Novotel Bordeaux Centre

The hotel seems to be a rather standard Novotel, with smallish but adequate rooms, comfortable beds, etc. However we were disappointed that their restaurant was not open for dinner on Saturday or Sunday nights. Sometimes a tired traveler does not want to go out looking for a meal and a hotel restaurant 's convenience is a real help. In this case, we had even read good reviews of the restaurant and the posted menu looked quite appetizing. We ventured to Meriadeck and bought groceries- not quite what we wanted to do on a Saturday night. The next night we dined at Ibis hotel next door.

Our room overlooked the plaza, which made for a quiet room. Service was friendly and helpful. Parking is adjacent to the hotel so very convenient. The breakfast selection was very good with eggs (scrambled, fried or boiled), ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, fresh fruit, pastries, croissants, pain au chocolate, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee. The restaurant for dinner offered a good choice of items with very good service. The hotel is also very close to other great restaurants and shopping.

This is a great choice in location, value for money and would recommend for couples, families and solo travellers. Just a 5 minute walk to cathedral. Airport bus stop 2 minutes from hotel. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Hotel we found very quiet. Lots of choice for breakfast, it did get busy so try and avoid 'peak' times. Staff were both friendly and very helpful.

I booked this hotel even though the reviews were not so great. The reason behind it was I am a Gold member of the Accor program which means i get some benefits. I will try to review each thing separately: 1. The reception. I almost never mention it but the girls deserve to be mentioned. It felt like they were just hired, they don't have any customer service skills and they try so hard not to be rude but, of course, they fail. Not all of them are that bad, one of them was actually saluting guests in the morning. Unfortunately I don't know her name 2. The room. It was of a decent size for France. The bed was with memory foam and it was very comfortable. I felt fresh after waking up in the morning. My room was also clean and they even changed the sheets after 2 nights. You also have a large flat screen TV with a decent selection of channels, most of them in french. 3. The bathroom. Clean, simple and with the amenities of a 3* hotel, not 4. A lot of things were missing, like the small bottles of shower gel, shampoo or even the shower caps. They had a sign saying to call the reception and ask for anything. I called one night to get facial tissues. 90 minutes later i got toilet paper instead 4. The breakfast. It was varied, with 3 types of cheese, 2 types of meat, lots of local pastries, coffee, tea. Not the greatest breakfast I've seen in a Novotel but certainly not the worst All in all, if there is no other 4* option in Bordeaux, book this one

We stayed for 3 nights in the Novotel on our recent visit and it was a very enjoyable. The hotel is centrally located about 5 minutes walk from the cathedral and 10 minutes from the city centre. It is only a 3 minute walk from the No1 bus stops to and from the airport (1.60 euro fare). Our room was a good size, clean and with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The room had TV, safe, tea / coffee making facilities and also a small fridge (empty - for your own use). It was located on the third floor at the rear of the building and was very quiet. We did not take breakfast in the hotel (opting for a 2 euro coffee and pastry at a nearby café) The check-in / out procedure was fast and efficient. All the hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. We would certainly use this hotel again - highly recommended.

We made an error in choosing this hotel as it was quite a distance from where we were to start a river cruise. It was also quite isolated from suitable eating places, and the city itself. However, for just the one night we booked it was quite adequate.

I stayed one weeknight and one weekend night at the Novotel Bordeaux Centre, located about 15 minutes via taxi from the Centre Gare. My arrival experience was fine--a pleasant conversation at reception yielded a recommendation for one of the finest kebab shoppes I've ever enjoyed--and the room was basic, but comfortable. The walk into the main shopping area was easily done after about 15-20 minutes and all of the city's wonderful sites and sights are within reach. I did have a minor problem with my room where the power suddenly disappeared and no engineers were present to fix the problem, so I had to move to the room directly one floor above. In all, the hotel is very average and could do with a renovation, but it is quiet, clean, comfortable, and convenient.

Great location and excellent front office staff. Clean rooms. The room exterior and passages are pretty old and bit soiled as well. It is time to uplift the carpet. Hotel is accessible by public transport.

We stayed here for a long weekend with friends and after reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous. However, don't be. If you're expecting the Ritz then you will be disappointed but for the money it's a good value hotel. The check in was swift and welcoming. The rooms were clean, a good size with very comfortable beds. The location is perfect. Just a 5-10 minute walk from the centre with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants near by. We opted out of the hotel breakfast which I would recommend as there are so many options within minutes. We had a fantastic stay here in Bordeaux and would recommend this hotel as a great base to explore the city.

I would personally like to thank the very helpful staff at Reception (especially Lucie) for helping my husband retrieve his camera from Portugal. They went out of their way to co-ordinate the camera being posted to us in Australia. Very much appreciated. Whilst this hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk from central Bordeaux there are a few good restaurants close by. Glouton Bistro is excellent and Chef's Concert (Chinese) serves wonderfully fresh and very tasty food. Enjoyed breakfast on the balcony and the room was comfortable. The separate toilet is a good idea. The entrance is a bit confusing, the Uber driver nearly got lost!
