Aparthotel Adagio Bordeaux Gambetta

I was a bit weary about this hotel after reading reviews, and unfortunately my concerns proved true. The bathroom does not provide privacy. I'm not a particularly modest person, but I found the bathroom set-up odd and unnerving. The bathroom doors swing and do not close tightly so you can see and hear inside quite easily. My partner and I are light sleepers, so every time one of us got up to go to the bathroom, the other one woke up. On top of that, the air conditioning did not work very well, and it was very warm during our visit. In our first room, the air conditioning was not cooling the room at all, and after having someone come up to check it and saying we'd have to wait until the morning for a technician to fix it, we asked to move rooms. There was a very lovely and kind young woman working at the front desk who worked to accommodate our needs, and to her I'm very thankful. Our second room was cooler, but still not as comfortable as other French hotels we stayed in during our trip. Having a kitchen area and a refrigerator was the one highlight of staying here. The location was decent, but the room and the hotel itself felt sterile and not very homey. As other reviewers have mentioned, I'm not sure why this is considered a four star hotel -- the next hotel we stayed in (in Paris) was a three star and had much more to offer in terms of amenities, comfort, and charm.

A great place to stay! Perfect location, short walk to heaps of restaurants, and Rue St Catherine (shopping!!!!) The rooms are very well set up, with kitchenette, an over-bath clothes line and ironing board supplied. The breakfast was also great! Would stay here again for sure when in Bordeaux.

We only had one night in Bordeaux on our trip and needed to get to and from Merignac airport quickly. This couldn't have been easier. The bus costs 1.4 Euros and drops you off right next to the hotel. The stop to take us back was on the opposite side of the road. The hotel is clean and modern and the bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was worth the extra 11 Euros - it's an apart-hotel so it would have been great to have stayed a few days with the little kitchen area. It was easy to walk into the city and we had enough time to have a good wander around and have a nice dinner.

This aparthotel is right beside the bus stop for the 1+ airport bus, literally 1 minute from the hotel. Get off at the Gambetta-Meriadeck stop. It is 15 min walk from the river. The big advantage in Bordeaux is that it is very compact and everywhere is in walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and spacious. It was also a quiet area. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. It's a great location, a short walk from the cathedral, nearby bars and restaurants and the shopping centre(meriadeck). Also it's on the 1 bus route from the airport, which stops adjacent to the hotel. The staff were friendly. The hotel had a leisure facility and Turkish baths. The apartments are spacious and modern. Our apartment had a balcony. The air conditioning work perfectly(not loud) and kept the room cool. Our apartment had a double bed and a sofa bed, with a divider to split up the room if someone wishes to use the sofa bed. There is a separate toilet and washroom(shower, sink and bath). It had a kitchenette with a fridge, hob, microwave, sink, and dishwasher. We didn't eat at the hotel(due to the kitchenette) but breakfast is €11. Room cleaning is optional and is €23.

The hotel is maximum a 3 out of 5. Plus Good location Quiet rooms if facing the internal courtyard (most rooms face the road, though, and we had to ask to be moved despite a booking request for a quiet room) friendly receptionists Minus Dated and heavily used rooms with toilet separate from shower Discoloured bed linen. Still not quite sure what some of the dark red spots were. Hard bed Cleaning 'hit & miss', e.g. bathroom rug missing one day Poor soap (very harsh liquid) Soap comes in large container that doesn't fit soap holder in bathroom. Means that one has to put it on the floor at the risk of slipping or worse. Kitchenette with kettle but no instant coffee, tea or other. Perhaps the hotel is best suited to families with a child. If used by 3 people, the price is perhaps justified. Otherwise, I recommend looking for better value options.

Location is great , walking distance to main shopping . Huge Supermarket just next block . Breakfast is good . Standard Room is equipped with a pantry but the room is small. Bed is so close to the WC. Something to be aware of before you book : You will have to $18/day for housekeeping and $3 per day to change your towels towel . There is a bus stop nearby where you can take bus no. 1 to airport at $1.50 per pax . Bus takes approx 40 min to reach airport .

We stayed here for just 2 nights while visiting Bordeaux. The room was very basic but had everything we needed. If you're looking for very basic accomodation that is reasonably priced then this is a good option. Well suited to a solo traveller or couple who don't require much room. Walking distance to most parts of Bordeaux and the staff are pretty helpful.

On the way back from exploring the south of France we had a one night stay in Bordeaux. We were keen to cram in as much of the city as possible and the Adagio was in the perfect location. The reception staff on arrival were very helpful and allowed us to check in an hour earlier. We had a triple room which was fresh and clean, the main bed was comfortable but the sofa bed wasn't the best (the slats fell out the bottom in the middle of the night). All in all, was ideal for what we needed, so much so we have booked in again for another 1 night stay later this year.

the property is not very old. we made a mistake we didnt take it with breakfast because the hotel had a relatively decent spread. nice comfortable beds and cozy hotel. friendly staff and concierge helps you a lot for everything. they have many apart hotels in bordeaux, the gambetta one is the best
