This was our second time to visit Grand Bohemian. From the time you pull up to the valet the service is top notch. The staff seems to be well trained and high energy people. The reason we will not be back is because of the service in the bar. We had horrible service a few weeks ago and thought maybe it was just a bad night. After last night though we realized it is an ongoing problem. It comes off as if the servers go out of there way to be rude and avoid serving drinks. Almost as if you are an annoyance. One star for the bar and five star the rest of hotel.
The 5 stars of this review are strictly for the valet team. These gentlemen are the unsung heroes of this hotel. The team is there on rainy, cold, and hot days. They greet you with a smile. I'm at the hotel at least twice monthly, meeting my small group for lunch and each time I arrive, I'm greeted with a welcome back Mrs. Williams. Thanks Eric, Jeff, Greg and Nicholas for making my visits to the Grand B extra special!
Really cool boutique hotel. Quiet and funky. Lots of cool art all over, interesting colors and a very attentive staff. The room was nice with a big shower and nice amenities. ( Towels are a step below luxurious though). Restaurant/bar are really nice. Cooking school and wine tasting/blending classes looked interesting.
Room was okay, however the artwork and Food were outstanding. Right across the street is the Zoo and Botanical Gardens nice treat. Lot's of little shops next door. all in all a nice place to hang your hat. Seriously the food is outstanding.
Not the greatest location but was able to get there. Hotel is close to Highland Bar & Grill, an excellent restaurant. Do not recommend hotel restaurant as food there was terrible and over priced. Highland Bar & Grill is worth a trip to Birmingham.
We had dinner here at the recommendation of friends. The service was good and the food as good but not great. Not certain we would return here again with other beter restaurants in the Birmingham area.
Medina the new host was so kind. Her smile lit up the whole room. She really went out of the way to make me and my wife feel special on a very sad day for us and I’m so thankful for that. I hope the restaurant gets more good people like that
My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and had a fantastic time, so great that we wish we’d booked another. The room is very comfy and modern with plenty of well placed outlets(for charging all those tech gadgets). A great bathroom set up with perfect water pressure. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, especially the valet staff(great job)! I live that you are able to send a text to request your car....why haven’t more places thought if that! The hotel location is great as well, a few neat shops within walking distance as well as great walking trails and eating spots. However, when it comes to eating or having a cold one...the hotel bar and restaurant are perfect! There’s nothing better than a beautiful breezy day on a rooftop bar by a comfy fire. We had the roasted Brussels sprouts and a Never Ending Summer cocktail....both were fantastic! While this is a great spot for couples, it would also be perfect for a girls weekend, nothing better than a day at the spa, cooking classes, and wine blending classes....I hope to try all these amenities out in the future!
The decor and vibe of this hotel reflects it's name. We are familiar with the sister hotel in Beaver Creek so it was what we expected. It was the hotel recommended by the Porsche Experience - which is what brought us here. The rooms are generous in size and comfort. The staff is helpful and attentive. The hotel right across the street from the Botanical Garden which allowed me to be able to visit each day we were here. Our stay is reminiscent of the sister hotel an Ashville, NC. The whole area reminded me of Ashville - I loved it.
I was in the Birmingham area for work and was recommended this hotel from a colleague and all I can saw is wow. The property and room was immaculate and the staff went over and beyond to make sure that my stay was pleasurable and I had everything that I needed. Great on property restaurant as well. This will be the only hotel that I will stay at in the Birmingham area going forward!
