Stayed for the 2017 MotoGP. Couldn't fault the location ,10mins from bus station for travel to the track and the same for the Gothic quarter for all its bars and entertainment. Staff were helpful and their English understandable. Decent breakfast , good quality rooms with daily maid service.
We found this to be a lovely, friendly hotel in a good position in Barcelona - near shops and Catalunya Place where sightseeing buses and airport buses can be easily found. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and the room was very comfortable.
We just spent 4 great nights at this hotel. Very nice room and great breakfast every morning but next time will book a room with balcony. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a great location and is within walking distance from many attractions. The hotel has a small pool and sun deck but due to surrounding buildings the sun is gone in the afternoon. We would definitely come back to this hotel.
Four nights here. Not cheap. Super breakfast for 12Euros. Very nice and accommodating staff. When compared to the Claridge in Madrid, the Claridge is a much better value. The Grupotel 678 is not particularly well located. A good hike to the nearest Metro station. Even further to La Rambla. Lots of good eateries nearby. So, nothing to really complain about but I think better values can be found.
This is a great little hotel close to the main attractions and public transportation. The people at the front desk were very helpful in answering questions and getting cabs for us, even at 3 in the morning when we needed to catch an early flight. The room was very clean and comfortable. I will stay here again when I return to Barcelona.
Good hotel in great location, 5 mins walk from plaza catalunya and metro stations. Clean and comfortable, bathrobe, slippers and and shower accessories for a weekend break. Did not have breakfast as loads of good places to eat locally. Room not ready when we arrived, however they will keep your luggage safe for you. Glass of cava offered in arrival. If you want a reasonable priced hotel in a good area, I would recommend. I would return.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in February. The hotel is in a great location - just a few minutes walk from the Plaza de Catalunya - ideal for the metro and the Aerobus. On arrival in the evening, we were greeted with a glass of cava. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a well stocked mini bar, a coffee machine and a bathroom equipped with all the essentials (shampoo/conditioner, body lotion/soap etc - even spare toothbrushes and a disposable razor). Dressing gowns and slippers were also available for our use. Although the hotel does offer dinner (the menu looked quite restrictive), the only meals we had at the hotel was the breakfast. Breakfast included cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, meat, cheese, breads, cakes and an English style buffet - bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, potatoes. As lovers of the good old English breakfast, this wasn't the best but it was ok. Bacon was somewhat stringy and unappealing. The scrambled eggs were dry with green bits (spinach perhaps?). The (very small) pool wasn't open at this time of year, but the sun terrace/pool area looked welcoming. The hotel has a small lounge/bar which we used a couple of times. Wifi was free and a good strength. Would say this hotel is more of a 3 star than a 4 star, but still a great place to stay.
We have stayed in many different hotels throughout the world including several in Barcelona and this has to rate as one of the worst. The room was the size of a broom cupboard and the bed was the smallest double we have seen. The fixtures and fittings in the room were tired and worn, including loose light fittings ! No face flannels, no soap or shower gel. I nearly broke my neck slipping in the shower. Quilt was stained and ripped. Mat on floor slipped, probably due to the Lino, yes the hotel room had Lino! Whilst we were here building work was occurring, we went to reception to complain as we needed a sleep after long travel and staff just shrugged and said no one else had commented........not my problem. Breakfast cold and boring. We would not stay here again if it was free,,, and this is the first time in my 55 years I have felt the need to complain in this way.
Had a lovely stay at this hotel. 5 minutes’ walk from metro station, 15 minutes’ walk from Passeig de Gracia station. Hotel reception area was very bright and modern, staff very helpful. On check in a glass of cava was offered which was a nice touch. Rooms are comfortable. Some of our party had standard rooms but the superior rooms offer a little more space. The room we had overlooked the swimming pool which was lovely however you couldn’t really open the curtains to appreciate the view as the room backed on to flats and the residents of the flats could see straight in. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room however there was no milk and on phoning reception we were advised that if we wanted milk delivering to us it would be at our cost or we could pop downstairs and get some from the bar at no cost. Milk is not left in the rooms due to expiry dates, never had that before and we are all well travelled. We hadn't booked breakfast as part of our reservation however we did decide to have breakfast on our last day and to be honest for the cost (12 euro’s) it was not worth it. There wasn’t enough bacon, eggs, mushrooms, bread, plates, and dishes and there were only 2 staff on and they were rushed off their feet (albeit they did a great job). We had to ask for the staff to replenish all of the breakfast and even then it didn’t all come out in time. When the hot food came out of the kitchen it was cold. Would still recommend this hotel but just be mindful of the above. The hotel will store your bags for you which is always a bonus if you arrive early/leave late.
Good hotel but needs small improvements. Sofa at the reception area was ripped, which wasn't very nice considering it's a 4* hotel. Also bathroom needed a bit of modernising. Reception staff were excellent! We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and our room was upgraded to superior with no extra charge! We thought it was a perfect start to our few days in Barcelona. We also received good recommendations on the local restaurants and activities. Staff was very knowledgable and very helpful. Although our room was upgraded to a superior room, it was fairly small but nice with modern decor and it had all the essentials. The cleanliness I would score 8 out of 10 ( bathroom needed more attention and table mats at breakfast were sticky and in need of good clean!). We chose this hotel due to its location and we were not disappointed. Walking distance to main attractions (5-10 min walk to La Ramblas and 15-20 min walk to Sangrada Familia). Breakfast selection was good, lots of cold and hot food choices. Overall it's pretty standard hotel and we had a pleasant stay.
