We chose this hotel because we had stayed here in the past. We made our reservation on Booking.com and it was quite easy, and I called in advance to arrange for airport pick up at a small fee. Since we were arriving at around midnight I thought this the best way for the hotel to know what time we would be arriving as we were taking there transport. Check in was a breeze considering we were the only people checking in at that late hour. We ordered room service and even at 1AM+ they were still up and were able to accommodate us. Food arrived rather quickly considering the time. We had a great three day stay and the breakfast was enjoyable, with ready made eggs and bacon - which is a big positive for me. My recommendation is if you are looking to take a trip, say Ululate Temple, you arrange with the hotel and their driver. There are other options to purchase your activities, as across the street there are vendors selling the same activities. I just prefer traveling with the hotel transport. We also hired the hotel driver to take us to Kuta for shopping. You can arrange with the driver directly to take you back - or take a Blue Bird Taxi back to the hotel. All in all a very relaxing, peaceful and quiet stay. I do recommend if you ask front-desk not to put you too close to a elevator as usually these are the nosiest places especially in the early morning when travelers are departing and you want to sleep in. The staff was friendly, and most helpful. We would return especially for them.
We spent two nights here. After a 36 hour transit this was the perfect place. Check in was efficient including the opportunity to book excursions for the next two days. All dining options were explained. The man who escorted us to our room explained how all the electrical etc. worked. Then we crashed. Room was lovely with a view of the beach. The gardens are lush and colourful. Breakfast was near perfect. There is something for all tastes. The staff friendly and fast. We had dinner in the Italuan restaurant. My penne arrabiata was good. My husband's chicken was not. It was removed from the bill. The beach is wonderful when the tide is in. If not, you can use the lovely pool. We would definitely return, given the opportunity.
My husband and I stayed here recently in the roof top suite for two nights. It was absolutely beautiful. The room was enormous with 180 degree views of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the whole experience was perfect. A lovely resort in the perfect location.
The Grand Aston was an absolute treat. The whole resort just speaks relaxation, whether you want to relax next to the pool, the ocean or in the beautiful garden. The pool is huge with its own created beach running into it. The pool bar has the most amazing and biggest range of cocktails. They have three on site restaurants with a big variety of delicious options. The staff were the among the friendliest I've experienced. Power water sports are offered right next to the resort so one can easily enjoy the more active side if you've relaxed long enough. Please note that we were never bothered at the resort by any noise from water sport activities. The room was exquisite with lots of space and all the necessary (and more) amenities. Fast WiFi was available through out the resort.
Great value for money. We spent here 5 nights and entirely enjoyed our stay. Good rooms with ocean view, great to watch sunrise every morning. Attentive staff, good breakfast buffet, overall location okay.

The Grand Aston is one of those hotels that you pay little and expect not much and wows you at the end! It is really the genius deal. By no means is the best hotel of the area. The competition is fierce and the choice are endless, Grand Hyatt and Conrad are in the area and they will blow the socks off this hotel but probably will bankrupt you for it. So Grand Aston was the one for me. It is an excellent hotel worthy of they star rating. The facilities are to the point, the choices of restaurants good,. the breakfast buffet extensive and fully catered, the swimming pool designed in a very cleaver way the attention by the beach fantastic, the room spacious and the aircon will give you a best night rest. They have this Rupiah Hot Deal a sort of top up bill that invites you to spend the money in the hotel, it was worthy for the drinks by the pool and the night that you're too tired to go out, but not what you want if you're looking for as a all inclusive deal. I rather not to have 'all inclusive' because that chained you to the hotel. I'm the kind of traveller that wants to explore the area and try the local restaurants. The staff was gracious and very helpful when we needed directions or ideas. They do have a tourist board with plenty of choices for activities outside the hotel.
The Good I have stayed at the Aston 3 times now and it has met expectations each time. It is not a 5 star hotel so don't expect it. but it is neat, comfortable and friendly. Rooms are spacious Breakfast offers a large variety and is tasty The aircon works very well The pool is lovely and I always had a deckchair when I wanted Situated on a nice stretch of beach Some lovely local restaurants close by The Aston taxi drivers are wonderful! The Bad We had to move rooms as the one offered had a distinct mold smell - something they must battle constantly in the humidity. New room was offered straight away and was lovely. Dining at the hotel (other than the included buffet breakfast) is expensive and unimpressive - very generic hotel food at international prices. Not unexpected but still disappointing. You are much better crossing the road and eating local. A lovely stay all up and will definitely return.
Second time at this hotel for another two weeks. This time I had chosen a room with a ocean view. Not disappointed at all! Balcony is perfect for a morning coffee watching the sun rise and then for some evening drinks. Either before dinner or just relaxing before bed. Clean, spacious rooms. Comfy bed! 2 bottles of water a day and coffee/tea. A fridge with a bit too expensive items. But works to store what you buy at the minimart across the street. The pool is clean and various with a little beach in it but it needs some TLC. Some loose tiles and that's it. Pool bar serving drinks and light food. Sandwiches, pizza, bugers and so on. They even set up a ice cream bar that i didn't try. On the other side of the walkway, there is the beach. From the pool to the beach: 30 steps! They clean the beach every day but still some rubbish from the ocean will float ashore. Nothing the hotel can be blamed for! Breakfast: Everything there is to wish on a buffet regardless your preference and as all the service at this hotel, excellent and very kind. For the restaurants on the premises see separate reviews. On the road outside the hotel there is a lot of restaurants to choose from. But beware, the door to the hallway are thin. So people talking there, sounds like they are in your room. I will be back and next trip already booked!
Great location, amazing staff, and the room we stayed at was incredible! We renewed our vows there, using the wedding/vow renewal services the hotel provides, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The kids club was great, babysitting services was a big plus! Oh, and Breakfast was top notch! I have absolutely no complains, I highly recommend this place to stay if you are going to the Nusa Dua area
