Last week we stayed for a couple of days for holidays and we could relax after a non-stop visits to Barcelona museums and places. This hotel is perfect if you want to make a break at your staying in this city. We could enjoy its swimming pool which was perfect after a tired day! Staff was not only very helpful but also gave us advice where to go or what to visit. Room big and very comfortable specially its bed. Everything was clean and breakfast was very tasty. We recommend it!
No late check out even for an extra half an hour. Zero value for money. Bad location. Inefficient staff which was not helpful. Very poor overall. I would definitely not visit the hotel or its chains in the future.
Stayed for two nights with the family. Hotel is super clean and very comfortable. Its well located with buses and taxis easily accessible Valiable. The metro is about 15 mins away. Happy to recommend.
Wonderful staff who couldn't be more helpful. Hotel is very clean and close to good restaurants and underground railway. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Barcelona. Breakfast was excellent from cereals to a cooked breakfast.
Great. I liked particularly the breakfast which had loads of choice and was good value at 11 Euros which really set me up for the day. It felt boutique-style, friendly and personal as it was relatively small scale. The location suited us - we walked from there across the city or we took the tube. It took about an hour relaxed walk through to Sagrada Familia and we walked to Las Ramblas too in 45 mins discovering the city on route. The tube was very handy too. There are some restaurants locally or if you walk to La Rambla de Catalunya there are many there.
From arrival to departure, we couldn't of asked more from our hotel and the superb team of staff. Our room was lovely and spacious, hard floors, great decor and a pleasant view of the pool area. The staff were more than accommodating, super friendly and always happy to help with our requests and questions. Barcelona was magic and our hotel was the little gem in the middle.
So the room looked great on arrival, and importantly the bed was comfortable so we slept well. Sadly overall the room we had 343 was quite worth the value for money we expected... the Gran Derby Suites has great potential for the following reasons: 1. It's in the Small Luxury Hotels of the a World list 2. The rooms look plush, unusually decorated and spectacular on arrival 3. The staff are kind, courteous and helpful 4. There are unique works of art everywhere 5. The lobby looks and smells great 6. There's a outdoor pool terrace Reasons it's not quite right yet, could do with a bit of investment: 1. The room air conditioning wasn't working 100% 2. The glass panel for the bathroom is a nice touch to have a shower and see the sunlight outside BUT the privacy blind on the outside of the bathroom looks a little old and would be better served inside the bathroom 3. The sliding glass door to the toilet cubicle hadn't been replaced, not a massive issue as you can still be private in the bathroom but not ideal for a €200 per night room 4. Breakfast (currently discounted to €11 pp per day) isn't worth the full price, the cold buffet is nice but in a tiny room and the staff don't have enough space in the kitchen area really, hot breakfast comes from a different kitchen (perhaps across the road at the Hotel Gran Derby?) and so isn't always hot, the staff can't quickly correct errors and there is not much of it when it comes TIP: you're better off having a snack at breakfast and going across the road to the Times Coffee shop (also part of the Gran Derby group) and having their frankly amazing 3 course set lunch menu for €12.50 including drinks and coffee, simply superb and the staff can't do enough for you!! 5. Outdoor pool terrace area could be gorgeous if the sun loungers had cushions, towels were supplied and the space was better used. Plus as it's in the middle of a suburban area with apartments all around, so a bit more privacy might be nice Don't get me wrong we had a lovely visit but for almost £1000 for 5 nights it could turn up the quality just a notch.
We have just returned from a four night break for my husband's 50th birthday. We had a smashing time and would go to this hotel again. Beware though if you get a 'junior suite' on the sixth floor. These rooms are not representative of the other lovely suites. Very small and not well set out. However, after speaking with the wonderful front of house staff we were moved the next day to a perfect suite, very jazzy and spacious. All of the sight seeing was incredible and open to view on the bank holidays. The hotel was a good 1hr walk away from the sights but the roads are flat and peppered with cafes for a quick refreshment break. Beware if you are a shopaholic. The shops are closed good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday. The guys on the front desk are a credit to this hotel.
I came to the hotel to enjoy my birthday with my partner. What a great experience I had! The facilities were excellent, although I found it a little odd that there wasn't a kettle in the suite, but then again they more than made up for that with the huge tub and shower in the room. The staff were excellent, in particular Xavi Carlos and Xavi Roberto who went out of their way to ensure I had a great time as well as help me practice my Spanish. On my birthday itself I left the Hotel for a day out and Xavi rushed out to stop me on the street to wish me a happy birthday. I then came to my room to find a lovely bottle of Cava on ice waiting for me. This is what I call service, they have guaranteed a return guest by way of their attentive and helpful service. The two Xavi's are for sure a credit to the hotel and will win them plenty of business I have no doubt with their general approach. I will for sure be back and I recommend highly anyone who wants a great stay in a well located setting with top staff then look no further.
We have just returned from a three night stay and had a wonderful time. It was our first visit to barcelona and the staff on reception were very helpful with advice on where to go. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We were with our two teenage boys so of course the Camp Nou tour was a must which isn't too far to walk to from the hotel. The tour bus stop is nearby too which was excellent and ran very regular. Would definitely stay here again.
