Had a horrible stay at the Ibis... by far the worst Ibis I have stayed at and I've stayed at many all over the world. - Difficult to get to with Brisbane's one way streets. - Reception staff were rude and couldn't wait to get rid of us. - Parking is 3 blocks away in a secure car park and costs $36 for 24 hours. When we checked in we questioned the price of this as the whole reason we had booked this hotel was that we were quoted a much cheaper price for ON-SITE parking and we end up with off site parking for $36, she said that the money would be refunded to us once we check out in the morning and bring the parking receipt to them...... - The bathroom was mouldy and more to the quality of a 2 star side of highway motel in the outback than an Ibis hotel in the Brisbane CBD..... - Very noisy in the evenings and we could hear the conversations of the people in the rooms on both sides of us as well as them in the bathrooms..... people coming and going all night and well into the morning...... - We booked a room rate that included breakfast.... when we went down for breakfast she said it was not included.... even though we had a confirmation that said so... and wanted to charge us $18 each for a pretty small selection of eggs, juice and cereal.... - Housekeeping were banging on our door wanting to clean the room at 9am even though checkout is not until 11am and we quite clearly hadn't checked out yet at 9am...... - When we checked out and gave them the parking receipt the reception staff knew nothing about the conversation we had had the night before and said they do not refund for parking, even if we were given false information just to secure our booking, but he said he "may be able to refund the $50 deposit" they held on my credit card for any accidentals or breakages, like he was doing us a favour for giving back a deposit they give back to everyone anyway once they check out (this also is new to me, an Ibis taking a deposit for accidentals or if u break something?? and was never mentioned at the time of booking), also when we questioned them about our breakfast not being included AND showed them the confirmation they said it was not on their system so that's it, nothing they can do. - 3 lifts and only one of them working?? seriously?? - Don't be fooled by their pictures..... the hotel may have looked like that 30 years ago.... not anymore! - By far the worst IBIS experience I have had, I will never stay here again.
Location was fantastic, the hotel was just a 5 minute walk from Roma street station, which links to the airport also. The hotel is in walking distance of the city centre as well as the Bay Area, where there are restaurants and cafes to stop off. Bathroom was basic and could do with some modernising the room was also fairly compact if you have large suitcases. They offer breakfast at $18 dollars pp so that can begin to add up if you were here longer than a few days.
Being a part time snob I normally would not stay at an Ibis hotel. I booked into Ibis turbot street last month for an overnight business trip and I was more than pleasantly surprised. The decor was simple but nice, the staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable and the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was average but it was built into the room cost so who could argue. Its not the place for a romantic get away but for a business trip perfect.
From no car parking or even a trolley to help get your gear to the room.. To finding a wet towel in your shower/ bath 😨 & virtually no noise insulation so I could hear EVERYTHING being said by anyone who walked past.. this place was appalling.. one of my worst hotel experiences!
We were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff and got early check-in (which was much appreciated). Our room was small but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was big, with shower over the bath and all toiletries included. the bed was really comfortable, extra pillows were provided and an extra blanket. Breakfast was a full buffet - everything you could want for breakfast. Our price included a welcome drink and breakfast - no complaints at all. The only suggestion i have is for a handle to assist stepping out of the bath/shower.
My husband and I stayed at Ibis Brisbane 8th -10th September 2017, thought hotel was good value at just under $300 AU for 2 nights including hot buffet breakfast. Hotel is a short walk from Roma St, Station and another short walk to the mall, river etc so centrally located. Check in was easy and smooth as was self serve check out. Room on 8th floor was large, quiet, bathroom was adequate ( shower over bath, no storage in bathroom) Bed was comfy, has desk, small fridge, couple of chairs, hanging space, iron & board, coffee table, enough for a short stay. As it was a quick transit stop for us and we were out and about most of the time, room suited our needs. Could see cobwebs in corners when curtains opened if I was to be picky and behind bathroom door could do with a good scrub. ( lot of dirt around handle). Plenty of breakfast for everyone, good choice for the money. On our last morning at breakfast just after 7am, the 2 kitchen staff had a full on argument which got loud and heated and went on for 10-15 mins, thought this was very un professional and their behaviour became very annoying quickly. All though I did not understand their language the woman's high pitched loud voice and the mans raised voice one can only assume it was to do with the kitchen ...... Hmmmm Apart from that would stay here again as it was good value, mid star hotel great location.
As an accor member this was the best experience i have recieved with all membership entitlements met or exceeded. This hotel displayed why accor membership is worth it. Rooms and staff were excellent and very good value.
This hotel, located near the corner of Turbot and George Streets, is a 16 floor building, and very handy to the Roma Street railway station. Checkin was handled quickly and our room was on the 3rd floor. The room size was adequate, not large, with a single window looking out onto high rise buildings across the street. The double bed was exceptionally comfortable, resulting it seems from efforts made to provide improved sleeping facilitiies in the hotel. I would say they succeeded. The Westinghouse airconditioning was adequate once one was able to sort out the system. The toilet facitities were standard, but the bath was not full size and somewhat narrow. One needed to be rather athletic to use this, as trying to get out could possibly require one to call for help. There was an overhead shower above the bath itself. Each morning there was a daily paper available in the reception lobby area. The A$50 deposit required at checkin, was refunded very expiditiously when checking out, despite this being a busy time. This hotel is well located in regard to a number of popular facilities such as the Queen Street Mall, the Brisbane City Hall, the Roma Street gardens, and the South Bank Parklands beside the Brisbane River. Again, a pleasant place to stay in a busy city.
We loved this hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly, The hotel was spotless, the rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable and the location was great. The breakfast was included and was very good. The wifi wasn't free in the bedrooms but you could access it in reception. I would easily recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for a work trip. Beds are comfortable and room quiet at night. The food in the restaurant at night was petty good and inexpensive. Staff pleasant at reception and efficient. Downside - Bathroom a bit dated compared with some other city offerings. Not enough power sockets for your devices - The ones that there are you will find are behind furniture.
