Great location wonderful staff beach is right at my finger tips close to some of the finest restaurants and close to grocery stores one can't go wrong with staying here at blue orchid hotel rooms are really breathe taking and ill be looking to stay here again pretty soon.
Hotel for the price is excellent. The rooms are clean and all of them come with a view of the Caribbean sea. Myself, girlfriend and daughter stayed in a deluxe studio. You get two big beds pushed together which would of give us more than enough room for the 3 of us to sleep on. A extra bed was provided for my daughter and even with this in the room we had plenty of space. The kitchen as all you will need, ( Cooker, fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, ETC.) The bathroom is small but as both shower and bath. Their is loads of wardrobe space and draws. Now the rooms are a little dated but you should not mind that too much. All staff were very pleasant. The hotel as a small swimming pool and a lovely beach, sun loungers are provided and towels. There is a small restaurant and bar, (We did not use.)As there is plenty near to the hotel. Overall as I said for the price i can't see why anyone would be disappointed. And we would like to thank everyone for making us welcome.
Enjoyed our stay at the blue orchids. Handy being close to the airport. The room was just what we needed although a little cramped for 3 beds it did the job. We saved extra money by being able to prepare our own breakfast and some sandwiches at lunch and rum punches in the evening :) There is a fridge/freezer, cooker (which we didn't use) and a microwave. I took washing up liquid having read an earlier review although the cleaners do wash up for you but we preferred to do it. Everything you need close by. Safe area. Towels replaced when you need in the room and new beach towels available every day. There is a tri mart supermarket 5 mins walk along the road to the right or a smaller supermarket at the quayside shopping centre less than 5 mins to the left along the main Rd. Supermarkets v expensive but cheaper than eating out. Recommend just grillin for simple quick meal, LOVED bar cutters which is a good truck that is in the rockley beach car park Thursday - Sunday try the pulled pork cheese fries! Also loved doubles d'lish for a bargain lunch at the quayside centre which is directly behind just grillin. Bargain local rotis called doubles and bake saltfish (like a roll) Would definitely go back!
Great accommodation and beach at Worthing. Ideal for a base to experience the rest of the island and allow holiday makers to experience more of the bajan culture than they would at other larger resort hotels. Special mentions go to Suzanne and Chantelle on reception Chanel at Coral Mist, Stephen the resident taxi driver, Reggie who is great at advising on trips and tours on the island, Paul and the wonderful security guards. We would have no hesitation in recommending Blue Orchids. Good luck with your renovations this year and we hope to visit you again in the future!
It had almost 1/2 mile of fairly nice beach. The far end can be hard to walk except at low tide. Blue Orchid is at the best end of the beach for water access, as the middle has a rocky ledge to get over. A 2 min walk up the street gets you to another beach which is really a bunch of smaller beaches connected by a boardwalk. Although much of the boardwalk is buried in sand so it's not as easy of a walk as it sounds. Our favorite restaurant, Tiki was on this beach. We liked it for the atmosphere being right on the beach and swimsuit friendly, more so than the food. But the food we had was good. There are also several other dining options within a few minutes’ walk of the hotel. Ground floor room in back was nice. It had plenty of room, with a kitchen. I could see rooms closer to the road getting traffic noise. All we had was frog noise. I find a bunch of frogs relaxing, but 1 frog outside the bathroom window can be a little annoying. But you forget it’s there pretty quick. Parking is limited at the hotel. I always found a spot, but not by much. A small car helped. Given it's off season, I'm guessing it would be even harder at peak occupancy. The same goes for the beach and pool chairs. Most days there was at least one chair available at any time, but would be tight with a full hotel. The chair/umbrella guy was good. A second hotel, Coral Mist shares the beach chairs and parking. Although both hotels have a pool and separate reception desk, which is odd in that the architecture and buildings look to be the same. The restaurant is in Coral Mist, but the game room is in Blue Orchid. I did not get around to finding the exercise room. Dining was busy at breakfast, less so at lunch, and we rarely saw people eating in the evening. They did have a bar also. The beach at Carlisle bay was the nicest to walk on. It was about 1.5 miles long, as long as you can duck under the pier at Ramada. The public beach is very popular with the locals at dawn they came in fairly large numbers to swim and walk the beach.
Stayed for a few days this month. The location was ideal for food, groceries, transportation options and beach. The waves were rough everyday I was there. You can hear the waves all day and night front the room which is soothing to me. I enjoyed having breakfast on the private balcony. On my last day, there was a turtle swimming directly in front of my room for hours. The hotel was small and easy to get around not like big resorts. I saw security walking around the property all the time which made me feel safe. Staff is friendly enough when approached but don't bother you otherwise. We had a studio apartment which was a decent size for two of us. We only used the kitchen for the microwave and refrigerator. It looked kind of old and dingy. They provided limited pots and cooking utensils. They did not provide napkins or dish soap which was kind of annoying cause we didn't have time to go to the store as soon as we got there to buy some. Our room lacked hand towel racks which was kind of inconvenient. The restroom was somewhat small and dingy. The parking lot is small. If you can get past some minor imperfections, you'll like it here. There's a pool, a game room and the adjoining hotel has a restaurant and exercise room that is available to us too.
Spent a wonderful 2 weeks here in early April. Great location on the beach, 2 pools and within walking distance of supermarkets and other shops. Self catering studio apartment had everything you need, lovely view of the sea from the balcony. Rooms are serviced every day and beach towels are provided free of charge. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. The restaurant could get a little busy at times but the waitresses were always polite and friendly. We took a taxi tour of the island to see the east coast, Bathsheba beach is stunning. The Boatyard is a short taxi ride away with turtle boat tours and other attractions. Managers cocktail event is a nice touch with Bajan nibbles and music, would like to see it last a little longer than 2 hours. Had a lovely holiday with family and definitely will be visiting again.
My wife and i have just spent 3 weeks at this hotel/appartments and cannot find fault on the beach yes close to things to do yes bar across road yes supermarket down the side of said bar st lawrence within walking distance yes We were told that blue orchid and coral mist will be closing for 2 months in october (ish) for a total refurbishment still roll on next year already saving our milk money
We stayed at Blue Orchid for two weeks over the Easter holidays, having previously stayed in the sister hotel, Coral Mist 11 years ago. We had a 1 bedroom apartment for us and our 10 year old daughter. The apartment was spacious and benefitted from a large corner balcony overlooking the bay. The beach location has to be the best spot on the south coast! Worthing is quieter than St. Lawrence Gap (1 mile away) and also a short stroll to Rockley. The apartments are fairly basic but very well equipped, cleaned to a good standard and have a good kitchen area. We found this useful for making breakfast and lunch but we ate out in the evenings. The grounds and pool are spotless and well maintained and the beach is stunning! There's loads of great bars and restaurants within a short stroll - Berts Sports Bar, The Tiki Bar and Mojos are all well worth a visit for great value food. In Rockley (5-10 mins walk) there's a small shopping mall with a small supermarket, food outlets and other shops. The Italian Coffee stall, ice cream shop and smoothie bar are lol amazing! Highly recommend Blue Orchid or Coral Mist as a good value base for exploring Barbados. Reggie - the entertainment manager is great at booking excursions and offering advice on places to visit. We did the Slammin' catamaran cruise and Island Safari. Both excellent days out! Bridgetown is a 15 minute bus ride away and there's a bus stop right by the hotel. 2 Bajan dollars each way makes it great value too. Rooms are right on the beach, so expect to be sent to sleep listening to the waves!
I am staying at the Blue Orchids Beach Hotel at the moment it's a 3star hotel but it's a nice clean hotel. It's right on the beach and it has a pool, restaurant and a bar which needs updating but it's functional they do room service which I used quite a lot. There is 4 blocks but only 2 lifts in 2 blocks so be prepared to carry your luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs in the other blocks. It's right on the main road, shops, bars and 1 or 2 restaurants are 5-10 minutes away. If you want to explore the island then hire a car or a local taxi for the day, You can catch a government bus or ZR buses to Bridgetown for $2 Barbados dollars which is very cheap. If you have a kitchen then I recommend you use it because the restaurants are expensive in Barbados so just go to your local supermarket which if you turn right on the road it's 5 minutes on the left hand side, the sea at Blue Orchids is very choppy but if you turn left you will find Rockley beach which is lovely and calm. If you turn right out of the hotel for 5-8 minutes then you will find Worthing beach which is okay. I love Barbados it's very safe and there's lots to do. On a final note don't buy your currency in the U.K. you will get a terrible rate, you can change some pounds at the airport after you collect your luggage you will get a good rate then change some more in the local banks. They need your pounds more than British banks, well have a great time in Barbados you will love it.
