Nothing to report, all excellent with the room, friendly and helpful staff and very clean hotel, good location near the beaches and the city and excellent breakfast with plenty of variety, we recommend.
We stayed here one night. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was also very good. The room was big and clean. We were able to walk to the train station that took us right into downtown Barcelona. For the price difference between this hotel and in the city the short train ride is worth the price.
This hotel is a 10 minutes walk from Molins de Rei station. It is conveniently located next to a supermarket which was great for buying snacks, water and anything you might have forgotten at home. We checked in late on our arrival as we had a late afternoon flight but were kindly informed by the reception about room service which delivered food to our room within an hour. The staff are friendly and greatly assisted any queries we had. The room was well kept and comfortable- en-suite bathroom was nice and clean with plenty of fresh towels. Our commute to Barcelona city centre was straight-forward and took around 20 minutes. There is a direct train from Molins de Rei to Pl. Catalunya which is great. This is a good affordable option if you do not mind commuting into the city centre on a daily basis. However, if you are someone who perhaps would like to stay out longer in the evening/night in the city centre of Barcelona, it may be worth staying somewhere more central. Getting a taxi back can be pricey due to the distance. Overall, it has been a lovely stay and would definitely be a comfortable stay for anyone visiting Barcelona for a short break.
Standard Holiday Inn Express. Staff pleasant, all striving to do a good job as far as customers were concerned but obvious friction between staff at breakfast which became a source of entertainment for us but, of course, wasn't professional and seemed to arise from understaffing with one staff member being expected to replenish foods in the very busy dining hall. Our children (10 & 11) became dissatisfied with breakfast offering and ate little after the third morning. Stayed for 5 nights August 2017. This was a great location with a large supermarket next door, easy and pleasant walk to train station and good spot for us to reach Girola, Montserrat etc as well as Barcelona City in our hire car. I recommend it for families, especially if you have a hire car although train station close by also. Parking is free.
We chose this hotel because we are members of the hotel loyalty group. Although further out of Barcelona than we anticipated it was within walking distance to the train into the city. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and all the reception staff spoke English which was great because we speak no Spanish. The rooms were adequate clean and tidy typical of a Holiday Express hotel. Breakfast was again typical of what we expect for a Continental breakfast. It was plentiful with a good selection of food. Whilst there are no restaurants close by there is a supermarket next door from which we were able to get food for our evening meal. Would stay there again
A nice clean, spacious hotel. Our welcome and check in were very good. You can get snacks in the hotel but there are cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance which reception pointed out on a local map.Our room was comfortable with air con, wifi and facilities for making tea and coffee. Breakfast was the usual buffet. On the downside there were a couple of small things that could have been improved upon. The bathroom was clean but the tiles were broken where the shower was attached to the wall. The carpet in our room was clean but had several large stained patches.
We stayed for 4 nights. We had previously read reviews that caused us concern. I stay away more than 50 nights a year mostly at Holiday Inn group hotels so basically know what to expect. Let me start with the good news. Staff are polite, helpful and very friendly. The lobby and check in are clean and efficiently managed. The room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet for 3 nights but a little noisy on the Friday night owing to a nearby night club. We overlooked a coach station and despite me being a light sleeper we were not disturbed by any other noises. The bad news. When you walk toward your room the carpets are not clean and the wallpaper looks dirty and hanging off in parts. Sadly we had a concerning incident after being out all day we returned to our room to find the door ajar with the lights on and 2 key cards in the slot for operating lights and accessing the rooms. I reported this and sent an email to the customer services manager. I didn't receive a response. At reception there was a mild apology and I was advised it was likely to be the cleaner who was responsible. I wasn't looking to get anyone into trouble but this is an unacceptable standard and one I have never experienced before in over 45 years of staying in hotels. Some feedback would have been appreciated. However, nothing was missing but that's not the point. You will need to show your card for breakfast. Other than toast it's only cold food. Not a great selection but you will get by. If you arrive at Barcelona airport you could get a taxi around 40€ or you could catch 2 trains for about 4.30€ each. The train is fast and you should reach a little over 1 hour. If you arrive at T2 you will need to exit the main terminal building and turn right. Enter the adjoining building and follow the signs upstairs. Walk across the walkway and down the other side and you are at the station. Buy a ticket for 2.15€ and catch the train R2 to Barcelona Sants. Alight the train and follow the signs for the next train which is the R4 to Molins de Rei. Buy another ticket for 2.15€ or at this point purchase 10 tickets which will save you money. Make sure it's for zones 1 and 2 as your hotel is in zone2. You can purchase a ticket at the airport station for the entire journey but we couldn't get through the barriers for our connecting train so I don't recommend it. You can catch the R1 also but these are less frequent. Once you arrive at Molins de Rei go under the subway to the main station building. Go through the building and exit to your left down 12 steps. Walk across a small square and follow the road on your right. A few minutes further down you will see a open park area on your right. Cross the road and keep the park on your right. You will see a supermarket and the next building you will see a blue H and 3 *** this is the Holiday Inn Express. The walk is around 15 mins and really the whole journey is not as complicated as it might sound. One tip. If you go out into Barcelona please note on your return some of the trains will show Hospital as a destination. Do not board these trains as you will only progress 2 stations and will need to change again. From Barcelona to Molins de Rei it's 6 stops in less than 30 mins.
Recently visited Barcelona and stayed for 3 nights. The staff is wonderful and really friendly, however I was not impressed by the quality of the room (stayed at room 325). The window opens on the side of busy expressway so there is constant traffic noise. The furniture desperately needs proper refurbishment, the head rest on the bed was loosed nailed, small table was wobbly and curtains were torn and dirty yellowish (I have pictures). The air conditioning was turned off centrally so I had open the window for fresh air but the traffic noise did allow us some much needed shuteye. Although, the hotel was about a KM from train station and one ride to Barcelona city center costs €2.50 and takes about 20 minutes. Breakfast is very simple and same everyday, I liked the Spanish Omelette, only form of egg served.
the rooms were clean with tea and coffee, breakfast was adequate but the coach station over the road was 24 hours of hustle and noise, no idea why anyone would build a hotel in the middle of an industrial area! Nowhere decent to eat nearby in the evenings so eat in the city before you return, Train service good and 20 mins into city centre with ten min walk from hotel.
We visited Barcelona to see them play PSG in the history-making 6-1 Champions League quarter-final win. The Holiday Inn Express west of the city centre at Molins De Rei is a budget hotel giving customers all they need for a city visit - except proximity to the city centre. If you want that, choose somewhere else and pay more. This place is a ten-minute walk from the overground station, which is about a 15-minute ride from the city centre at Sands - so not a huge distance. The rooms are big enough and comfortable enough. The breakfasts are simple continental affairs. The small bar area stays open till 1am. It's all very effective for a city visit.
