Holiday Inn High Wycombe M40, Jct. 43.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed in many Holiday Inns across the world and this one disappointed me a bit. Rooms are really tiny. Fortunately the bed was really comfortable so I slept well. Bathroom is small too and not very convenient set up. I also struggled to get the shower to work properly and did not fully manage to get a good temperature and pressure. You also get a lot of noise of bathrooms in other rooms. In other rooms I read about water being available in the room, but that was not the case in my room (also not in the mini bar which was empty). I really missed that but it was too late to start looking for it. I also missed a shower cap and some other items. Check in (with about 10 other colleagues arriving at the same time) was slow. Check out was a bit smoother but the lady at the reception desk was very very ill (she was so ill she was almost crying) which made me worry. Breakfast was OK but not as good as in Holiday Inns in other countries. Would not really recommend this hotel, but I read they are remodeling the rooms at the moment.
So easy to find and in a perfect location with all the shops around too. Great room, very friendly staff and a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. Would definitely book here again in future. We didn’t try the bar/food but would if we stayed again.
Bullets: - Great location just yards from the Motorway junction - Friendly staff - Facilities as expected (upgraded room) - Bar food average - steak quite small - Good sleep / shower - Breakfast OK although there were no egg-cups available? - Overall not cheap - Hence 3 bubbles and not 4 They were starting a room refurb and so I didn't need to set my alarm clock as I woke to banging and crashing from adjacent rooms. A temporary glitch.
Conveniently just off the M40 -far enough to be quiet. Close to Asda supermarket, fuel station, & a multiplex cinema. Low rise – 2 stories –corridors extend for some considerable distance. Not a high-quality building – corridors have a distinctly down-market feel but the rooms themselves are fine. My Executive room at bathrobe and slippers, iron and board. The staff were very helpful & understanding. Somehow, I had double booked. Normally you have until 4 PM to cancel. I had arrived a 5:30 PM but they gave me a pass on that restriction. Thank you. Free Wi-Fi. There’s a restaurant serving dinner in a pleasantly decorated facility. Free parking right out front.
I booked here as a last minute stop over in High Wycombe. It's ideally located just off the M40 for travellers, but far enough away not to hear the motorway traffic. The outside of the hotel looks a little old fashioned, but there was ample free parking. Once inside the reception is modern and has a nice ambiance. The IGH Platinum welcome was there and I was upgrade to an Executive Room as per the perks. Late check out also offered and accepted to 2pm the next day. Everything in the room was beautifully clean, if a little dated. All the Holiday Inn standard items were there and a stocked mini bar. Water pressure was good and temperature also stable. All checks passed thus far. If you fancy eating outside the hotel there is a TGI Fridays, Frankie and Benny's and John Lewis within easy walking distance. There is also a cinema, giant Next and ASDA. A real sense that this is a Holiday Inn that cares about adhering to brand values and it's customers. If I am in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
We needed a place to lay our heads in between arriving back in to Gatwick and traveling to Birmingham. Impressed with how quiet our room was considering the hotel is right beside the M40 - our room looked in to the courtyard. rooms in need of a bit of a makeover, just feel a bit tired, but very clean. Hotel bar a bit overpriced for what it is.
Stayed overnight as i was attending a course. Staff were extremely pleasant. An the lovely wee receptionist was so helpful in directing me to the location of my course ,sorted out my taxi. Perfect for an overnight stay!
Stayed one night at this hotel it’s located in a nice quiet area with plenty of parking. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Check in and check out was very quick. Staff were friendly and helpful
Use this hotel a lot through work always enjoy staying here but today was better then most the lovely Michale upgraded me and gave me a complementary drink excellent service as usual room spotlessly clean as always would highly recommend this hotel
Visited for 3 nights with a group. Lounge well decorated and plenty of room. Bedroom was a little small but extremely well presented and spotlessly clean. Room overlooking the garden area was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Good range of food and food was hot! Food served to a group in an overcrowded room was all self service. Choice was unimaginative and on a level with school dinners. Fish cakes, cottage pie, chickpea curry etc. The whole affair was unpleasant and disappointing. The young staff who were clearing tables were pleasant and friendly and did their best to make us welcome. There were some problems with staff communication. A group of us were sitting in the bar one night when the air conditioning fan above our table became very uncomfortable. We asked the young lady at the bar if it could be turned off. She simply could not understand us. We then asked at reception and were told rather curtly to ask at the bar. At this point we gave up and went to bed. I would probably stay at this hotel again if I was in the area but never as part of a group.
