stone throws away from hundreds of restaurants, bars and clubs. The staff is friendly and helpful and there's even an underground parking garage available (for 12E/day/car) for which you can pay directly at the reception. There is some noise during the weekend nights from the clubs below, but it is to be expected. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to stay in Budapest (especially if partying is your thing)
Stayed here for 2 nights Nov 17, 18. It's a spacious apartment with a great kitchen, 4 burner induction stove, vessels etc. it's in a heritage neighborhood with great connectivity. Deak Ferenc ter is just 100 m away and Prima supermarket too, sadly the bedroom is very tight, the door can't even fully open. The architect has placed the wall in the wrong position. Didn't matter much to us as son used the sofa for sleeping. Lot of noise, did not matter to us as we are sound sleepers. They arranged airport pickup at 25 euros, then an early morning drop at Keleti . The same transfer service picked us at Keleti and dropped us at an airport hotel at the end of our trip for just 5500forints. AWESOME!
The apartment I had (which was on the first floor in block 7) was very nice, spacious and well equipped, the location was good and central, and the reception staff were nice. So, when I arrived at 2pm, I was very happy. But it was a different story when I returned at 9pm to booming rave-style music from a bar beneath. It was a Tuesday night, so I thought it would stop before midnight. But it went on until 3am and I barely got any sleep as a result.
Pros: great location! The Gozsdu area is really hip, with lots of bars, restaurants, etc. and lots to do. The noise at night due to this may be a con for some but it didn't bother the two of us (we saw it as a sign of a fun, populated place). These are furnished apartments, not really hotel rooms so it was nice to have more space than a normal hotel room with a kitchen and washing machine (even though we didn't really use it). It was also nice to have a second, separate toilet from the main shower/bathroom area. Cons: I guess you get what you pay for (or don't!) - while the weather was lovely outside, the room was HOT!! There were multiple AC units in the apartment but they didn't seem to work. I called the front desk and it turns out that it's a central unit which they ONLY turn on from Mid-June to September. They also didn't have any fans - a desk fan, if not ceiling ones would have been fine but NOPE. The curtains on the windows, had they been heavier and actually fit the windows, might have helped to keep out the sun/heat. Overall, a poorly planned hotel in terms of guest comfort. I'd suggest putting standalone fans in each apartment at the very least OR turn on the AC beginning in mid-May as it does get really (uncomfortably) warm.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with kitchen and bathroom in September 2017. It was very clean and the kitchen had the basics. But bring your own tea, if you're a tea drinker! It was a great base for us, as a group of young women in our early twenties - lots of bars and clubs are close by, including the famous ruin bars, Szimpla Kert is just around the corner - but I could imagine at night it would get too much for a family. It wasn't too noisy up in the apartment, but the sound did travel, and families might prefer to be in a quieter area. It also felt pretty safe, but again, something that might make families think twice - drunk people can be idiots! The staff on reception were very helpful (we were useless with Hungarian money) and the apartment was cleaned daily. The living room area was spacious and provided plenty of space for relaxing at the end of a busy day, and eating at the apartment if you wanted to. Right outside the apartment though, you'll find loads of restaurants so you don't need to cook at all if you don't want to. There are a couple of really cool thrift stores down the street I'd definitely recommend and an adorable bakery called The Sweet close by, as well as supermarkets, and the main office of one of the Budapest bus tours. The main thermal baths and the castle aren't really walkable distance from the apartment, so that was the method of transport we used. We booked through Booking.com where it lists an airport shuttle of one of the things included with your price but this doesn't seem to be the case - we paid for the Minibud return airport shuttle at the airport on arrival, which dropped us to the apartments, and the receptionist helped us booked our return shuttle for our flight home. Overall I'd recommend this for groups of friends on trips like hen do's or girls weekends.
