I stayed here for one night but planed on staying a month! HA on the guy behind the front desk! The room was nice, liked the room and wished i had a better experience with the front desk man. I booked through a travel site and on my mobile device. I wasnt sure if it booked the night on the wrong date or not. Went in and asked him to check for me if it indeed had because he would be able to see it in his vacancy log and he said oh no for sure it didnt, not to worry. The next day at check out i asked him again, to be sure he didn't have me as checking in on that date and he said no, i see noting. dont worry about it. Got back on the road to go tie up some loose ends before checking in for a month for work and checked my account and hed charged me. I called him and he acted like he didn't do it. but when i contacted the travel site they told me if he agrees they would refund me. But of course he didn't agree and kept the money. The travel site said that they believed me and gave it back to me. went to another hotel across the street and payed for a whole month, he lost his owner money by stealing that extra day.
The wifi was spotty, and there was no facial tissue in the dispensers. But here's the kicker: My husband and daughter weren't allowed to bring their "free continental breakfast" to our room. No reason was given. I've never been to any hotel where the guests weren't allowed food in the room. It's a given that people eat in their rooms, especially one with a freakin kitchenette. Only reasonable explanation is that this place is run by racist jerks. That's fine, won't be back.
Roaches everywhere!!! When we checked into the room we saw a couple of dead roaches in the floor but within 30 minutes they were crawling on the bed, nightstand, and up the walls. The front desk clerk tried to be helpful and move rooms but there were roaches in other rooms also. The motel is infested. The owner was called and nothing was done. We had to change hotels and we are out 450$ for this dump.
Hotel was clean and service was ok. Shower handle was broken when we arrived. Still worked so we didn't complain. They surprisingly fixed it in the middle of our stay. I figured it would be a bigger deal. We found a beer package behind the fridge. Not a huge deal. The breakfast was pretty bad. Instant eggs and dry dry grits. Worse is that if you put anything in the toaster you had to shut off the coffee pot or everything shut off. Which made the food cold. No water to drink except out of tap on sink. Milk was tepid. I recommend eating elsewhere.
The hotel was easy to find, it was loaded with Oil Company workers. Which that is OK, but I suggest that the hotel clean up the over full trash cans at the bottom of the stairs. The Ice machine was clear across the next to the office, which is fine if you are on that side. There is no elevator, all doors are on the outside, which is OK, but the gap at the bottom of our door was huge. Glad they offered us extra towels in the room to put in that space to keep bugs out. I have to say that the worker's were all great, quiet and not loud when leaving in the morning. Breakfast was nice, they had several hot items. I think they fix something different every day. Of course there were the usual, waffles, cereal, breads, Owners at the desk were all very nice and friendly. The toilet was rather noisy, kept running. Told the desk when we checked out. The counter with the sink was outside the toilet area and was really large. Pretty quiet stay, but then again, we were on the top at the end and no one was next to us, except for the toilet continuously running.
We had enough points for 1 night then paid for the other 3 because the price was right. We were in room 224 which was a nice size room in a corner so it was quiet. There was a couch in a seperate area which was ok. There wasn't a closet, just a rack with hangers on it in the bathroom area which was strange. The bed was pretty comfortable but bedding was old and dated. The baseboards going into the bathroom area were masked taped to the edges. The free breakfast was the same every morning, scrambled eggs, potatoes that looked like grits at first, tortillas, salsa, country gravy, waffle maker, fruit, bagels, toast and a few pastries, apple juice, orange juice and 2 kinds of cereal. Same every day which was kind of blah. The hotel was right off the 73 so that was nice and appears that a lot of factory and refinery workers stay here during the week and sometimes weeks at a time. I would not stay here again but for someone on a budget it would work. There is a very small pool as well. The front desk people were nice.
I stayed for one night using a discounted rate and was very satisfied with my stay. We didn't get breakfast or try out the wi-fi but as far as the room and front desk staff things were good. Very friendly and chatty man at the desk who had my paper ready when I walked in also allowed me an 11:30 check out time. No complaints other than my GPS telling me to exit after passing the entrance to the hotel.
After driving by and seeing the place empty for 3 weeks when we passed by that way again we couldn't help but notice There was a sign on the building that said weekly rate $249.99 +tax. So me and my family got our luggage together and went to get a room. When we arrived they said no weekly rates were available available and that the price was $449.68 that they didn't offer anything at that price advertised. So I called the corporate office complained suggesting that the sign should be taken down and that I thought that was very inconsiderate of them. I have a 1 month old and a 7 year old pulse the ice and rain so to have to unload and load and unload again I am frustrated.very poor work eithic to put up a sign to drown customers in yet to lazy to make them stay. Very unsatisfactory.
I had some reservations about staying at this hotel after reading some of the recent reviews. I wonder exactly what these reviewers were expecting from a budget hotel. My friend and I actually found the hotel to be quite reasonable for the price. The rooms were cleaned late in the morning and were always ready by early afternoon. The beds were comfortable and it seemed as if the windows and door were designed to muffle out most of the street noise. Except for the first night (which was extremely warm and humid) we slept very well. We were here for a total of four nights. There was a cooktop in our room but no utensils or pans to use to cook food. I guess you have to bring those. It’s little difficult when you’re not driving around in your own vehicle to carry these things. The breakfast was basic but compared to other hotels that charge much more it can hold its own. There is a selection of fresh fruit, two cereals, bread (for toasting), bagels, two choices of fruit juice (apple and orange), brewed coffee and a station set up to cook your own waffles. The front desk staff were always chirpy and helpful with any questions. It is always great to be greeted with a smile after a long journey. The location is within walking distance to a supermarket and a vast selection of restaurants. There also appeared to be ample parking space. The pool although small appeared to be sparkling clean and very well maintained. The Wi-Fi was free which is always a plus for any accommodation. As far as budget hotels go, I would rate this 4.5 stars out of 5. A very pleasant stay and would definitely consider staying here again if I was in Port Arthur. Well Done Econo Lodge.
Broken toilet seat, coffee maker that didn't work properly, light bulb missing from a lamp, and a gap underneath the door to allow lots of cold air to blow in. I got screwed for paying an extra night unnecessarily and not getting a refund from this site. Never going to use it to book again. Very dissastisfied.
