Stopped to spend the night here on Sunday March 31, 2019. Arrived at 11:30pm. Found the locked doors, picked up the wall phone and it rang until I was asked to leave a message. Sign on the door said lobby closes at 11:00pm and will open at 7:00am. WTH? Only 5 cars in the parking lot. I guess the spokesman, Tom Bodett, for Motel 6 didn't send the memo to this Motel 6 about leaving the light on. Drove north to the next town, Wenona IL, stayed the night at Americas Best Value Motel. THEY left the light on.
In town for a two day training and needed a quick place to lay my head. Decent but could be better. Staff was friendly, Room was good for the night only, plenty of running hot water. Overall needs some improvement.
BEWARE OF BEDBUGS.... THIS MOTEL 6 IS TERRIBLE. Would give it five Negative stars if I could. I needed to go to Minonk IL to visit an elderly relative who is dying of cancer, and unfortunately this is the only motel in town. The room and the hotel were filthy. Checked in and entered first room to find: Unmade beds, towels on floor, water standing in shower, A/C not working (83-degrees in room and hallways). Entire hotel was filthy: hallways smelled of poop or dirty diapers and looked like they had not been vacuumed in a month. Elevator was not working, and the fire doors were propped open in the stairwells. I was only in that first room for the 2 minutes it took to determine it was unacceptable. I returned immediately to the front desk agent (an obese, unhelpful woman) who offered an alternate room which I grudgingly went to see. It was nearly as bad, and had visible BED BUGS in the window casement. I returned and informed the front desk woman that neither room was acceptable and I would not be staying there, and asked her to refund my credit card, which I had just given her 5 minutes ago upon check-in to pay for the first room and get the keys. She said that she was not allowed to; because once she took any form of payment she was not allowed to refund it. I left the hotel and immediately called the Motel 6 corporate reservation line from the parking lot, since I had made my reservation directly through them, and asked for a refund. "Brittany" in Ohio said they could not refund my payment since this was a FRANCHISE property (which they didn't mention when I made the reservation). She referred me to their Guest Relations line (which is only open weekdays/limited hours) who she said should be able to help me. I found and paid for another hotel room for the night (La Quinta in a town about 30 miles away) which was just fine, but was still annoyed that I was charged for a filthy, unused Motel 6 room as well. I just spoke with "Christina" at Motel 6 "Guest Relations" who said she cannot do anything either, except "document the experience", since it is a FRANCHISE location. VERY POOR EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card, and will NEVER stay at a Motel 6 again.
I would not recommend this motel 6 to anyone if they have somewhere else to go It started at check in I book through hotels.com for 48.00 a night when I went to check in the jumped the rate to 62.00. While there the elevator stopped working. Then when I went to check out in the morning a rolling steel door was across the office and no one would answer the phone so I could get a receipt. Another person working with was quote 47.00 per night when he talked to them on the phone, when he went to check in 30 mins they wanted to increase his rate to 53.00
I really enjoyed spending the night at motel 6. I loved the staff and how friendly and helpful they were. I am very picky about my motel rooms but I was satisfied with this one. I had the most peaceful nights sleep and normally I cant at any other motel due to rowdy guest. Room was perfect clean and there was also a resturaunt right next door loved it.
M6 is spartan but clean and inexpensive. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast available at Woody's truck stop across the street. I recommend OJ, the pancake sandwich (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, thick slice of ham) with a side of sliced bananas and walnuts. Big salad good for lunch or dinner.
I am surprised by the reviews as this was not our experience. We have been travelling for the last 3 months so we have experienced alot of hotels. Room was clean and staff went out of their way for us
We stayed here when we needed emergency lodging due to a snow storm. So we really had no choice. (The hotel was sold out, as were other hotels, so we felt lucky to get a room). Overall, it was a fine stay. They allow dogs (a lifesaver for us), the beds were acceptable, the room was clean. Across the parking lot is a diner/restaurant that was pretty good. That said, there were a number of problems that could be solved. Here are suggestions for the management of the Motel 6 Minonk: 1) remove the offer to give a 10% discount to visitors who write positive reviews. This offer means that readers should not trust any positive review for this hotel. Remove the offer, and start using that 10% per room to actually improve the hotel. Assuming 10% = $6 per room per night, you could spend that money as follows: 2) Replace stained towels (one of ours had a weird yellow stain) 3) fix small broken stuff (like the security latch on our door) 4) the multichannel direct TV and very fast wifi are nice, but these could be scaled back, with savings used for basics like... 5) newer, softer, larger towels (ours were so small, and like sandpaper... so we all skipped a shower) 6) fix heating system - our room was freezing, and the heating system was loud and ineffective 7) add shampoo and conditioner in shower. By investing in basics and stopping paying for reviews, this hotel could quickly move up in the rankings ..without trying to cheat the system.
Worst hotel I`ve stayed at in my 65 years on Earth. Dirty hallways , dirty room, dirty bed, dirty bathroom, bugs in shower, had to go to front desk to get clean towels. Don`t stay here. There are more hotels just down the road!
I didn't expect much from a Motel 6. This place wasn't even that good. Bed was about the worst I've ever experienced. Keep driving. Don't stay here! Check in and check out both had issues. Supposedly fresh coffee was terrible
