Our first stay in Barcelona & at this aparthotel. Excellent location close to Metro & beach. Apartment was clean , comfortable & really benefits from a fridge freezer, dishwasher & washing machine. We were there for 11 nights so these made a real difference to the comfort of our stay. The staff were all very pleasant & helpful. We loved the rooftop pool which was perfect size & depth for kids. Would stay again.
Worse place I've ever stayed... we didn't get our deposit back like everyone else but for something so minor like playing music at the pool. We was told to turn it off which we did straight away. There had been other people playing music and drinking so we thought it was ok. We didn't do it after that and we still had our deposit taken!!! They tried to kick us out of the apartment at 2am (a group of young girls) the way we were treated is disgusting. There are soooo many other people with similar issues and they never got their deposit. This is just a scam because no-one ever gets the deposit back. I wouldn't recommend this to my worse enemy
We had booked two similar rooms for two families, one received room 1.1 and the other room 11, unfortunately, bot were totally opposite to one another, while room No. 11 was clearly the better one. When we seen the room and asked the person at the reception to change the room, she kept saying, " Did'nt you see the room before you booked it ?" Of course we did, it was room no. 1.1 that we seen and expected to get that or similar. Anyways, to cut a long story short, getting this kind of attitude gave us the image of the hotel. To add to it, they blocked our card for 250 Euros, till we checked out. Location of the hotel also was not great, the place was kind of deserted.
Perfect for family stay - especially if you choose a large apartment. Clean room, comfy beds and nice roof top pool. Only 2-3 Metro stops from the city center/Rambla and close to grossery shopping (Lidl)
A large stylish apartment, with a lot of space. Location is good if you are happy to walk, or taxi to the main attractions. Beach is approx 15 minutes walk, well worth the effort. The magnetic entry 'keys' malfunctioned many times, needs to be sorted. Overall, a great base for a holiday.
This is really nearly a 5. Really good place and I'd happliy stay there again. Travelling to Barcelona for 4 nights with 2 kids (4/7). Booked directly via booking.com for about £135 a night. This included the 'cleaning fee' and we were aware that there is a city tax on all hotels in Barca that you pay at the hotel (it's about £1.25 per adult per night). Very helpful and nice reception (we were a bit worried after reviews saying other locations for key pick up etc), it's a proper reception with a secure entrance. She was there from 10.30 till about 6, with a security guard on reception outside these times to buzz you in if you lose card. Room wasn't ready, when we arrived at 10.30 but we dumped our bags in the cellar room (the lift can be key activated to go down to a secure area with very nice toilets/sofas etc where we left our bags also on our last day at 11am checkout and came back at 6pm to pick up and change for our flight home. Room was really unusual - has a converted warehouse feel - I assume they were designed to be two floors and then had the middle floor taken out, so really light and airy and a very cool feel. Brick walls and very modern. Kids had a great pull out sofa bed (reading other reviews I expected a dodgy one but this was brand new). Whole place was great and massive fridge which we mostly used for cooling beers and wine! Why only 4/5? Just lacked a tiny bit of being either a hotel, or an appartment... so seemed to lack something from either. It's like a diy Hotel really.... there is about 20 rooms I think. Pool was also v cold (but I liked sunbathing on the roof with a beer).... the pool area was actually waaay better than it looks on the pics or than I expected, but for a small pool I don't think the heating would cost much and would make it loads more fun. If it was a tiny bit cheaper, or a bit more quirky I'd have given a 5. TOP TIPS: Tube is nearby and a '10 ticket' pass can be used by a group for 9.95 a trip. So we could go into the centre and back for 4 euros for all of us (kids were free). Very easy to get about. Easy walk to Beach. 6 euro taxi from Olympic port - bit pricey when Metro would have been 2... but less hassle. McDonalds right on the path to the beach - consider a detour if you're trying to get kids to eat local. SHOPS: there are a few 'corner shop' style shops nearby - in all directions really. Seem overpriced but the larger one (left out of door, first right and 100 yrs). Was 1.50 for a bottle of white wine. It was about 4 euros for six pack of San Miguel. Crikey the wine is cheap compared with everything else. NOMAD: Coffee shop opposite. Great coffee but wasn't open before 9, sometimes 10am. SAFETY: I'd heard loads of reports of crime on the Ramblas and felt a bit uneasy before - no need. Was a very safe city, and we walked all the way around the appartment and locally as well as the centre. No problem at all. Never felt unsafe, saw no crime. STREET SELLERS: You get some of the knock off merchants selling gear - we bougth some football kits for the kids for 15 Euros each - possibly overpaid a bit but they are actually good quality. Likewise Sarong sellers on the beach - 7 euros for a large one that was really handy for picnics in the park... CABLE CARS: There are two! They are different! The Red one going over the port is not that good and only takes you to the start of the top of the hill.... you then need to walk up a fair way to 2nd cable car that is 7 euros for a single to the top of the hill. This one is silver and smaller (we had the car to ourseilves) and much more fun for the kids as you feel like you are flying. Drops off near the castle at the top, and we walked back down. If I did it again I'd take the Funicular to the 2nd cable car (again can use the metro ticket for 1 euro), then I'd take the 2nd car up to top and back.... Hope that helps - Enjoy Barcelona!
Was staying at La Republica Apartments as a group of 7 split over two rooms. These rooms were advertised for larger groups and looked ideal for a party of our size. Upon arrival we were told that we needed to pay an extra €300+ city tax on top of our booking fee. After questioning this a few times without any joy, the manager was then called over who said it was a mistake. Seemed like an easy way to make huge profit on some unsure tourists. We were then told that the rooms weren't ready and that one of the rooms needed the sofa bed changing as it was broken. After 5 hours of waiting in a local bar and asking for updates the sofa was then changed. Later that night we found the replacement also to be broken and very uncomfortable! Rooms were extremely small and could just hold three at a push. Bathrooms were nice and the wardrobes had plenty of storage space. Kitchen area had everything you need for a self catering stay. Roof top pool was freezing cold and the area was completely shaded. It did however have some good views of some of the city. The main positive for us was the location. Very close to the tube station which was only 2 / 3 stops away from the beach, ports and city centre. Unfortunately not a great stay and I wouldn't recommend.
Quiet neighborhood, close to metro, near coffee shops, local bar and convenience store that closes late. Apt has modern design. Good value. Will stay here again. Very friendly staff, ready to help with directions and stuff for the apt.
This apartment is not in a great part of town. However it is very accessible to Metro. I will suggest you always walk in groups at night. One of the televisions did not work but we did not care since we don't understand Catalan anyways. The reason for my below average rating is that there is limited hot water. We are a family of 4. After one person showers, it is only cold shower for the rest of us. Another thing they ask is you take out the trash yourself at the end of your stay. I don't think that should be necessary since they have to clean the apartment anyways. Will I stay here again ? I doubt it. A hot shower after a very long day of walking is my heart's desire.
I am just back from a Hen Party in Barcelona! La Republica Apartments are the ideal place to stay! Marta on the reception desk was brilliant! She helped us locate our different activities and book our taxis. The apartments are self-catering but have everything you need! And the balcony overlooking the common area is an added bonus on a sunny day! The rooftop pool was beautiful, we only wish the weather had been kinder to us so we could have used it more. I would highly recommend these apartments for anyone looking to stay not in the city but not too far away! Only 15 mins walk to the city and 15mins from the beach! Just brilliant!!
