Holiday Inn Express Beijing Airport Zone3.0 out of 5.0

What can be said? This Holiday Inn Express is tired, depressing, and smells like urine on most floors. When we arrived, several rooms had doors open, industrial fans working, furniture turned upside down. Looks like there may be some leaking issues... On the upside, the staff seems friendly enough. However, check-in for a group is a nightmare since they have a strange system and it takes forever. Internet is not only patchy but unforgivably slow. Driving back here from the city took 2 hours during rush hour, so be prepared for that. Won't be staying here again. There are MUCH better options to be had in Beijing.
Well, booked this hotel due to proximity to Beijing Airport. We were returning from Hong Kong and my friend was flying back to the US and we were getting into Beijing very late. Well, the price is very inviting. There are almost no stores nearby with the exception of a 7-Eleven which was cool. My room felt like a cave and it felt quite dusty. My friend's room was a little more bright and cheerful. We both had a plate of fruit in our room, but it was difficult to know how long it had been in there. In the morning, breakfast was typical for a Holiday Inn, but I didn't care for much of it. The shower water pressure was good. Oh yeah, the free wifi was lousy and kept going in and out. As far as the free airport shuttle advertised, while there were signs for it, the lobby staff informed me that it would not be available for us the next day, so we took a taxi and it did not cost too much. Overall, if you leave your expectations in the parking lot, this hotel is decent for one night, but I know I will not return.
The hotel staff is professional and friendly. Although a bit remote with no restaurants nor shops nearby, 7-11 is down the corner so is good for a night stay, plus order-in is very easy so meal is not a problem. The room is spacious, however the air con wasn't working properly the entire night. Called maintenance and someone was sent to fix the problem unfortunately the problem was not fixed. I could've called and asked for a different room but was too tired to switch. Breakfast is complimentary and good quality.
This hotel is around a 20 minute taxi ride from Beijing's International Airport. It is one of the few Holiday Inn Express with a restaurant not only serving breakfast, but conveniently also lunch, dinner and snacks. The staff is friendly and helpful and taxis are easy and fast to get. However, during my one day, one night stay, the internet connection in my room appeared to be very instable and it was the same when i tried it at the restaurant/lobby. It was impossible for me to work at the hotel and ultimately, before and after my business meetings, I had to go somewhere else to do my work. Also, the water temperature from the shower was impossible to keep stable, one moment it was good, the next it would be either steaming hot or ice cold. Very uncomfortable.
Had one night business trip needed cash used Hotel foyer ATM gave out forged notes ! Scammed by local taxi drivers Hotel refused to swap notes and take responsibility Would never consider holiday in china due to this experience Be warned
Yes, only 20 Minutes from the airport, even in the morning rush hour. For $61 we had a beautiful room well worth the expense. Seemed to be very new, super clean, crisp sheets, nice decor, even the hallways were pleasantly hued and carpeted. Included buffet breakfast a great mix of Chinese and Western options. Though we arrived early in the day, we were given a room within 30 minutes, as soon as one was cleaned and readied. By 10 am we had had breakfast and were in our room... to watch Obama's final speech! Sub zero temp outside but lobby dining area was lovely and warming with self-made espressos and lattes. Loved the shower with its ample space and amenities. Bed was a comfortable firmness. Seems to be true, free shuttle only one way... only returning to the airport on the hour, in the morning, until 1pm.
The Hotel is quite close to the Airport zone (around 25 RMB/15 minutes of taxi) and the price is quite low. Hotel rooms are well equipped and clean. English speaking person is alway present at the desk. NOTE: The free shuttle is present only from the Hotel to the Airport at fixed hours (each 2 hour from 7 am) from Monday to Friday. No shuttle from the Airport to the hotel. NOTE2: It is quite difficult for the Taxi driver to find the hotel. It is inside an office block in front of the Hospital. NOTE3: Nothing is present in the nearby, no restaurant and no bar. You need the taxi to go everywhere.
Had a long layover and didn't want to stay too far from airport and this was a good location. Although a bit hard to find, it's only 15 minutes from the airport, close to a convenience store and some decent food nearby too.
None of the taxi drivers knew this address. One kind taxi driver called the hotel to find the address. Tip would be to get the hotel name in Chinese. Tip is to ask the taxi driver to take you to Di tan hospital as this hospital is just opposite it. Later we got to know that the taxi drivers just say they don't know the address since its nearby and not lucrative for them. I was lucky to be travelling with a mandarin speaker or else I'd have either been ripped off or been stuck for a long time. The hotel provides transfers at 100 rnb per person. Ridiculous! The hotel itself is very good and the usual holiday Inn express experience in china. Very clean and quiet rooms. Excellent bathroom amenities and comfortable beds. The breakfast spread is lavish and keeps you going. In the end I would not chose this HIE simply because of the location and the difficulties to reach there contradicting the fact that this is supposed to be an airport hotel. I'd rather stay somewhere in Beijing west as the time taken would be almost similar, lesser hassle and cheaper. This would property would only be considered if there is hotel pick and drop included in the price of the room, or else do not bother.
Albeit having challenges with language, the people at the reception went out of their way to understand our requests and address them. There was no fridge and i called up to ask them if I had missed seeing it. Even without my requesting, the send over a fridge. They have free shuttle to airport. Wish they had from the airport too.
