Found this hotel very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Want to make special mention of Serge who was at the front desk. He could not have been more helpful, not only with maps, but also getting photos of places of interest up on the computer! Great stay and can recommend Annette & Peter
For the one who prefer to walk around this hotel is a favourable spot. 8 minute walk to The Popular Rambla. Room was spacious for three, always clean, they replace the basic toiletries everyday, breakfast was fresh with variety of choices, variety of pubs available outside the hotel and staff were polite and helpful. Generally it's clean everywhere. Hola! 👌
Myself my husband and my 9 year old son stayed here for 4 nights. It's a really comfy bed. Clean rooms and very helpful and friendly staff on reception. The breakfast is a nice continental breakfast and their is plenty to choose from. The staff were very knowledgeable and advised me regarding booking trips etc to Barcelona FC and how to get there.
Booked this hotel having previously stayed in the sister hotel in Berlin but was disappointed. Firstly the plus points: Location to the Ramblas which is only a five/ten mins walk (but see negatives) Staff were polite, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good with a fair choice Room was clean and bathroom had decent selection of toiletries, including teeth cleaning , perfect if on a short break to avoid taking them in your hand luggage Negatives: Location is clearly the red light district and there was evidence of this in the evening. I am not precious about such things but it is not really what you want to be experiencing as part of a family holiday. I have seen the area described as 'full of character' but I wouldn't agree with that, it just feels grubby. The choice of decent places to eat was limited. The room although clean was small and dated and had no drink making facilities. There was no restaurant or bar in the restaurant which given the lack of decent local choice would have been good. In summary, nothing really wrong as such with the hotel itself but I have stopped in much better in this class of hotel, including in Barcelona and would not stop in this particular area again.
Stayed here for two nights , good location , quiet with walking distance to La Rambla. Clean rooms , courteous and helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast all at a competeive price. Well worth a visit for a convenient stay to explore Barcelona.
Stayed at the Abba Rambla for three nights, recommended by Thomas Cook. Not disappointed, great location just 10 mins walk from La Rambla and set in its own courtyard style street "Rambla Del Raval". Arrived at 10:00 due to an early flight from Birmingham but a room was available even though check in not until 14:00. Room was great, very clean, usual shampoo, shower gel etc in bathroom. Hairdryer also in bathroom but quite an antique! No kettle in room. Breakfast was adequate, the usual continental with a small section of scrambled egg & bacon too. For a three star we thought it was great, and if we were to return we would definitely stay there again.
The room was clean and spacious ( although, the safety deposit box was not working , we were just too tired and pressed for time to worry about it). The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located , about 5- 10 minute walk to Las Ramblas/metro , at the end of Carrer de l'Hospital , by a little square. The street, Carrer de l'Hospital , looks dark and scary but after walking through a couple of times, we convinced ourselves that there were plenty of help , if needed: workers, other locals, some tourists and even a hospital.
A hotel can't depend solely on it's location. It's proximity to La Rambla the popular tourist street in central Barcelona is it's only claim to fame. But the hotel itself is just average. When we checked in, all the air conditioners (in all rooms) were not working. We tried 3 different rooms (each time we had to lug our 8 bags..we were 4 of us by ourselves..no help from anyone from the hotel) but to our dismay, the air-cons in every room weren't working. The hotel staff said that since it's a Sunday, they wouldn't be able to do anything about it and we'd have to wait till the next day. The bathrooms were run down and the fixtures weren't in good condition. There were some good roadside restaurants nearby where we could get a bite to eat and La Rambla street as well as the metro and bus stations were a good 15 minutes walk from here.
beds are fine, the place is clean, breakfast ok, very good for 3 stars. go to rambla and metro through Hospital street (which is not so nice) no kettle in the room, but there is hot water in the lobby. free WIFI, and good reception.
Just returned from a 6 night stay and cannot fault the hotel. Immaculate hotel with friendly staff. Rooms spacious and kept extremely clean. Continental buffet has great choice. The location is excellent within easy walk of las ramblas. Some would say it's not the best area but we felt safe walking about. If we were to return to Barcelona would definitely stay here.
