This ETAP is OK. Everything you'd expect from a cheap hotel. Food wasn't that good. Rooms are smell but the the trick for short stays. Bed was a bit hard but still managed to sleep. Book before you travel. Hotel put prices up 3 times we were there. £110 on Saturday, £49 on Sunday and Monday then back up to £75 yesterday. What's that about. Cleaners forgot to take towels and give us toilet rolls. Best thing was it's close by to restaurants, cinema, tesco also coach and train stations. Is quite noisy too with there being a club next door. Students everywhere.
Good location with plenty of places to eat iand drink in immediate area. Very close to all that Belfast has to offer. Rooms are basic, clean with a good continental breakfast. I would definitely return for the low price that we paid.
This is a basic hotel with small rooms with small shower and toilet spaces. The sink is actually in the room. Quite expensive at 100£ for a Saturday night. However this seems about the rate in the area for a Saturday night. Comfortable and clean, some work currently ongoing so a smell of paint on the 6 floor. Had to change one room because of this. Decided to have breakfast in a small cafe down the road for the same price as the hotel breakfast,
Horrible staff, so lazy they spend all their time sitting in office while guests wait. Had no bowls at breakfast, took 20 minutes as they washed up bowls for overpriced continental breakfast, do not take cash but not stated in website, totally overpriced for what you get, do yourself a favour and stay anywhere else!
Arrived early at the hotel and they held our bags until our rooms were ready allowing us to go around the city. On arrival to the room, we found it very basic, almost reminding us of student accommodation. The toilet had no lock on the door and a gap at the bottom meaning you could hear what the person was up too. There was no storage for clothes except a tiny rail which didn't hold much. Our room was wet on arrival too. The shower leaked out when you had one as the door did not close properly. There was also no tea and coffee facilities in the room which most hotels have. This was an inconvenience as we were running the Belfast half marathon and brought our own porridge pots with us. My husband also got stuck in the lift. Fortunately he was able to ring me through the WiFi so I could go down and tell the reception staff. He and the other lady in the lift pressed the bell button but when it tried to ring the number it kept saying 'number not recognised'. Hotel is good if you are looking very very basic accommodation. Wouldn't recommend and won't book for next year.
I stayed here with my friend to go to a concert. My friend went back to the room before me and had the key card. When i arrived at the front door at 11.30pm the bouncer asked me were i was going i said room no 123.. he said were is your card i explained my friend was in the room already, had the card and i give my name and room number. Then the bouncer asked me for my "passport" i said i didn't have it, why do i need it i ask? He then asked were i was from.. i said derry. His reply was "coming here trying to shoot us are u?" I was in shook. He then said "no card no passport no entry". My phone was dead. I sat for 2 hours outside freezing with none then i looked over and seen the same bouncer punch a middle aged women to the ground.. when she was on her knees he went over to her, the other smaller bouncer called me over and let me in.. i dont no why he didn't do this at the start.. Also my mother and friends also had the same experience with the same bully bouncer. When they went to check in the reception desk give them the wrong room as they wer double booked they went into then room and someone else ws staying there, when they went to reception they got a complimentary drink because of the mix up, then out of nower bully bouncer who says hes an "ex police man" came along acting like a nutter for no reason and put them out. A 63 years of age women paid for the night had to travel 75 miles home.. disgrace and never be back. Just be aware before you book. The reception staff are nice.. door staff a joke.
Clean, modern, compact rooms, a bit weird layout in the rooms, ok service and pretty good basic breakfast. Location is really good. Slept well, no complaints about noise or anything. Suitable for couples and friends.
Hotel Etap is a decent budget hotel close to the city centre and train/bus station. Our room was on the small side but perfectly adequate for our needs. The cleanliness of the room wasn't 100% perfect but good enough. There aren't any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms but there is free tea & decaf coffee down by the reception area. The proper coffee is free at breakfast time but you have to pay for it during the day. Any croissants/pain aux chocolates left over from breakfast are left in a basket on reception for guests to help themselves to; I thought that was a nice touch and a good way of helping reduce food waste.
Prior to even getting here we tried to make contact with the hotel regarding concerns read on previous reviews. Completely unable to get an answer, having to go through 3 different Expedia departments to get through to someone! On arrival, there was an awful smell as you walk in the main door. The girl who checked us in was lovely, but that's where the positives end. The carpets in the corridors need vaccumed, and we inspected the room thoroughly on going in. The floor was unclean, and the shower still had hair in it from a previous resident. The toilet is little more than a cubicle, and had a "stain" on the inside. With the shower in the main body of the bedroom, I hope you're not shy! The bedframe was dusty and hadn't been cleaned, and to top it off there was a pubic hair on top of the sheets, which did appear clean otherwise. The bed itself was sufficient for a decent sleep, thankfuly we were on the quiet side of the hotel because the noise from the nightclub next door is very loud. On checking out, the girl on the desk who barely spoke a word of English could not have been more rude. We were not asked about our stay, merely given our hairdryer deposit of £10 back and she turned her back on us. Would not recommend this hotel really, disappointing experience all round.
Basic accomodation. Small room and shower but you get what you pay for so this is acceptable. What I don't find acceptable in the cleanliness of the room. Skirting boards and bedside table thick with dust and visible dirt. Mentioned this to receptionist asking if when housekeeping do room please could they clean. Reception staff polite but it was never cleaned.
