great staff, great food, great hygiene, great location, great prices, great design and most importantly beautiful swimming pools with the perfect view. would recommend everyone to choose this hotel. i will drfinitely choose it again for my next visit.
We were going away for my birthday and my aim had been to find somewhere adequate but cheap. When your birthday falls on the first day of the UK school summer holidays, this becomes less a matter of cheap and more a matter of “cheaper than the rest”... Bitez is about 1.5 hours away from Bodrum Milas airport. We called the hotel a few weeks before our trip to ask what a transfer would cost and were quoted 150TL. We called to book a few days before and the price had increased to 200TL. A bit miffed by the increase we didn’t take that offer and when we landed found that the fixed rates at the airport for a transfer to Bitez were 140TL. I think airport taxi prices are published online if you want to check, but if this is your first visit to Turkey, perhaps a 60tl premium to know that somebody will be waiting for you is worth paying. Aside from the “mountain” you have to climb to get up to the hotel, first impressions were very positive. As you would expect, somebody came to collect our bags - at check in we were given cold towels and drinks. Our room was a good size with a generous amount of storage and plenty of powerpoints for charging phones and tablets The bed was large and comfortable. There was the odd custom of providing a single rather small blanket for two people, although they were only too happy to provide another when we requested it. The bathroom was also a good size and there was a gimmicky but nice shutter so you can look into the room / enjoy the distant view outside when in the bath. Our “partial sea view” room was on the side of the hotel over the reception and actually had a rather good sea view. We were directly opposite the security hut so it didnt feel particularly private, but ‘better’ rooms were above the pool, therefore visible to everyone sunbathing, thus perhaps even less private. Wifi was superb almost everywhere in the hotel (and beach). Pressure in the shower was great and in addition to shutters and blinds, there were also blackout blinds on the outside of the window so we slept well. The Air con was a bit weak unfortunately - if we returned at about 9pm, the room was rather stuffy for a few hours and wasnt getting to the set temperature until the early hours. Turkish tourism is suffering right now and I’m not sure how full the hotel was but it never felt too busy. It was a bit busy at breakfast on one day when a party of Chinese tourists visited but with 2 pools, if one was busy the other would be quiet. Prices at the hotel were about double what you would pay locally - This was ok, you didn’t feel bad having the odd beer by the pool, but it encouraged you to go out and try local restaurants instead of staying in. Taxis are cheap and plentiful - sure you can walk, but the better restaurants are a few km away and that can cost about £3 each way. In addition to the 2 pools, the hotel has a beach… Well, it actually has no beach, but it has a lovely seaside area with a variety of terraces and an abundance of loungers. The sea is astonishingly clear and the hotel wifi works perfectly without even needing to sign in again. Prices are as per the hotel, inflated but not horrific. The hotel also offers an hourly free transfer to and from the beach. The driver was a great guy - despite just driving the bus, he was a fantastic ambassador for the hotel, he could also reverse down roads in a minibus that I would struggle to drive down in a car. Speaking of breakfast, we thought the food was very good and the selection perfectly adequate. The only eggs in the buffet were hard boiled, but they were happy to cook any other choices to order. There were newspapers available at breakfast and I was impressed to see UK titles available, although I am not a Daily Mail or Sun reader and with such a good internet connection I could keep up to date on my tablet. On the one occasion when we tried to have dinner in the hotel the experience was rather poor as they simply forgot to bring us the drinks we had ordered or come to take our food order. After a while we walked out - the trainee who had been serving us apologised profusely, but the other staff who had apparently been chatting around the bar were conspicuously silent. It was a quiet night, but dumping all the work on a trainee, then letting him take the blame is a bit poor… Again, no loss, we went out and had a great meal for half the price. The only real criticism I can offer is that some of the customers were rich idiots. There was lots of loud conversation meant to be overheard - clicking of fingers to attract staff - cigarette smoke blown deliberately at other people and stupid lap dogs. To give the hotel credit, they didnt allow the dogs into the restaurant (much to the pain of their over privileged owners), but they did run around the pool area peeing on the walls and biting children who tried to pet them. In tough times I dont know how the hotel can deal with this, because putting off their local customers would be foolish, but dogs are not what you would expect at a hotel of this standard. According to their promotional material, Doria is a cool, 91 room, 5 star hotel. I’ve been lucky enough to stay in a few other 5 star hotels around the world and Doria is not quite up there with them. Star ratings are a subjective thing but given the price I paid I am very happy to recommend Doria Hotel and should I find myself back in Bitez I will be more than happy to stay here again. One tiny last note - we arrived a day after an earthquake and actually experienced a couple of small aftershocks. There was talk of people cancelling their trips. No question, earthquakes are killers, but areas like this are used to them and they are built to withstand them. Bodrum is usually a pricey area but now it’s an absolute steal!
It's so hard to choose a hotel in Bodrum because there are so many to choose from. A hotel where you can walk from your room direct to the beach is great and you cannot do that at the Doria. But they have a shuttle to the beach and moreover their own pool is an excellent place to stay so why even consider going to the beach? The view is amazing and if you can afford a room with sea view, you almost feel like in paradise. The spacious rooms, further facilities and helpful staff also helps to give you that feeling. Staff are very good but I would especially mention Abidin at the reception. Always in a good mood and very helpful with information on any subject. It made my stay at the Doria even more memorable.
such a good and clean hotel and a very good location with a beautiful view, tasty breakfast with a very friendly crew i would like to thank Mr.Abedin for being so kind during our stay he was always helping as and tell us where to be in bodrum .
Pros/ very friendly staff, the manager changed our room on the second day upon our request :) clean and large swimming pools. The shuttle to the beach is on time but limited seating about 12. but they do 2 trips. the beach area is very clean and super nice staff with reasonably priced drinks. All in all I would recommend it. Cons/ the hotel is on a very steep hill. walking up and down is a bit challenging if you have any health issues. the massage is not good at all, spare yourself and go to royal arena spa across the street. Limited breakfast, but not too bad. We got the deluxe room or something, it is the one with the big balcony and lounges, see hotel photos. However, we were on the second story and not in the main building which is fine but you cannot see the sea when sitting on the lounges, you have to stand up :/ I asked for a similar room on the floor above or the main, and the morning manager did just that the next morning with a smile. Great hospitality.
I'm Turkish, living abroad. Been to Turkey for holiday about 10 times. I have paid a lot more previously but never stayed in a hotel this good. it was perfect, in every sense. The hotel is stunning, everything is very cleverly placed, the views are breath taking. We upgraded to Deluxe Sea View room which was quite large and well designed. The highlights in no particular order for me are; the cleanliness very professional staff design the views selection of pillows, bed quality daily complimentary mineral water Air condition quality, being able to adjust room temperature to my taste The swimming pools ( I prefer the beach) The Doria Beach, you must go there, it's free of charge and possibly the best beach in Bodrum. Before you ask yes I have been to most of them if not all over the years.
Great staff that know the true value of customer service special mention for Abeddin that he was so friendly with us he was always ready to help when we where asking for help.. the restaurant was very good, not to forget about the amazing beach club .
We had a wonderful stay in Doria! Very clean, simplistic and chic design, a killer view and helpful staff. We stayed at a sea view room, which I recommend strongly! The beach is in Aktur, 5 min shuttle distance and shuttles are very frequent and convenient. The sea is very clean (blue flag) and again calm and peaceful.
I had the good fortune of staying at this hotel with my brother, his wife and their young daughter when they were visiting me. They upgraded to a sea view room for an additional 30 euro a night and were very happy with their view. To be honest, we spent a lot of time by the pool, as it is easier with small children. Whilst there, we were able to take advantage of their delicious lunchtime meals and drinks. The breakfast buffet was also delicious and we were able to ask for specific things not offered, such as poached eggs. The staff were always helpful and they offered shuttle services to the hotel beach every hour. I was also very happy with my room and all other amenities. Overall, I would definitely recommend others to stay at this hotel. Scott
A comfortable hotel with a nice view, friendly staff and and an exquisite beach club. Though the beach is 2 km away, hourly shuttle services were available for a 5 min drive. One development area could be to make these services every half an hour. The hotel serves bed & breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and with a wide range of selections (if only the pides could be served warmer :)). Free wifi available in hotel & beach club. Close to Bodrum. In a nutshell, fully recommend to stay.
- Free buffet breakfast
- Free WiFi in rooms and public areas
- Free parking
- Onsite dining
