Our car broke down a few miles down from the exit so we got the car to the exit and we didn’t have another option - so we booked a room here. The receptionist was super nice. We got a king sized bed. The bed was comfy and we slept well. The hotel does have a stale smoke smell but honestly once you get to AC going we didn’t really notice it. It’s a good value if you need a place to stay off the highway. Would stay here again.
Owners apparently smoke within building so the lobby where breakfast is served reeked like smoke. So obviously the halls smelled that way too. Room clean enough, hard pillows, older hotel, wouldn't be bad if owners sprayed air frezher
This hotel is right off Interstate 39. My experience began when I needed to check in early, and was pleasantly surprised when the manager checked me in very early. There was plenty of space in the adjacent truck parking lot to park the rental truck I was driving from Atlanta to Minnesota. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean, everything was in good condition and everything worked. I had plenty of space for my things. In the bathroom there was liquid Dial hand soap and Dial body wash, just like I use at home, as well as Breck shampoo, and I appreciated these details. Vending machine prices were low. Subway and Burger King were about two blocks away. The manager was very nice about everything. I was perfectly happy about my visit, including about the price.
I found this hotel on Trip adadvisor and decided to give it a try. It was super easy to find. It was easy to get on and off the highway to stay there. There is not much else near the hotel except one restaurant, Subway, Burger King and a couple of gas stations. The receptionist at the hotel was friendly and nice. There was a weird spicy/curry food smell all throughout the lobby. I had a quick check in and got a great rate for a no smoking room with a king bed. Unfortunately when I went to open the door to my room it had a pronounced smoky, stale smell. I quickly pointed this out to the receptionist and he immediately gave me another room which smelled just fine. I liked the room except the grout in the bathroom was really old and discolored and the towels are really thin and not soft at all. There was only a tiny 6" shelf in the bathroom to put any of my toothbrush, toiletries etc. So my toothbrush kept falling on the bathroom floor! There was a great TV and I watched an HBO movie. There was a refrigerator and a microwave so I was able to get a frozen dinner at the gas station convenience store next-door and heated it up in my microwave. This is just what I wanted. Parking was very easy. I was settling into sleep but at 10:30 PM when there was a bunch of noise in the hallway and in the rooms next to me. A loud family checking in with crying, tired, whiny kids. There was loud talking, noise from hauling in suitcases and door slamming noise for a half hour that kept me awake. The only good news is that after that, everything was quiet again and I had a good nights sleep. The hotel was not at all full so I don't see why they couldn't have put these guests in a room that wasn't right next to mine. The walls were paper thin. Breakfast was extremely disappointing - a basket on the counter with one soft apple and a hard orange. It had a batter machine where you make your own waffles. There were two different types of cold cereal. That was all for the breakfast except for a large carafe of nice, hot coffee. There were newspapers in the breakfast room to read. I had an easy check out and the man at the front desk was very nice and accommodating.
Was acceptable, certainly better than paying $70+ for the same. Breakfast was mediocre at best, but you get what you pay for. I would recommend for those on a budget. It was quiet, too. The owner was there, a good thing, and was very nice.
This hotel was once a Super 8 and retains the same managers. It is no-frills but is a good value in a generally rural area with few nearby lodging choices. I was raised in that area and driving longer distances for shopping and services is the norm there. It is conveniently located just off of I-39 which I frequently use to bypass small towns on the route from the north. There are a couple of fast food places and gas stations in the immediate area. However, when possible, I take food to be warmed in the microwave. Rooms also have a refrigerator and the lobby has coffee available 24/7.
This is a good place to stay in an area with little choices. I don't hesitate to recommend it as a budget lodging choice. We found our room to be clean and the bed was very good. I would recommend cracking a window for moisture as the room was quite dry. Rooms are small but do have micro and fridge. Could use better TV's though. Breakfast was adequate with limited choice but well maintained by front desk staff.
I was apprehensive since the outside does not look like much but the room was reasonably clean and well equipped - microwave, fridge, big TV, coffee maker, hair dryer. The decorating was really bad, but who cares about that if you are just stopping over for one night. Self-serve breakfast including waffles! The front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Very clean rooms and bed was very comfortable. It is great to have this hotel in this area of small towns without many facilities. For this type of hotel, the breakfast was good. Owner very friendly. We've been here several times before, and it's always very suitable to our needs.
I had previously stayed at this establishment when it was a Super 8. It has changed names while offering the same good value and service. It is clean and offers comfortable beds, a coffee maker in room and the breakfast has just the right offerings: waffles, sweet rolls, juice and cereals. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We are keeping this on our list of places to stay when we travel through Illinois.
