We stayed at the Olivia Plaza Hotel for our first wedding anniversary. Everything about our stay was exceptional. The hotel staff, including reception, those on the door and cleaners, were incredibly welcoming and friendly thoughout our time there, always making the effort to greet us and enquire about our day. We were also upgraded to an outstanding room, with a fantastic view of the square, We also returned to our room onTuesday and found a bottle of cava and a cake, with a lovely note congratulating us on our anniversary. These gestures were all delivered discreetly and really made our trip very special. It was without doubt the best hotel we have stayed in, and we would like to thank everyone for everthing ... it really does make such a difference. The location of the hotel is great, close to bus (including tourist buses) and metro to make getting around Barcelona easy. We had a great time.
Located at the top of La Rambla couldn't be better, discreetly next to the Hard Rock Cafe. The design is modern, in a slim 10 story building. Features bar and restaurant that are quite good. Staff and service is quite mixed, though. Check in was quick, but incomplete as no hotel services or details were covered. Our room, a suite on the 8th floor, got rudimentary daily service (no turn down and only intermittent refresh of amenities). Bar staff was excellent, however. A couple of strange design choices ...to turn off all the lights one hat to shut the main power off, the shower consistently flooded the bathroom floor, and frustratingly , the toilet paper roll holder was installed upside down so the roll consistently flew off when used. Our suite was a large two room design with connecting doors that worked well. Lack of artwork, though, made it quite sterile. The view was excellent, I must admit. As one of the Preferred Hotels, I was really disappointed, and I would not stay there again. If you get a screaming deal, give it a go. Otherwise, be forewarned.
The Olivia Plaza hotel is a must! Location is perfect. - right next to the Placa de Calalunya and Las Ramblas. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and really did go out of thier way to help. Breakfast was great, good coffee, nice mix of hot and cold breakfast - meats, cheese, yogurt, cereal, toast, bacon, scrambled eggs ect. Rooms very modern and comfortable with loverly views of the city.
The hotel is located in Piazza Catalunya, near the famous Ramblas Boulevard. The hotel has rooms facing the courtyard and rooms overlooking the Piazza. The rooms are large and spacious, and the view of the square is stunning. Despite the central location, the isolation of the windows is excellent, and from the room, you can not hear the commotion of the city. We arrived at the hotel around 10:00, and to our surprise, we not only received the keys to the room but also received an upgrade. The staff is very helpful, and friendly. In the room, they spoiled us with a bottle of cava. Breakfast is served in the hotel's lobby, on the entry level, and in the adjacent courtyard. The meal is very rich and includes a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, cereals, fruits and desserts. The restaurant also offers lunch, but we only ate breakfast. The bathroom and shower are separate, and they are closed with a sliding glass door, which we liked less. The hotel is central, and it is highly recommended.
Perfect location in combination with very nice staff, good breakfast and comfortable rooms made our stay super enjoyable. We got to the hotel early friday morning tired from long flight from Japan and expected to have to wait untill checking in around 3pm. But was instead greeted by the nicest and most splendid staff telling us they upgraded our room and we only had to wait 5 minutes to get it. We even got fresh juice and coffee for the wait. Room was very good and modern with very comfortable bed. The view from the 8th floor was great to arrive to and nice to wake up to in the morning. Breakfast was standard but very good and it was nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy it in the morning. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would love to come back again. Thanks for everything 😊
The location of the hotel is incredible. The staff are super nice and friendly. The room is great , location location location is the best close to all the shops, close to taxi station very close to airport 15 mins by car.highly recommended.
This was our first stop in Spain and it was perfect! The front desk staff were amazingly kind and welcoming. Our room was on the 8th floor and had the most amazing view of the plaza in front of the hotel. The room was huge, modern and had everything that we needed. We even came back after our first day out to chilled cava in our room! Such a pleasant surprise. The hotel is right next to the underground metro, which made travel incredibly easy, though we typically walked to most of the places that we wanted to see. Also, even though the room faced the plaza, it was very quiet in our room.
This hotel is in a great location, you are right in the centre of everything with las ramblas nearby. It is not a quiet location due to the proximity to the placa de catalunya but the hotel itself is quiet and not affected by the noise from outside. The rooms were fine, I wouldn't say 4* but clean and comfortable. They are a little tired around the edges. Having a safe in the room was great. No kettle in the room was strange, but this encouraged us to go out for coffee each morning so we explored more as a result of this. The area around the hotel is busy, very busy, all night long. In fact we left around 5.30am on our last day and the streets were still busy. The first night I felt uneasy because of the people selling items right at the front of the hotel, soon became used to it and ignored it. If I were to return to Barcelona I would consider staying here again, but wouldn't rule out elsewhere either.
Everything was so good, the room was so confortable, then we paid 19 euros for the breakfast that was really complete, they have a very nice terrace where you can have a coffee and all the personal who works there was so servicial and helpfull. The best part is that it has an amazing location!!!!!!
We stayed here in June for 5 nights in a Suite for less than $400au or 260 euro. What a great find, excellent staff, right on the Placa de Catalunya and 30 metres from the start of La Rambla. Everyhting is so convenient to this hotel, not forgetting opening the curtains in the morning to the Placa and the mountainous backdrop. Will definitely be back.
