This was my second stay at Petit Palace. After I was aloud to change room due to problems with the AC that just produced warm air into my tiny room I had a really nice stay. Friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel very well located, with good accommodation in terms of cost benefit. What struck me most was the excellent service from the staff, especially at the front desk, the receptionists Phoebe, Rosa, Marcia and Noelia really made my stay at the hotel most enjoyable.
I had a pleasant stay at Petit Palace Arana. The staff was always friendly and helpful. This hotel is very conveniently located to many restaurants and sites. The Guggenheim Museum is minutes walk away. The park along the river and the views of the bridges were breathtaking. I am a woman and I traveled solo. I felt safe everywhere I went. I love walking and did much of it with no concerns.
I was a bit unsure what to expect having read some of the other Trip Advisor reviews, but from the moment we stepped out of the lift I was so pleasantly surprised. The reception area is quite small and sometimes crowded, but there are sweets on the desk, a sofa and newspapers, and fruit infused water on offer if you have to wait. The staff are friendly and helpful with directions and maps if needed. And there is a secure area to leave your bags if you need to, and these are all properly tagged for extra security. The hotel has some really quirky features in the communal areas that set it apart from the sterile hotels we often find ourselves in, including exposed beams and brickwork and the creaking floorboards that others have complained about. Yes, we sometimes heard them creaking, but it was momentary while our neighbours moved to and from their rooms. It's nothing to remotely complain about. The room itself was spacious and modern and the welcome cava and sweets were much appreciated. The bed was large and comfy, with robes and slippers provided, and the bathroom was roomy and fully stocked with any toiletries we needed, although these weren't replenished during our stay unless we specifically asked for them. It was also pleasing that towels were only changed when we wanted them to be, unlike in other hotels which claim to care for the environment yet replace the towels every day regardless of whether they're left hanging up or on the floor. The hotel is extremely well located, close to many bars and restaurants, a wonderful art deco theatre and the cathedral and market. We walked everywhere we wanted to go, from the Guggenheim to the Bullring Museum and everywhere in between. Breakfast every morning was a delight. The breakfast room seems relatively small, but the staff who work there are constantly back and forth clearing tables and replenishing the food on offer. There are the usual meats and cheeses, fresh bread, warm tortilla, a variety of juices, hot drinks and cereals, fresh fruit and a different selection of sweet breads and pastries every day. We ate very well! The room also caters very well for small children, though we never saw any, with child size tables and chairs and a selection of toys. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here if I ever find myself in Bilbao again, and would recommend Petit Palace Arana.
Excellent breakfast vegan friendly, with space for kids and good and kind staff service. The location is well situated in the centre of the town. The hotel has a nice admosphere... We are happy to had choosed this hotel.
Fabulous location in the lovely old town. Comfy and warm room with everything you could need. The staff were really friendly and helpful.Found the glass bathrom walls took a bit of getting used to! Breakfast was amazing.
Rooms are a bit dated and there is a faint but distinctive odour in the bathroom suggesting some moisture issues. Good bed but had to sleep with the window open due to too warm interior (even the air conditioning didn't help). Breakfast is great and the service during was really warm and courteous.
We arrived by train to Bilbao and literally crossed the bridge and we were at the hotel. No taxi necessary. Talk about a perfect location. Lovely staff there to welcome us. Paula checked us in and gave us loads of useful information about the city. Breakfast was good and convenient. Loved our cozy beds. This hotel was recommended to us by two different friends and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone going to Bilbao.
This hotel is a 19th Century building and just on the edge of the old town. The staff were friendly and the area was amazing and steps away from everything you needed for a four day stay. We had booked a double room with balcony which was a kind of enclosed balcony. The bed was two single beds pushed together but didn't really matter and were extremely comfortable! You could hear people walking along the creaky corridors but it is a 19th building after all! The view was lovely and considering it was in the midst of the town, it was pretty quite at night. The room was clean with service everyday. The decor was a little shabby and worn in places but again, didn't affect our stay. Must mention that although the bathroom has a lovely interesting glass screen and door, the door doesn't lock and there isn't much privacy! interesting shower, lots of whistles and bells which weren't necessary. We had a tv but couldn't get any English channels on it despite the receptionist explaining the code. They didn't follow our comments up and didn't seem too bothered but in the end we weren't too bothered about watching tv! We didn't have breakfast here as we thought that although it looked good (13 euros), we preferred to venture off to find breakfast at cafes in the local area which was cheaper. The hotel room doesn't have tea/coffee making facilities but they did supply a kettle and cups etc on request. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay and loved the Guggenheim and wealth of beautiful art and architecture here. A place rich with culture and interesting history and we walked for miles around the city just discovering areas. You can't beat this place for location and did like the general atmosphere of the hotel and we were very lucky to have excellent sunny weather!
I warmly recommend this one of Bilbao's. Oldest historical hotel. My arrival was very pleasant, thanks to lovely Monika and Marta at the reception. They warmly welcomed me and had even organised a welcome treat of complimentary fruits in my hotelroom. Breakfast in this hotel is the best possible and done by a very effective and warm host: Ursula. She organises a tidy, beautifully laid and tasty breakfast with many sort of smoothies, berries, youghurt and all traditional continental breakfast ingredients. This was a stay to think, do and thank. Highly recommendable place to stay even longer period. The location of this hotel is perfect: by the riverside and only from 15 minutes walk from Guggenheim.
