Cold room with no heating, breakfast staff not at their post and problems at check-in.
We chose this location because I’ve always had good experiences at IHG properties. I’m a member and frequently stay for business and leisure. This property was not up to their usual standard and I would not stay here again.
1) Comfort - the heating system was off and the room was freezing cold. The radiator was not on, though I turned it up to maximum. I tried the HVAC as well - set it to heat at the highest temperature in heating mode but it was little more than a fan. I complained and they did nothing so I just put up with it as we were only staying for one night.
2) We had an early flight and needed to set off by 8:00am. Breakfast service was not scheduled to start until 7:30am. We turned up at 7:35 and waited - no one was around. I wandered in and found a cleaner, asked her if breakfast service was on. She had to go find someone to man their post. We were not seated for another 5-10min, mind you we were the only ones there.
3) Poor check-in - I booked a rate which included parking and breakfast for two. Despite this, the person checking us in insisted I needed to pay a further £7 for parking. I knew they were wrong, so I insisted and stood there fumbling through my emails trying to prove it. Once I showed it, they ‘checked their system again’ and miraculously I didn’t have to pay after all. If I hadn’t been so certain about which rate I selected, I’d have ended up paying twice.
