Could perform better. This hotel has all the features to become the flagship hotel of beijing. Although concierge was really weak. Not speaking english.MUST! The room was really good. The concierge could not book us a taxi. Breakfast was average..Very local. The suites are amazing.
My mother and I stayed at this hotel from Feb 22-25 this year. The place was absolutely glamorous. The best was its gym, sauna, and steam room. I also enjoyed warmth of the staff tending the gym since I used it daily in the early mornings (Though the gym room temperature was quite high - not like all the gyms in the States that has lower than normal temperature). However like many things in China, hardware often times surpasses the "software", in this case, the operation efficiency. One example is the refunds for "incidentals." I found the $473 incidental charge held on my visa card has still not cleared on March 5th, Almost 9 days after we checked out from the hotel on Feb 28th. I was told by the front desk staff that it should be cleared in 3-5 days. I ended up calling the hotel from US on March 5th. A nice lady last name Liu answered the phone at the central switch board and agreed to let the front desk know and get me the refund (the line to the front desk was busy at the time so she took initiative to help me which is admirable - although she initially told me to call back in a little while - which would be midnight here in NE US). I am curios to see if my credit card will post a refund in 24 hours. Be prepared that even China's top hotel may have not yet learned what takes to run a truly first class hotel. Li (Connecticut)
I booked this hotel because it was a Sofitel using my A Club membership. Starting end of year the contract with Sofitel ended so they are now Wanda Vista. I was hesitant in the beginning but DO STAY even without the Sofitel brand. It is a great hotel with a great location and the staff and everything is great. I have to mention Paul Zhang who really took care of our stay. And every time I see him he remembers my name and would ask if we needed anything. This hotel is about 100 meters to a shopping complex and another 300 meters to another one. So pretty good with a great food court within the shopping complex. Getting a taxi was also not a problem. A Club or Accor on the other hand is a disappointment. I am a platinum member. They did not advise that Wanda is not Sofitel anymore. They did not advise that they took this hotel from their list and all of a sudden my booking in their web page which was prepaid was missing. And when I called their attention to this. They said they are not obliged as there is a "fine print" written somewhere that handles this kind of end of contract issues. Hiding in a "fine print" statement when caught not doing your job is an embarrassment.
Was at the hotel during Nov last year with family. Rooms were spacious, nice and comfy. Morning breakfast was a good local and international spread. 2 Shopping Malls were just next to it. Superb location.
The public spaces and bedrooms are looking increasingly tired. Ten years ago, this was one of the best Sofitels in the world but not much recent investment in room upgrades. Room rates have been adjusted downward. Still, this is a well-located, safe and comfortable hotel with one of the best breakfast buffets in Beijng (in the sixth floor restaurant). In case you are bored, the founder of Wanda Group has generously placed a copy of his autobiography in every bedroom.
I've been a regular here over the past few years and just recently spent over a week at Sotfitel Wanda Beijing. I was told during my last stay that the hotel will no longer contract with Sofitel going forward (by End of Dec 2017) and during this stay I have observed a drastic drop in the quality of service and attention to detail. Most of the staff is obviously demoralized and this showed. Unfortunately this was by far my worst stay at Sofitel Wanda Beijing in a long time.
We spent a very enjoyable week at The Sofitel Wanda Beijing. Service in Reception and Lounge on The Club Floor is well organized by all the girls. Friendly and more than helpful. Breakfast and drinks in the evening, delicious. Very good location. No complaints.Thank you to all the staff. Regards....R. & S. Shiel
My opinion is positive excecpt for the fact that the room heating system was set with a cap of 22ºC and irrespective of the settings I did on the regulation system, the maximum temperature it woudl ever get to is that 22º. Totally unacceptable in such a high level hotel. In fact I was there before several times and I dont recall such a preset limitation. Very bad thing for a luxury hotel
Went here in March 2017 and we stayed here for 3 nights 4 days. The hotel is very luxurious and as soon as you dive into your bed you fall asleep. The massive bathroom has a bathing area as well a tub, there is also a television present in the tub. The breakfast is lavish and there are numerous restaurants to choose from. It is a formal hotel with michellin star rated restaurants. No outside corridor noise can be heard inside the room. It gives you your privacy and it isn't very crowded.
We stayed over 4 nights at this Wanda hotel, Location is fine as it is close to shopping and subway station.The building structure and finishing are 5 star spec but the software are in dire need of more training and polishing to meet the expectation of a 5 star hotel, the front desk is slow, staffs are not courteous and lack of training for their job, I checked with the concierge and they are not knowledgeable on basic questions; like where is the closest clinic hospital, how to make long distance collect calls, any other local tour beside the only one available in their book, sad to say the design of the room is awkward; such as you have to swing around in order to close the double doors in bathroom. WiFi is weak and slow, No one know what a ice pack is but deliver a plate of ice cube instead. We found black moldy chauking inside the shower stall and continuous leaking shower faucet which is very annoying at night. Breakfast is decent with many choices and service is fine. Overall the hotel staffs are lack of training and fitness to become a truly 5 star establishment. Many details of services are not up to bar. Sorry not recommended as there are many other better choices out in the city
