We stayed here as a party of 6 - my older sister and her husband booked a suite and were most disappointed due to the smell. It would seem that there are plumbing issues as we saw the maintenance crew walking around with plungers on many occasions. Rooms were ok, but balconies were tiny. My other sister and her husband were in an adjoining room, but we could not see them when we were on the balconies as they are separated by a concrete wall. Normally we like to chill before going out for dinner with a couple of drinks, but this was spoiled by the balconies. Housekeeping staff were excellent and very helpful. The only poor service we received was at the pool bar by the oldet staff member there. Regardless of where the Happy Hours were, we stopped going there and were happy to pay extra. Thinks this guy is in the wrong job!
My family and I spent 4 lovely nights at the Grand Aston. On arrival we were really impressed with the large foyer area on entering the Hotel, we had a very quick check – in which was nice and we were also given cold towels and a welcome drink. We stayed in a garden deluxe room with my son who is 5 and the room was huge, the bed was enormous and we all slept in the one bed with enough room for everyone. We had a lovely bathroom with hairdryer and a large corner bath with towelling slippers and Bali dressing gowns. The breakfasts were excellent and varied and a good choice for every palate each morning. They did have special buffet evenings which were rather expensive and so we didn’t eat in any of the 4 restaurants. On our first evening we went the beach restaurant and got charged $5 for a bintang! They added $4 for service charge, you go outside and you only pay $2. The Grand Aston is immaculate, the grounds outside are always kept clean and free of leaves and any rubbish. We walked along the beachfront and saw the grounds and the beach area of the other hotels along the road, and none of them kept the beach as clean as they did at the Grand Aston. The other hotels beach were full of cigarette buts and leaves and not very inviting for a tourist. The pool was large although my son who is 5 complained they didn’t have a separate children’s pool that was shallow, he could only play on the outskirts around the pool. The Hotel does have a kids Club, but I noticed by looking on their list that most of the activities you need to pay extra for, so we didn't bother. They should try and have more activities that are free. There are many restaurants and bars outside of the Hotel, in particular The Altichnaya, their food was wonderful and we ate their on a few occasions, the staff are very lovely. They have a good varied menu and some great Cocktails too. Why pay exorbitant prices at the Hotel when just across the road you can eat amazing food at a good price. The staff were lovely at the Grand Aston, they are wonderful, everywhere you go you are greeted with a warm smile and a hello. If you are staying in Nusa Dua, then The Grand Aston is a lovely Hotel.
My husband and I stayed 5 nights for my birthday. Nice resort, clean, grounds very well maintained, large room and bathroom. Nice pool and clean beach...good location close to many restaurants and pretty good breakfast buffet with many options. Wish entire resort was smoke free...did not enjoy smokers at the pool. Fitness room too hot and stuffy but overall a good trip! Friendly staff and we had a great stay!
We have never written a trip advisor review before but after staying at the Grand Aston we felt compelled too. For those visiting Nusa Dua for the first time, please beware that the Grand Aston isn't located in the gated community of Nusa Dua among the 5 star resorts. Its further down the beach in Benoa where the ocean is very average in comparison to Nusa Dua Beach. This hotel is quite run down and looks better in the photos online, however you get what you pay for and it is significantly cheaper than other resorts in the area. The main issue we had and our reason for writing this review is because the music played at the pool made it unbearable to stay at the resort during the day. They only have one pool (which is actually quite nice) but they play terrible tragic 90's dance techno music very loudly (to the point where you can't hold a conversation) all day. Examples include the Venga Boys and Guns and Roses. What could have been a relaxing environment, instead felt like being on Kuta beach. We didn't once utilise the swim up pool bar as this is where the music was coming from. And we're not complaining because we're old and grey, we're young travellers and like good music. This stuff was just horrible. We left the resort everyday, and didn't return until the music has stopped and the Balinese instrumentals had resumed. On a side note we did request a music change multiple times, and even just a volume reduction, however nothing was done. On a positive note, Giorgio restaurant attached to the resort was lovely and if you are staying at another resort they will come and pick you up.
We stayed in an ocean front suite. You have high expectations when you do this. And all our expectations were met, if not exceeded. The locations is superb, the views are stunning, the rooms are very comfortable. The food is delicious, and the staff are very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Ms Wiratnadi was particularly helpful in the breakfast area. This was an experience we will long remeber!
The trip to Bali with a group of family and friends to witness the marriage of my son was a memorable event. There is something special about the staff, who are so friendly and only want to please, from the security guys with little English, to the director, they were all so kind, caring and warmly invited our group. The pool area which was expansive with an island or two and a pool bar was so clean and even the man cleaning the pool at 6am was friendly and had a smile on his face. The staff pulled out all stops to make my son's marriage to his princess such a wonderful occasion. If I had my time again I would think I would have my wedding at the Grand Aston. We spent over a week enjoying the lead up to the wedding and then celebrating together after the wedding. I ceremony in Adelaide would have been over and done on the day, but this was such a lot of fun with a good bunch of people. Thank you Grand Aston and staff ... for making this a special day for my children :-)
From arrival to departure the staff have been polite and approachable. Staff helped to organize our day trips around bali. We had a room with ocean view. Great restaurants and service. Highly recommend
We just spent one night in the rooftop suite and can't fault it. Amazing views, gorgeous room and the staff were incredible. They treated us like family and couldn't do enough for us! I can't say enough good things about our stay and the included buffet breakfast was fantastic too. As was the complimentary 30 minute massage for two people. Would definitely stay here again. :)
Cannot stay anywhere else in Bali. They have the best staff and they are all beautiful and welcoming all the time. They are my second family and can't wait to see them again. Food is always fantastic especially breakfast and their Italian restaurant georgios.😊
Just returned from 10 nights at this hotel. The photos of their website are exact. The staff are very polite and friendly and all speak very good English. You are greeted with a signature drink on check in. We stayed in an deluxe ocean view room. The room was clean and comfy. The bathroom was lovely. The only thing with nearly all the ocean room view rooms is you are not facing the ocean, it is a side view and trees do hinder the view. The only minor fault. The pool area has more than enough sun beds and more on the private beach area. Again, very clean with plenty of staff to serve you food and drink around the pool. We especially like the Bali Luna and Gorgio restaurants. Delicious food. Would recommend this hotel,
