I arrived and found the staff to be helpful and friendly, my room was ready prior to my early morning arrival. In fact, they emailed me a week prior to arriving to confirm my arrival time so that they could have it ready. I'm unsure why there are so many negative reviews on this hotel. I saw many that reference mold or mildew issues and this concerned me prior to arrival. I found NO such issue with water leaks, mold or mildew in the lounge, the first floor, the entry, the room or any other floors I explored. I did not even encounter the faintest smell of mold or mildew during my stay! The room was a pretty standard European room, mine was upgraded to the 7th floor with a beautiful balcony and a nice view! This was great because a church a few blocks away plays the church bells every hour and you can just sit outside admiring the weather and the sounds of Barcelona! There is no executive lounge for gold and platinum members but this is compensated by granting an included breakfast on the 1st floor. The breakfast was a fairly standard buffet with a decent selection. Location is also great, we were within 1 mile (20 minutes) walking distance from most attractions and by cab everywhere else it was never more than 15 Euro. There are great places around the corner for a bite to eat at any time of the day! Ultimately for the money, I think I got what I paid for. The staff was friendly, and kind, the drinks at the bar were perfect! Fabio was awesome the entire week taking care of all of us!

First, I should start out by saying that I am a diamond Hilton member.   Hoewever, for the last several years, when attending work conferences in Berlin, I have stayed in the Autograph Steinplatz hotel and have had FANTASTIC service.  I stayed there because my team did, and it made sense to stay together while being abroad.  But I always wanted to go back.  I just figured as a boutique hotel, this was exceptional service.  Our conferences have now moved to Barcelona and my team stayed at the Renaissance Barcelona.  Wow, again the service has been wonderful.  And I need to highlight one person in particular, Teresa, who helped me and my family (whom I brought along on this trip) in ways above and beyond normal expectations.  From ski trips to cars, to dinners and shows, not only was she amazing and friendly, but she was sincere.  After we got back from an excursion, or my wife and daughter did, she took the time to just talk to us, sit down and relive the day.  She was a friend and a helper, always professional and always friendly.  I felt like I was staying at a hotel above and beyond the class that this is at.  I cannot express how much her service and friendliness added to our time here in Barcelona, she is a gem and I hope to be here again later in the year.  Her and the folks at Steinplatz have really made me debate forgoing my diamond status and moving over to Marriott, because this is certainly something to be proud of!  Thank you!

We stayed for two nights. The room was very good size and looked out to a quiet courtyard. The bathroom was extremely nice with a tub and marble floor. Breakfast is an excellent buffet with choices for everyone. The location is also excellent--about 15 minutes to the main shopping area of Las Ramblas which is very close to the old Gothic quarter. So I definitely recommend this hotel.

We booked this for just one night, passing through town. We walked from here to the beach and back hitting many of the attractions along the way. The hotel itself is very nice. There is a beautiful terrace on the eighth floor. Friendly and helpful staff. We didn’t have the time to enjoy the food here. I would certainly stay here again

Stayed two nights before our Viking Cruise. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and Housekeeping accommodating. The daily breakfast buffet had an “American” section as well as a large selection of local foods. The Navigator personnel were very helpful as were the restaurant staff.

Stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for three nights and had a fantastic time. Things got off to a great start when we arrived before midday from the airport and found out that our room was ready for us at that point. All staff we interacted with did everything with a smile - reception team, bar staff, housekeeping. All so pleasant. The location off Passeig de Gracia means that you're only 3 minutes walk from the Metro, 10 minutes walk from La Ramba and 15 minutes walk from La Sagrada Familia. The one comment I'd make is that we were going to be charged extra for the WiFi when we attempted to log in. We didn't do so, but thought that free WiFi would be a given and included in the hotel rate.

We’ve stayed at multiple Renaissance hotels around the world - we won’t be coming back to this one. Pros: good location Cons: - Uneven treatment: (1) when other guests walk into the hotel, they are greeted with a smile. When my partner and I come in, the security guards stare at us and make sure we actually have a room key card. (2) the other guests are proactively served during the bfast buffet. My partner and I haven’t even been told that there is a menu to order from and it’s now day 3. We’ve only figured it out by overhearing and seeing what other guests are served. The difference is stark and makes us feel uncomfortable to even come into the hotel. My partner and I are an interracial couple that don’t look like most guests - we travel a lot and for the most part don’t encounter issues but every once in a while are made to feel like we don’t belong. We studied abroad in Barcelona (and lived just around the corner) so know the area and issues well but figured it would be different at a Renaissance hotel. - Poor elite recognition: I’m platinum and definitely understand that upgrades are based on availability. When we checked in, we were told we were “upgraded” to a higher floor. Same exact room which would have been fine but a simple search online shows executive rooms, suites and other rooms are available. - Other shortcomings: (1) our key cards have stopped working on multiple occasions, (2) when we checked in, we weren’t told about any of the facilities, amenities, or services (we weren’t even told that we had bfast included until we asked ourselves). To be clear - we LOVE Marriott and almost always choose to stay at their properties because we always have a consistently great experience. This Renaissance just doesn’t meet their standards for a variety of reasons. There are A LOT of hotels in the same area - book elsewhere.

I took my family to Barcelona in December 2017 to watch a football match and enjoy the city. Our stay was nothing less than outstanding thanks to the hotel staff and their professional service. They were very attentive to all our requests and they made sure we had a great stay. Special thanks to Chris B. at the front office who went out of his way during our time there.

stayed here 2 nights in conjunction with a Viking ocean cruise. Booked through them as part of this trip we were mainly disappointed with the Viking end of things. Way over priced for what we received. Tour terrible they provided at end. Rooms via Viking way over priced. In future we will book on our own. Check in with hotel done expertly with Diana . She made a great first impression. She is a major asset for this hotel. Breakfast provided in the hotel package was 5star....absolutely fantastic. Nice dining area and staff. Our room was quiet and never any issues with that. The location of this hotel to popular destinations is also fantastic. Can walk to most. On the negative side, we felt the room could be a little cleaner and tidy. The size of the room and bath for what we paid was extremely small. We would stay here again, but for much , much lower price than what we paid.

Very helpful Reception and Breakfast staff. Comfortable and clean room. Great location, short walk to Metro Passeig de Gracia and Girona as well as easy walk to Gaudi's brilliant Casa Batllo and Palau de la Musica Catalonia, two "must sees" amongst many architectural highlights Barcelona has to offer.
