This is not a five star hotel. While the location is excellent the room was not cleaned properly, dirty towels were picked off the floor and put back on the towel racks by housekeeping staff, and the mini bar to which one has free access was not replenished. The room itself was large enough by European standards, but the wood floor was badly scratched as, surprisingly, were the windows. There are only two drawers in the entire room and so if you stay for any length of time that means you have to live out of your suitcase. The breakfast buffet is very limited and not of good quality. The dinner food in the bar was somewhat better. The staff is friendly enough and the lobby is attractive. As a Marriott Platinum member I have stayed at many fine Marriott hotels around the world and this is not one of them. If location is important to you I am sure there are many better options near by/
We asked for and received a room on a higher floor with a fantastic view. Although we arrived at the hotel at 10:00 AM the room was not ready until 4:00. We got such a great room the wait was worth it. They held our while we explored the area. We found the room clean and completely acceptable. Our only problem was the shower hose that kept coming loose from its base wetting the bathroom floor. We did not eat at the hotel as the prices were a little high but the hotel is surrounded by wonderful restaurants with great food at reasonable prices. We would stay there again without hesitation.
Booked as part of a package so not directly chosen by me. Nicely situated in Eixample, easy to find. Room was a standard suite - clean enough (a few niggles) - maybe slightly worn around the edges |(loose bath tap, some loose light fittings, that kind of thing). Bed was comfy, all the usual amenities in the room, including tea & coffee. Had ordered some flowers to be in the room - these were there, plus a bottle of Cava 'with compliments' so very nice & very grateful, thank-you! The staff to be honest I found were generally friendly & helpful. no problems there. Breakfast was a buffet - slightly strange in some ways; not a huge hot selection, lots of local cold choice (ham, cheese, etc) - to be fair a little disappointing maybe (I've had better breakfast buffets in ostensibly lower rated hotels) but overall I guess perfectly acceptable. Didn't eat here in the evening so can't comment. The rooftop bar on the 8th floor is rather nice - great view over the city. This hotel seemed more geared for business & tour groups; I can see why holiday companies use it. The staff however are great. I would maybe stop here again but there are other better hotels in the city I'm sure for the same cost.
We were there in May 2018 so a perfect time to be in Barcelona. The staff was e cellent, the bar and restaurant we did not try except for breakfast and then we found it top notch. We had a massage to recover from jet lag and The Who,e experience was inviting. Lovely clean well decorated rooms with lots of space. Central location. Would definitely come again. It is like a boutique hotel.
Nice property in a good location a couple blocks from Las Ramblas. Typical efficient Marriott property. Rooms are European style and sized. Very efficient with easy check in and check out. There is a nice balcony bar on the 7th or 8th floor. The breakfast buffet was good as well. The hotel had an extremely good Navigator Teresa.
The hotel is located close to Passeig de Gràcia, easy to connect to the rest of Barcelona. The rooms are fine, good mattress and pillows, the bathroom clean and with the right amenities. Breakfast is also good, à la carte is possible. It was curious to see that the front desk could guide you to all the touristic places (which I do not need, but I witnessed them guiding the tourists) but could not tell a good seafood restaurant close by. All in all, I liked it, good value for money.
Currently staying here, and as a relative of a family member who works for Marriott I have stayed at quite a lot Marriott around the world. However, this was the most unfriendly and rude welcoming I have had upon arrival and check in. The man who checked us in (bold older guy), was miserable and abrupt, didn’t give any additional info about the hotel e.g where facilities were, connecting to wi-fi, how to use the lift, what floor our room was on etc. And when asking about breakfast and how much it was he pretty much told us we wouldn’t be able to afford it as it was very expensive - which I found extremely rude. Who is he to decide if I can afford something or not?? I would have happily paid the €25 for breakfast actually, but after that comment we decided not to even bother!! There’s plenty of nice little cafes surrounding the hotel for a fraction of the price. When asking about the WiFi he said it would be added to our room complimentary but I’m currently writing this using my 4G as it appears to have not been added. The rudeness aside, the hotel is in a fab location with all the sites in walking distance. Taxi from the airport cost €30 and was only about 20 minutes away which was great. The bar staff are really friendly and helpful and make great cocktails- and the bar food was good too. Overall, having a great stay just a shame the welcome wasn’t great - first impressions and all that!!
We enjoyed our stay in hotel they were very responsive to our needs. Our tv was not working they sent someone right up to fix it . The restaurant is outstanding food and serve were great. Only problem is the hotel is in a industry area so you have to take a shuttle or taxi to go to city. If you are coming one night for a cruise ship or layover it is great but if you are staying mor than one day get a hotel in city where you can walk to everything. They have a beautiful pool and the gym was very nice. The rooms are clean and beds a comfortable. They have a free airport shuttle but if you use it any other time they charge nice thing you can charge it to your room. They have free coffee and treats for there guests!! I would stay here again very nice
As a platinum member at Marriott and diamond at Hilton I stay at a lot of hotels between all the chains. My expectations are really high. This renaissance has all the makings of something great and then seem to stop. The lobby is very nice, the cleaning staff or very friendly and do a great job. The bell staff is a bit neglect. I had to go into the street two times during my stay to track down taxi as the bellman were busy visiting with other staff. The rooms are well appointed, but need some care and repair. I would stay again but not have such high expectations
The location is very special close to shopping & center to almost everything, but what makes this hotel special is its staff, they are unbelievable, specially Mereia, Teresa & Silvia, they did what ever they could to make my family & I comfortable & happy. Silvia is always there for us to help any way she could so is Teresa. I thank them so much for all the reservations, the fast check-in The upgrade , the information & the great services we received during our stay, We will be back.
