Novotel Bordeaux Centre4.0 out of 5.0

Great location. Comfy beds. Room decor dull. Lacks the touches of a 4 star hotel eg - paper tea/coffee cups that can't be reused. Poor hairdryer. Overall good value. But not a 4 star hotel. Reception is nice.
the stay was ok, but nothing special. Actually, there is more to expect from a 4* hotel. The rooms are okay. The shower is flooded after each time, there is only a poor hair dryer and the reception hasn't a better to borrow. The reception personal was nice and friendly.
Room was clean and pleasant, but room was extremely hot, so would not recommend going to this hotel during the off season. Staff were good but unhelpful on the room temperature issue as air conditioning cannot be switched until some unspecified time in the spring/summer. Was told the temperature outside was 10oC and to open a window which was next to the road so too noisy. Shame that some hotels find it difficult to ensure that the room climate is not controllable. This will stop me using the hotel in my future trips to Bordeaux.
Having stayed at a Novotel in Valencia, I did expect the hotel to be basic but also expected a bit more considering it has one more star. The only good point about this hotel is the location, rooms are tired looking, the carpet has stains in it as well as burn holes and in the bathroom there were hairs from the previous guest. The hotel doesn't have its own parking but just behind it there is a public parking with reserved spaces for the Novotel guests. The hotel is way overpriced with a one night stay costing 130 euros (without breakfast!), you would do better and go to the budget IBIS next door which is half the price and probably same quality and offers free breakfast. Definitely not worth fours stars, we normally tend to stay in 4 stars and 5 star hotels, with some exception of there is no other possibility and have thus a basis for comparison. .
Fab location for a short break. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and a good size. We had a good night sleep! There is a bike docking station nearby as well as very easy links for buses and trams.
We had booked an overnight stay at the hotel on our way home from a trip to Spain. Despite their being numerous car parks in the vicinity of the hotel those visitors with cars over 1.8m beware as apart from on street parking all the car parks had that height restriction. During the hour search for parking the hotel staff were very helpful with suggestions of places to park. Our room/bathroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant and the staff were very welcoming. My meal of cod with a mushroom broth was delicious however I couldn't say the same for my husband who had steak which was extremely rare and tough, so would recommend avoiding.
Having just left a Novotel Hotel in Barcelona that had some good points but also had some real concerns,I wondered what we would find here Except for the noise of renovations at times the room is clean and comfortable ,recently renovated. The front office staff very helpful regarding how to get to the petite tourist train and also our cruise ship. We had a good meal in their restaurant ,loved the garlic mussels just a shame some of the Boeff was.overcooked.Wine with meal a good choice and these tired travellers were happy again!!
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English. The rooms were very clean and we had a superior room with a lovely large bed. Breakfast was 16 euros each but there was cold buffet as well as boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. It was a five minute walk to the city or 2 minutes to a tram.
The hotel is clean,we loved our room! They even have a couple of toys/games for kids down in the lobby area.My 6 years old enjoyed it after breakfast and before dinner every day. Breakfast was overpriced for the quality of the buffet they are serving! Scrambled eggs was mushy and did not even tasted like eggs. Couple cold cuts and couple cheese type you could choose from. Coffee was not tasting too good either. We went to the restaurant on our last night, we had to wait at least 30-40 minutes before we could order our food!!! That was just crazy! Only one person was serving the whole restaurant that wash`t even busy but he was running up and down clearly needing some help! I visited the bar before dinner time 2 times but there was no barmen to be found for a while and I was not alone waiting to be served! Over all great location, clean room, very family friendly! If you could avoid the restaurant it is a great hotel.
i was at this hotel for a short time only and here's my experience : i arrived at midnight, went to the hotel bar for a drink with my work collegues, and the barman was super friendly, the drink i wanted wasn't on the menu but he made it with smile. he also accepted to keep serving us past the last call. rooms are clean and quite big for a european hotel. bed and linings are comfy. but the street in front of the hotel is very noisy. there was a bar with people making a lot of noise outside till 3h30am. and the hotel is close to a huge police station so you can regularly ear police sirens. overall its quite a nice place, i spent a lot of time in hotel rooms and there's one thing that i hate and its when hotel worker don't respect guest's privacy. since i work weird hours, and was still sleeping in the afternoon and even if i had the do not disturb sign, the maid knocked and came in 1/2second right after. waking up in your bed from a knock on your door and when you open your eyes you see a stranger in your room is not a good feeling. this should not happen and hotel staff should he trained to respect that simple sign on a door..
