A lovely 3 star hotel, it is unpretentious, clean and friendly. Just 500 metres from the main railway station and international coach station, it is a good base to explore the city. The room was clean and comfortable. The minibar was reasonably priced. Breakfast was a delight. We loved this value for money hotel and thoroughly recommend it. As for the stupid comments on some of the reviews. Such as the traffic noise. Get over it you are in a city. We actually thought it was very quiet.
We stayed there for five nights. First thought was that ok, this seems to be very average hotel. But the traffic was really bad so I couldn’t sleep. Also the room was clean but not really like taken care of. I gave 2 stars 🌟 for this place cause I’ve seen worse.
Have used this hotel a few times over the years and little has changed, it's the same as it was on our last visit and that was 2008. The rooms are clean and pleasant ours was at the front of the building and the traffic noise was not over powering. Breakfast is the usual buffet service and at the time of writing was served from 07.00 to 10.30. There is no evening meal service and the bar closes at 20.00. It is close to a taxi rank and apparently close to the bus and metro terminals. Las Ramblas is a twenty minute walk away or taxi ride.
This hotel can be summarised with one word: Average. Everything about this hotel was just average. The room was old fashioned, the furnitures were consumed. We booked double room and they gave us two single bed together. Staff were seemingly unhappy. It can be considered as "expensive" considering what they offer and how they offer. I don't know the breakfast because it was not included the hotel rate. Location is not central. 30 minutes walk to city centre. Overall it was not a terrible experience but I would not turn back.
Good quality for the good price. Clean rooms with all necessary things. Good location. Metro and buses are very close. Tasty breakfasts. A lot of restaurants and cafes are around. The wifi is not usability.
We came to Viladomat after staying there 10 days last august and this year we stayed another 10 days. When booked well in advance they offer a price that cant be beaten for the location and the standard of the hotel. The neighbourhood is nice, safe and friendly, with lots of cheap and good restaurants. Takes just 15 minutes by foot to Pl Universidad and we prefer not staying where all other tourists stay. Rooms are kind of standard and basic, but perfectly clean. The maids does a great job! Its silent and nothing can be Heard from the traffic and hallways. Staff at reception are very efficiant, although not very socialable. All in all, we really like this place and will be back!
We stayed here on a three day visit before departing for a cruise. The hotel is about a 15/20 min walk from Espanya square the main railway station and the exclusive shopping area. The hotel is quite basic air conditioned but clean our room was quite big the beds comfortable with a safe (you get the key from reception )and a quite modern clean bathroom replenished daily with soaps shower gels etc.We had the breakfast which we found more than adequate for our needs with a self service mix of english and continenral breakfast and hot and cold drinks. The staff were nice and polite with someone on the front desk at all times.Straight across the road is a small corner shop open most of the day with reasonably priced items and a small bakery 5 mins walk away for cakes breads etc.All in all a nice place to stay while you are busy sight seeing in the stunning city of Barcelona.
I wouldn't choose to stay here, but ended up there as on a budget for work. I actually wanted to stay in the hotel opposite! A bit miffed to arrive at reception and be served after people who arrived after me. Also, the receptionist had to find me a room then and there even though I had booked 4 months previous. OK, so annoying little things aside, the hotel's location isn't so bad. About 30+ minutes walk from La Rambla, bearing in mind I was walking slowly due to the heat. It's on a busy road, but it does quiet down considerably at night. Room was clean and secure. It has a mini bar, but no hot drink facilities. There is a mini-mart across the road a bit cheaper than relying on the mini bar. I had breakfast there twice, €11 per person. Food was fine, but did seem a bit pricey. It's a buffet though, so I suppose it depends how much you eat! The hotel could do with a return to modernise and look a bit more welcoming, but overall it was fine for my base for 5 nights.
The hotel is typical 3 stars, with a minibar and safe box. It is clean and the towels, cosmetics etc. changed daily. The hotel situated at the intersection of the streets: carrer de Viladomat, carrer de Valencia and carrer d’Arago – in a calm middle-class area. The noise from the construction work across the hotel front was felt just one morning for 6 days, spent at the hotel. The closest metro is at 350 m, called Roca fort, exit Cambria (the station has 2 exits). On one hand, the hotel is not far away from the downtown, boutiques and department stores, and tourist attractions. On the other hand, 1.5-2 km in the humid and hot Barcelona… Nevertheless, such a position beyond the tourist area has an advantage. You may eat better and cheaper. The very good seafood restaurant, called the Crown Marine, is located at the intersection of carrer d’Arago and carrer Rocafort (Esquina Carrer d'Arangó, Carrer de Rocafort, 130, 08015 Barcelona). Normally it is not cheap. But, the menu served from 1.30 pm to 4 pm is only euro 12. The dishes of the menu are changed every day, and they are all delicious. Because of the local clients, it is almost impossible to find a table up to 3 pm. Later it is quite possible. The trip from the airport to the hotel is possible by taxi, subway (metro) or express bus. The bus stop is 15 m off the exit from the main terminal of the airport (baggage claim of arrival area), on your right. The bus is called AEROBUS. The cost is euro 5.90. This express bus makes just 3 stops (placa Espanya, carrer del Comte d’Urguell, and placa de Catalunya). It takes 20 minutes from the airport to the city center. Our stop is Urguell (pronounced “urhel”). The Barcelona’s central bus station (if you wanna go, for example, to Tarragona or Valencia) can be reached by the direct subway line from your ‘hotel metro station’. Our room 603 was quite good, a corner one with views on Viladomat and Arago/Valencia streets. The grocery stores are El Corte Ingles, CONSUM, Mercadona, and DIA. All are close, not more than 500 m off. El Corte Ingles is little more expensive, but the best. There is no fan (exhauster) in the bathroom, the mirrors become misty over. However, that is a case in all Spanish hotels wherever we stayed.
I have nothing to compare with in Spain however if I judge this hotel in comparison to 3 star hotels in USA than it is very good hotel. Ladies at the reception desk were friendly to me and kindly provided any help I needed (printing tickets that I've ordered online or even helping order the tickets or some other stuff ). The rooms are clean and have most of the thing one need they supply toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo, bathgel, soap, disposable razor blades & shaving cream , comb shower cap and more. The breakfast is quite reach the hotel have restaurant inside with bar however I've never seen someone using it. The parking place at the hotel is very small (about 7 parking places only ! ). The parking is very narrow(quite hard to park), it cost extra and you need to specify that you will need it . However since the hotel located in the center there is a big parking place(and more expensive) available nearby, a lot of restaurants close to the place, supermarkets across the street , inside a room small frig available. So after I told you about my personal experience it is up to you to decide.
