The staff were all very helpful and I didn't have a problem with noise from the street. Even though the rooms are small and basic, it was clean and safe and in a great location!

Modest, clean, and well located. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast was simple but lovely. Reviews mentioning the size of the bathrooms were very much true. I’m on the small side and usually don’t have an issue but it was tight. If I were a heavier person I would’ve had issues accessing the toilet.

Best Hotel!

I booked Hotel San Giorgio for my parents during their stay in Bologna, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The reception was warm and welcoming, and the staff went out of their way to make everything smooth. The hotel itself has been recently renovated, which gives it a fresh and comfortable feel, and the location is central—close to everything worth seeing in the city. Breakfast was simple but very good, with quality coffee and croissants. The staff were helpful throughout the stay, not only allowing my parents to keep their luggage at the hotel until the evening but also arranging a taxi and giving them clear directions around the city. These small details made a big difference. Bologna itself is lively, full of students, friendly people, and an international atmosphere. There is no shortage of places to eat and plenty to explore within walking distance. For anyone visiting Bologna, I can recommend Hotel San Giorgio without hesitation—it is one of the best options in the city, both for comfort and for service.

Very walkable hotel in the old town of Bologna. We stayed here for its ease of walking to the train station. It is nice to be able to leave your key with the staff and pick it up after adventuring.

Room was quite small & narrow but immaculately clean. Partial view of the towers from my 4th floor window. Guys on the desk very helpful. Walking distance (15 minutes) from train station and less than 10 minutes to most things you want to see. Cappuccino & big croissant was a nice touch for breakfast. And they let me have it early before my train. Perfect for my 2 night stay.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at San Giorgio, very friendly staff, very helpful. The hotel is in the middle of everything, so many restaurants to choose from. A lot of stores for shopping. A good location for walkablity to a lot places.

I got everything I needed, and nothing that I didn’t need. The hotel is very conveniently located, an easy walk to the railway station and even easier to all city center attractions. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel seemed clean and well maintained. Now, the single bed room was indeed tiny. The TV tiny and the desk tiny and the shower tiniest. But ok, I didn’t really need any more space for sleeping so it was all good with me.

In my over twenty years of traveling, this was the worst stay both internationally or domestically. Because I will be out of the room for most of the day, I try to book budget hotels where I will only be sleeping in a room. I don’t mind if a hotel is a little run down and does not offer all the amenities, so long as it is quiet, safe, and notably clean. In my twenty years of traveling, that bargain has been kept. This is a property that failed in every way. The morning after my first night sleeping at the hotel, I I had several bite marks along my arm indicative of bed bugs. I did not point this out to the management in the morning because I had a timed appointment to go to. On the way back to the hotel, I showed my arm to the receptionist. He indicated I had brought the bug in my luggage, or that I had reacted negatively to food I’d eaten, or I had been bitten by mosquitos by opening the window for five minutes. He would not move me to another room for the night. To cut to chase, the receptionist indicated that I was a “problem” for showing him my arm and asking for a hair dryer. After I discovered a bed bug climbing on one of the sheets I insisted that I get moved. Only after calls to Expedia was there any movement to move me. Around midnight, the hotel finally agreed to move me and it allowed me to check out one hour later. Oh, there is also a foul odor from the bathroom to boot. This was an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons.

Great little hotel in perfect location

Great little spot in a perfect location in Bologna, about 15 min walk from train station and 10 min walk to Plaza Maggiore and all attractions. Very kind and friendly staff, easy check in w/24 hour front desk and daily housekeeping. I had a twin room for a solo traveler and yes it was small, but efficient and comfortable. Simple Italian breakfast of caffe and coronetto served every morning. Lots of choices for apertivo, dinner, gelato right outside the door, there was some noise the night Ferrari were first and second in an F1 race (the Tifosi were full forza Ferrari!) but it’s Italy and what a great experience! Recommend to anyone looking for simple, comfortable place to say that is budget friendly.
