This is a first class hotel in a very convenient location adjacent to the Diegem surface train station and quite close to the Zaventem airport which serves Brussels, Belgium. It's a modern and very attractively designed property located close to several well companies in a modern office park. My room was very large and furnished in a sleek style. I was on the end of the building and it was very quiet. I purchased the somewhat overpriced breakfast one morning, and the quality and variety was excellent. They were so attentive, someone collected my newspapers while I was briefly away from my table before I sat down with food.
We had to leave at 4:30 am for an early flight. Their shuttle doesn't start until 5:00. I showed them my paperwork that showed 24 hr free shuttle service and they promptly said they would pay for a taxi. Great customer service!
Upon arrival, desk staff directed me to every full parking lot they had, before telling me I could park in an adjoining business' lot. went to their restaurant an hour and a half before closing, they had 6 or 7 main entries, were out of two. one person staffing the bar, and restaurant, never saw him again after he took our order. after a long wait, kitchen staff brought our meals. last service we saw, I had to go to the bar to get drinks and bottled water, and our check, where registration staff were trying to tend bar, as bar and restaurant continued to fill up. I had fries with dinner, they were out of a bag, and they didn't even offer mayo or ketchup, I'm in Belgium, for goodness sake! Management had not paid attention to the number of registered guests. Ran the air conditioner on lowest setting, highest fan, never worked. It was my last night in Belgium, after two weeks, and had hoped for a more up scale, restful experience, it wasn't. I hate to be a grumpy American, but I I had much better experiences in the lesser rated places I stayed
Great overnight stay. Quick shuttle to the airport in the morning and very close to the rail station. Overall great experience!
The NH hotels seem to be good hotels. This one definitely fit that bill for over all design and comfort. However the rooms were a bit loud as it was near the airport and you could hear the planes a bit more than expected. Additionally the room was a bit musty or stale smelling. Seems someone had smoked in it previously. But overall it was a good experience.
I thought the room was a good value for the price - I believe we averaged $160 per night, including all of the taxes. The only item that was below average was the smallish conventional TV; I guess I had been spoiled a few nights previous by a large HDTV with HD cable at the nearby Holiday Inn Brussels Airport. On a very positive note, if you're looking to do siteseeing in Brussels while also being convenient to the airport for your arrival into and departure from Brussels, it would be difficult to beat the NH. The rail station is just across the street. In the evenings, there were hourly trains departing from Gare Centrale returning to the Diegem station by the hotel.
My sister and I stayed in this hotel due to its proximity to the airport. The shuttle to the airport took me there in 10 minutes. She parked her car at the hotel for free. We stayed Sunday afternoon until Tuesday when my plane departed. The best part was the metro into the Grote Market was 2 minutes from the hotel--just across the street and we were in the square for only 3.20 euros round trip and 15 minutes! The price for such a hotel was fantastic--the young lady at the desk was so nice, as were the rest of the staff. She also gave us the special "women's room" which was very comfortable and the bathroom was fantastic!
