The Grand Aston Hotel was a very good choice, it is an older Property but well maintained and the Staff service level across the Board was very good. The Rooms are spacious and comfortable and very important the AC was working well. For us the highlights were : the Pool area- great Pool and well maintained Surroundings, the Breakfast was fantastic with a very good selection, the Spa very good with wide selection of treatments and very experienced Staff. Other Meals we had at the Hotel were so-so ,but there are a number of good Restaurants in easy walking distance of the Hotel, the Beach is not the best and not ideal for swimming in the Sea,over-all we would stay at the Grand Aston Again
We stayed at the Grand Aston from the 10th June until the 17th June. Check in was fast and efficient. From the moment we set foot on the hotel grounds the staff were super friendly and helpful. The resort is located on a nice side of the island and there are many restaurants within walking distance. The resort amenities were great as well as the selection of on site restaurants. The buffet breakfast had a great variety. The pool and beach are was also great. Check out was also quick and efficient. I would have given a 5 star review but feel that the room the gave us had no privacy when sitting on the balcony. We stayed in room 201. Great for couples who want the escape the hustle and bustle.
We just landed in the resort for a day to chill alongside the pool and the beach. Rooms were pretty decent with a good range of buffet breakfast including vegetarian. Pool is amazing to have fun especially with kids. The breeze and the hut point on the beach just adds on to the fun. Had amazing time laying on the benches till midnight. The beach could be a lil cleaner but none the less was not bad.
We decided to came to Bali for our honeymoon. After a lots of oferts we decided to come to Grand Aston. It was great. The service is excelent. It has wifi, pool, continental breakfast. It's a great location for holiday.
I had 4 days stay in the Grand Aston Bali, I'd say the location is the best part about this hotel, it's surrounded by many amazing restaurants, the water activity places are all there, but i expected they would care more about their "private beach", as no guests seemed to care about it as it seemed not so clean, yes there not much water activity near the hotel which means the beach should be more cared for, they cared more for the pool which was in fact nice, but for a beach hotel this seemed inefficient, breakfast buffet was great, loved the mixture of Western/Asian in the buffer .. other restaurants seemed too pricey, nearby restaurants are better in quality and quantity .. overall 5 star experience with a mediocre beach, but the view is amazing if you're looking for that ..
Had a nice stay at the hotel. When it comes to my hotel experiences in general i would not consider this a five star hotel, more of a 3-4 Star hotel. The reception is pretty nice, the pool is pretty nice. The service is ok. Had some issues with the toilet flushing (twice) and the accessibility of the room (technical problems). Moreover there is no cosmetic mirror, which makes it harder to have a clean shave. The deluxe garden room is rather large but nothing out of the ordinary. Mostly friendly personell. Improvement of english skills and service orientation could be made. The advertised WiFi reception does not go further than the direct pool area. Some downtime in WiFi occurred every now and then. Improvements can be made. Nice gym equipment.
My experience at Grand Aston could have been perfect however the reservation department of this hotel needs a major overhaul. To say that my pre-arrival and my dealings with the reservation department of this hotel was a nightmare is to put things very lightly. To start - the hotel had over a week notice of my arrival. I even sent them my travel itinirary. They knew full well that I would be arriving at around 0100 on Sunday. I understand that check in is at 1400 however all 5 star hotels I've stayed (we are talking hundreds in 20+ years) had always granted me an early check free of charge or for a small fee. First Grand Aston upon my arrival claimed they didn't know I was arriving hence the reason why they didn't send anyone to pick me up at the airport despite me sending them mutiple emails and despite me having proof that their reservation department had acknowledge my emails. I confirmed my arrivial atleast five times. Furthermore, not only did Grand Aston not grant me the early check in but at first they recommended I find another place to stay at until 1400. When I refused they tried to charge me an entire nights fee for checking in about 12 hours early; so in theory my first night at this place would actually have ended up costing me double. When I questioned the logic of that to the receptionist he too became confused so he called his manager who allowed me to stay at the hotel for about half a night rate which to me was reasonable. The bottom line, if the reservation department had done their jobs then I would never have had such issues. Also the staff of this hotel refused my request to speak with their management upon check-out. I got numerous excuses such as my manager doesn't come in until 4pm then 5pm then 6pm then he is off for, so on, so on. Now lets go to the room. The room itself was pretty nice however they put us in the corner of the other hotel and when you open the window your view is obstructed by a very unappealing construction site. Yes, our view was a grey shell of what seems to be a new hotel or a parking lot, it was so ugly we decided to keep the windows closed the entire time. The swimming pool was the highlight of the hotel and so was the pool side bar except for the fact that they close down at 1800. Now lets discuss the beach, it was dirty. I saw condom wrappers, dog feces, and a great deal of algae. The beach is not very well cared for and it is barely swimmable. The staff (except reservation department) would have been 5 stars had they not refused or resisted my multiple requests to speak with their management. Again, as a customer I should not be told a manager is too busy to speak to me. I should not be told to go sleep somewhere else until the check in time. I'm a senior executive and I never would say such things to my customers. The restuarants serves some decent food but nothing really superb. The prices are reasonable as well and I do like the pizza. In the end, this hotel has the potential to be given a five rating by me if they do a few things (1) Overhaul the Reservation Department, this department definately needs additional training, they need to better communicate with their customers, what happened to me was deplorable (2) Make Management more Accessable to Custombers - When I ask to speak with a manager the staff should make every effort to fullfill my request and not stonewall me, telling me manager was too busy is a huge turn off for me as well as telling me that a manager is going to arrive at a certain hour then when that hour comes changing the arrival hour again and again - this was clearly unacceptable behavior and it needs to be fixed (3) Clean Up the Beach, the beach was dirty and unswimmable, invest in a tractor and clean it up once a day, it is not that difficult (4) Update the Rooms, for the most part the rooms were fine but the furniture was dated and worn.
We had our wedding in Uluwatu and booked rooms for our friends at Grand Aston after my father took a look at the place a few months before. It was a great place because it was right on the beach, still cultural, but also had the right touches of modern for my friends. The hotel was also in walking distance to cheap local restaurants too. We loved the place so much that when we went back to Bali after seeing family in Jakarta, we booked a night there again.
Room was fine and air conditioning was very effective. Everything worked although the shower head was fixed and quite high so difficult to adjust for shorter people. Breakfast was good but nothing special. Coffee however was woeful and the hotel wanted to make an extra rp20K if you wanted to drink something decent. Check in was slow but otherwise no real issues with the service. Pool and beach location all OK. Very good transport service with free shuttle to Kuta. Staff were friendly overall but not overwhelmingly so with some glum faces about particularly in the pool and beach bars. No wine at the beach bar (unless you wanted it out of a box). Balcony was very small
Lovely relaxing stay here. The pool was lovely and clean with plenty of seating and shades. Everywhere was very clean and the breakfast was excellent. We ate at the hotel restaurant on two evenings and the food was really good. The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful. the free shuttle bus to Bali Collection stops outside the hotel hourly which is very handy if you want to go into Nusa Dua. There seemed to be a good age mix of people staying here and it was nice and quiet. We had the use of the showers in the Spa before we left for the airport in the evening. A really nice peaceful place to stay.
