The Samaya has a 5-star service: the private villa was great with a very large pool (although the water was slightly too fresh), great in-villa service with amazing food, great breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. Only weak point was that the villa was located in a back alley a bit further within the city but that was still fine as quite close from the hotel itself and the beach.
We stayed at The Samaya for 3 nights at the start of our trip through Bali. The hotel has a beautiful and elegant layout and the grounds are very well kept. The location is one of the best in Seminyak. We stayed in a Poolvilla next to the Sea and the pool, we would recommend this area of the hotel. The sun-loungers are very comfortable and the beach service is good. We loved the afternoon tea at the beach. It is very nice to stay there and watch the surfers and kites. You can also take long walks along the beach. Our poolvilla was very nice, spacious and clean. We especially loved the Lucaffé-coffeemaker, the best coffee ever! the bathroom is enormous and the products (showergel, conditioner etc.) of high quality. the bed was very comfy and the aircon worked well. you can turn on the aircon in the living room and get fresh air in the bedroom. the pool of the villa was quite big and nice to have a swim. the outdoor lounge was also nice, but the covers of the furniture were not very clean, this was not at the standard of the hotel. roomservice and housekeeping were immaculate. the breakfast at The Breeze was good quality and tasty. But - and this was the only fall down: the dinner at The Breeze was far from what we expected: Service was uncoordinated and unprofessional, the food was average. the salads were not on the level of an excellent restaurant. the nasi campur would be better in many warungs. but the beef bourguignon was minimal - the beef was good quality, but it was served with (no joke) 4 gnocchi! my husband is italian and he couldn't believe what appeared on his plate. he asked for more gnocchi, but then he had to order the same plate again and at the end we payed over 1 mio. IDR without desert or wine. in a restaurant of this price level, we would expect the service to bring some additional gnocchi if requested. this dinner was definitely not worth the price, so after that we preferred to have the dinner elsewhere.
I spent ten days spread between the Samaya Seminyak and the Samaya Ubud for my 50th In June this year. In short - best holiday ever, thanks to ALL the staff at both resorts for making this so special for my wife and I. Special mention to the manager and the Team in Seminyak, incredible service, wonderful people and just beautiful. The accommodation is fantastic - cleaned twice a day by an army of staff, location and views as good as the pictures look, and attention to detail and your every need catered for - simply brilliant. You simply have to sit back, relax and enjoy the holiday of a life time as the team take care of you. (I can't even say that choosing which restaurant to eat at was the hardest task of the day, if you weren't eating the hotels own great food, the staff would ask what you like to eat, recommend a restaurant, book a table and arrange a free ride there and back !) Finally just to say the smoking pipe the team located for me - and drove me to pickup, went down a treat as a last minute present for my father in law. We will remember the experience always - with thanks Mike & Sue. Rating 5* ++
I spent a week at the Samaya Seminyak with my wife and friends. We have been staying at the Samaya since 2011. It was the five times visit for us and we really enjoyed everything in Bali. I'm sure I 'll be back.
I've read the negative reviews left for this hotel and just cannot agree with the writers. This was the 3rd stop on our family holiday after Singapore and Ubud and we saved the best till last. The private villas are spacious and being walled with their own pool allow you to really relax in your own space. My one and only complaint is that whilst the villa has a huge bed, loads of space, a large bathroom with a double shower, jacuzzi bath, toilet and bidet; the space for clothes was a bit small with a few cupboards and one small wardrobe and no drawers, meaning we had to pile shirts and shorts etc up. If the hotel could sort that out it would be a bit easier to keep your clothes in good order but that's my only -ve point and I still think this is a great location that I will hopefully return to one day. Like other reviewers I cannot fault the staff, they are genuinely friendly and can't do enough to help. We stopped in peak season and the main pool was usually very quiet and there was always plenty of loungers available. The breakfast is fantastic, when you sit on a lounger you get a fruit salad and iced water, then later you get afternoon tea, all complimentary. You don't need lunch and we weren't even felling hungry until around 8.00pm. Seminyak itself is a bit bonkers, the traffic in the day is a bit off putting, constant queues and pipping horns. You don't hear this at the hotel so bear this in mind if you are looking at reviews to pick a hotel in Seminyak.
My husband and I stayed at the Samaya Seminyak for 4 nights and couldn't have asked for more. From the huge and luxurious villa with beautiful private pool and courtyard to the service and food - everything was certainly five star plus. Every single member of staff we encountered during our stay were genuinely friendly, couldn't do enough for you and made our stay extremely enjoyable and relaxing. The beach front location was ideal to sit and have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or an evening meal whilst watching the waves roll in. On our departure we bumped into Ray Clark (General Manager) who took time to chat with us and offered his support to us if we needed anything during the second part of our trip. We really couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough if you want spotlessly clean superior luxury accommodation, fantastic food and friendly, first class service. It is undoubtedly one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Hopefully we will get to return one day - just amazing!
We stayed at the Samaya Seminyak at the end of July for 1 week. The hotel is very well located, not far from the main shops and the incredible choice of restaurants, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. Our accommodation was fabulous. We had two 1 bedroomed beach front villas with their own private pools. Absolute luxury. We then stepped out into lush gardens surrounding a main hotel pool (which was rarely used but so beautiful) and then straight onto incredibly comfortable sun loungers next to the beach with an amazing view of the huge waves. As soon as our loungers had been prepared for us we were immediately offered iced water, followed by fresh fruit. The water was topped up throughout the day. Now the food....firstly breakfast. We were really spoilt for choice, everything was delicious. We sampled a few things on the lunch menu which was varied we didn't tire of the choices. A real treat was the complimentary afternoon tea - the scones are so delicious. We dined at the hotel on a couple of nights and yet again the food was fabulous. I would like to thank all of the staff who were so attentive, always smiling and obviously very happy in the work. You all made our stay so special. A huge thank you to Ray, the General Manager who made sure we will remember our Silver Wedding Anniversary for years to come. It really was all so special. We can't wait to return sometime in the future.
I'm afraid it says more about YOU than this remarkable place; home now for nearly 72 hours and pining for a return visit; you leave every care behind as the attentive staff and beautiful setting take you in; I struggled with the assessment of value in this review -- as the price is considerable, but the return is incredible, too; no petty "nickle and diming" here as the amenities flow freely (free breakfasts featuring an exquisite juice menu and any food item you could want; complimentary minibar; midday fresh fruit; afternoon tea; a 24-7 butler service); we marked our 25th anniversary during our stay and resort manager Mr. Ray Clark and his staff helped us to celebrate with a heart-shaped flower arrangement and celebratory cake awaiting us; we stayed in a garden villa that required a short (3 minute) golf cart ride from the beachfront resort; while this was mildly inconvenient, we always had a cart available to caddy us back and forth and usually learned something new/informative from the staff member who chauffeurred us on each occasion; the villa itself was huge and had every feature you could want; we loved the privacy and space it afforded; the serenity of the infinity pool and water wall offered tranquility; the hotel room fundamentals were all sound (hot water, AC, reliable wifi, good TV and options, etc.); the added perks were nice too, like a double shower, double sink; we even received complimentary dry cleaning; never seemed like anything was a problem and when there was a question, there was a quick, reliable answer; the only problem with our stay -- it was too short (two nights); it was also great that we enjoyed access to the resort even after checking out (our departing flight was not until close to midnight), so we enjoyed most of the day at the resort and also took in the Seminyak Square for shopping nearby; If I had to be critical of anything is was the inability to control the noise of neighbors (crying child) or the construction project taking place nearby (which went into the evening); enjoyed in-room dining one night and the food was good, service quick; the spot on the beach was great -- always something to watch (surfers, dogs playing, horseback riding, and, of course, the surf); Beware: when the red flag is flying, denoting dangerous undertow, they mean it! Despite being a strong swimmer, I got thrown around in the surf and struggled to swim back in; while there are security guards on-duty, there are no lifeguards, so be cautious; We came with very high expectations and, in total, those expectations were met and then some! While it's a long way from the U.S., I would not hesitate to make a return visit to The Samaya.
My hubby and I frequent Seminyak yearly and this year decided to stay at The Samaya. We wanted a peaceful sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle. This location is awesome, right by Bodyworks, Sea Circus and Urchin which are all fabulous. The Breeze restaurant which is within the Samaya is also beautiful. Cocktails at sunset and the morning Ala carte breakfast was sensational. The beachside Villas are great, incredibly private and they are huge! The decor isn't too exciting perhaps my only constructive criticism... I loved the Cabanas by the main pool, you could be in the shade then jump on a sunbed to catch some rays then back to the cabana! The fact there is much space means you were never on top of other guests which I personally look for in a resort. I like peace and privacy and listening to the ocean whilst sipping on a drink was heaven!! The service here is next level. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and any request was met immediately. Rooms are cleaned twice daily and there are little perks but I don't want to ruin the surprises if you stay! I will say however the free shuttle service is very appreciated... we scooted in the day but when going out to a nice restaurant by night, all dressed up, it was handy to have the shuttle. We never got to go on our Honeymoon and this trip was everything we missed out on, romantic peaceful and luxurious. It has the feel of somewhere more secluded than Seminyak as it's way more chilled however if you do want some action your only a moment away! We will be back for sure!! Thank you to Ray and his formidable team for making our stay so memorable.
We stayed at the Samaya Seminyak for 4 nights and couldn't be happier with our choice. We stayed in one of the royal courtyard villas, in hindsight we would have preferred to stay on the beach side as the inconveniences definitely outweighed any benefits. The main pools are kept lovely and clean. The breakfast service is a little slow at peak times but understandably so as it is a la carte. Afternoon tea is also a nice perk of staying here which can even be served to you at your sun lounger by the pool. The villa was huge and always kept nice and clean although we did have to request for some toiletries to be restocked on one occasion. On our penultimate date, there was some black netting put up once side of our villa wall about 20m high without any comment as to why! Our only assumption was to block out the crane a couple of hundred metres away which we must admit did make the villa feel less private. On the whole, a really great stay.
