This is a beautiful boutique hotel situated in Tibidabo at the end of one of the Metro lines. Although looking tired in places (chipped paint, etc), the room was spacious and very comfortable with a large bathroom with whirlpool bath and separate shower. The hotel has just 15 rooms which is both a strength and a weakness. On the down side, when ringing for room service, it could take several minutes for the ‘phone to be answered. At breakfast, there was only ever one member of staff on duty. Coping with one or two tables was no problem but, when other guests arrived, the level of service decreased and it took a long time to be served. Surely it should be possible for a hotel of this quality to provide additional members of staff when required. Although this is, in so many ways, a wonderful hotel, we’ll probably look to stay elsewhere next time we’re in Barcelona.
The ABaC Hotel is a wonderfully intimate and luxurious boutique hotel. We booked the penthouse and absolutely love the coziness and decor of the room. The beautiful deck isn't the most useful during winter but the private jacuzzi is lovely and a wonderful way to wind down after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are advertised as soundproof and that's mostly true. You don't hear the traffic or noise from the streets but occasionally sounds from the elevator and downstairs can be heard (though to note, I'm supersensitive to sound). The service at ABaC is mostly to notch. Irene, who checked us in and helped us ought train tickets and find local sights to see was particularly helpful. However, another front desk person told us it was impossible to get train tickets without going to the station first and seemed completely uninterested in helping us (thank you Irene for making things easy!) The restaurant, which was just awarded its third Michelin star, is a MUST if you're here. It is an experience from beginning to end and worth every penny. While its not within walking distance of most tourist attractions, ABaC is right across the street from the very convenient and easy to use subway which is only a 10 minute ride to the main square. If you're looking for a quiet hotel a bit off the beaten path, this is it!
ABac was the last stop on our multi city tour of Spain. We wanted to relax and get ready for an early flight back to the states. When we arrived to the Hotel it is more of a coumpound in the city. It is very much a boutique hotel behind a large gate. We were buzzed in and in awe as we walked through the courtyard. As you walk through you can tell that time and attention is paid the the exterior of the hotel with well manicured plants and shrubbery. We entered the lobby and were checked in and shown to our room, we booked the Deluxe Suite. The room (and hotel) is very modern in design, the room was pristine with a chase lounge and oversized bed that was incredibly comfortable. Mood lighting illumates tge room as you enter and the minibar is full of delicious snacks. Although this hotel is out of the city center it is close to the theme park and other things to do. We ventured in the city and found great food and beverages and were ready to retire for the evening. The room has an amazing shower with privacy glass so you can see in the room as you shower but if anyone is in the room they can’t see you. With a great waterfall shower and great smelling shower gels. Once we cozied into the comfortable bed we turned on the large Samsung 4K curved tv (I remember this because I wanted one) we were pleasantly surprised to find that Netflix was available. We watched a great movie and relaxed, also the rooms are soundproof which is great because you can turn up the volume and not worry. We woke up enjoyed coffee from the nespresso, packed and were ready to go. We didn’t have much contact with the staff, but what when we did they were all polite and very courteous. I would definitely return to the 5+ star hotel, next time longer!
ABaC hotel is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Barcelona. The perfect distance from the thick of things, just a short metro ride to whatever you want, located in a quiet neighborhood setting. Walking distance to excellent restaurants and shopping. very comfortable beds, excellent shower with rainfall shower head. Michelin restaurant located on premises. Right next door to a nice outside space. A short ride to the airport. i cant think of a single negative. It's all good.
Located in the north part of Barcelona, this isn't a luxury hotel with very attentive staff. Rooms clean and is located in a quieter part of Barcelona. The tour bus stops right outside the hotel, metro is easy too. Spa is amazing. Las ramblas is about 45 minutes walk. Ideal hotel and would recommend highly.
what an amazing hotel. staff is absolutely superb, go out of their way to help you. room are splendid, well worth your money. location is great as it is near to a metro station and Barcelona has a good network of metro,so you visit the city cheap and fast. restaurant there is just superb, outstanding. stay there if you can afford it. amazing.
We were met after our cruise and taken to the hotel where upon arriving were met by the receptionist where the check in was prompt, efficient and very helpful. Our room was exceptional as were the spa facilities. Breakfast was delicious. This really is an exceptional member of the SLH, to date our favourite I honestly don't think there is any area that could be improved on. Keep up the excellent work look forward to seeing you again.
Rooms are excellent. Staff go out of their way to help. The restaurant is an experience. The food was nice and the wine outstanding. Lots of money to spend on one meal, but as I said it's an experience.
My wife and I have been fortunate to travel extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. and our experience at ABaC restaurant was one of the best that we have had anywhere---a truly memorable experience. Even before we got there, whenever we mentioned the restaurant to anyone working in our hotel (The Arts), there was an automatic smile and raised eyebrows because they knew the experience we were about to have. One is initially greeted at the door in this very cool, very chic hotel/restaurant and brought by elevator to the restaurant level. One is then brought to an outdoor comfortable table where you are offered drinks and then brought the menu and absolutely huge wine list to make your choices. This takes about 15-20 minutes of total relaxation. Then you are brought into the kitchen where your guide presents the various areas of where the various dishes will be prepared. Then while in the kitchen two different bites of starters are given to you. You are also given the opportunity to have your picture taken with Chef Jordi who is now regarded as one of the best chefs in the World. You are then led to your beautiful table in a beautifully designed modern dining area. One then is pampered with the next 12-16 courses of foods depending whether you chose the 14 or 18 course selection. That was the initial meal choice one had to make when you were initially brought into the restaurant. Although there are many courses, the portion sizes are just right so that one is not "stuffed" by the end of the meal. I'm a wine lover and their selection was outstanding. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and helpful as you would expect. We had a delicious 2006 Alion from Ribera Del Duero. Of course, this is one of those rare experiences that caries with it a rarified cost. But it is absolutely worth every penny. You will need to make a reservation directly with the restaurant, not through a concierge and you will need to make your reservation well in advance, preferably 2 months in advance. This is a unique dining experience and one of the best that you can have anywhere in the World. This is not listed as Trip Adviser's number one recommendation but that has to be because of the cost. BUT THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE RESTAURANT IN BARCELONA.
The only hotel we will ever stay at in Barcelona, and they did it again! Awesome stay at a top hotel. Second time in Barcelona, second time we stayed here, first time was 2 years ago. The place is just as good as before with some improvements. Staying here is like being at home, it is our home away from home. The TV and sound system I think was a improvement from last time, its really nice! Wi-fi is fast as well. Last time we had breakfast included in the stay, this time we didn't, but only cuz we didn't book the hotel far enough in advance where it was a reasonable cost for us, so we skipped it this time, we booked this in Canadian dollars, so it gets expensive. The rooms are worth the price, the room is amazing! 2 years ago we got the room at a really good price, so got the breakfast included, and it was amazing and I highly recommend the breakfast here as it is better than anything we found in Barcelona. We wanted to order room service for dinner, but we didn't get to it because we ate at our favorite restaurant everyday in Barcelona :). But we heard amazing stuff about the restaurant food! Tips for travel: So close to the metro (L7) which goes straight to Placa de Catalunya. Perfect and metro is cheap when you get the T-10 metro card (can be shared). The location is perfect, anywhere in Barcelona you need to metro it anyways, so this is at least one straight line to the main city center. Fast and easy, we would go back and fourth 2 times a day.
