we did a late booking for this hotel due to not liking our recent hotel choice, we got a great price and even got 2 rooms close to each other for my 2 kids and my hubby and I. As soon as you walk in the staff are all smiling and so very friendly and very accommodating. everything was very clean and organised. We definitely be staying here again.
Was very very surprised by this hotel and their staff. We paid $135 for 2 rooms for 2 nights and they upgraded us as well. Great staff Great Location and fantastic prices will definitely be bringing my family and friends there again.
We first stayed at The Sun Hotel (see separate review) opposite the awesome Chumplang Mas Hotel in Legian. It is off the main Melasti street, down a alleyA family of 5 (2A + 3K). The Family room accommodation was huge, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms plus room for a extra single bed. We were on ground floor it was very quiet & close to the lift. The pool was great for the kids to swim in, but they did prefer the pool on the roof instead. The staff were always helpful & friendly. We had an issue with the TV & they changed to a different TV before we came back from lunch. One down side to the room was gaps in the big glass slide doors that let mozzies in. A minor thing... you can bet we will be back Chumplang Mas :D
If you are looking at reviews prior to considering booking this property, there are a few things to consider. The quality of the property and its rooms as its presented on the website are not the most up to date. They appear to be from when the property was last refurbished. The property is tired and looks well used. The pricing however may compensate for this. The properties location is great being off two of the main streets Jelan Legian and Jelan Melasti yet with both easily accessible, with Jl. Melasti being the closer. The rooms although, large are dated. They have a fantastic balcony that overlooks the ground level pool (all rooms face inwards and are accessed from the outer sides of the property. There is visible wear and tear on the structure and furnishings. The bathrooms are very dated. The air conditioning in my room worked well though (this is always a MUST for me when visiting Bali). The TV is a modern flat screen and has a wide variety of channels with the majority being in Indonesian, however you will find HBO, Fox Movies, Nat Geo, CNN and a few other well known channels. If you want peace and quiet, you may need to consider another property. My visit did coincide with the end of Ramadan, however it was evident that the hallways create quite a boom box of noise traveling from either end of the building (which is fairly long). Noise also comes from the ground level pool or other guests balconies if they are outside talking or enjoying the night. The bed I found to be suprisingly comfortable and the rooms were cleaned daily and you can tell that the staff make every effort to ensure that its perfect. A slight annoyance was the door. You can only secure your door with a key from both the outside and inside. There is no key card access or a simple turn lock on the inner side of the door which does becoming annoying after a while. Occasionally, and I probably recall at least 3 times, the air con would push out the Bali sewerage smell (which may have something to do with the inverter located outside), but it would clear within a few minutes. The other improvement needed is lighting. The rooms at night are not well lit even with all the lights on. Room Service is fairly cheap and good quality. Comes quick and is 24 hour. Wifi is available throughout the rooms and is strongest on the balconies. You can see the wifi transmitters hanging from the top floor. Its strength and quality varies. Some days it was fast and efficient, other days I struggled to do the most simple of tasks. There are three elevators, two in the main lobby (only one works and goes as far as the 4th floor) and one at the rear that takes you right up to the spa and pool on the 5th floor. Daily breakfast was average. There is a good range of Asian inspired dishes in the buffet. Eggs and Bacon needs to be ordered through the staff and when it arrives it is a VERY small portion. I found myself having to order two just to get a normal size portion. The pastries varied from day to day, sometimes they we’re fresher and other days it seemed that they were from the day before. The area you eat is dark and can get crowded. Again very dated but the staff are always trying their best to please. The pools. I was deceived by the pictures. They have so much potential but they really fail to make the mark when you’re looking at what's on offer in Bali and at properties that are cheaper. The ground level pool is appealing and naturally with the height of the building only gets sun for a small portion of the day. The swim up bar surprisingly on my 9 night stay, was very rarely used. Looking down from your balcony you again can see how much potential it has but no efforts are being made in what is a very competitive hotel market in Bali. A rooftop pool always draws my attention but this one really disappointed. The photos make it look far more appealing. I stopped using the sun lounges after the second day as they were giving myself and visibly other guests sore backs. The wicker has worn and sagged so much you can see the frame and ultimately this is what you are lying on. There are no where near enough mats for the lounges and I spent most of my time laying on 2 or 3 towels on the floor which was so much more comfortable than feeling metal rods in your back. The towels are aged and tough. The pool area is poorly maintained. There are tiles missing around the area, badly flaking paint and areas clearly visible to guests piled with broken furniture and junk. I will say the complimentary massage I received as a part of my stay was one of the best I’ve had in Bali. I never got the ladies name but she was deaf and I can’t commend her enough! Even with her reduced communication, she really made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Another part of my package was a complimentary transfer either from or to the airport. As I was checking out at 430am I chose to use it for this. I was emailed within 24 hours of my booking to confirm for what day I was wanting to utilize the service. I advised for the return to airport and offered all my flight details. A few days in to my stay I did mention the transfer and if there was any need to re confirm. They advised that the day before was fine. I did this, again confirming my checkout time and their driver did not show up and was not able to be contacted when I was due to depart at 430am. They had to quickly try to organize a local taxi (at their cost) to take me to the airport. As I was leaving prior to breakfast being offered, I was able to arrange a breakfast box to take with me. I confirmed this the day prior and it was to be available for me at checkout. There was no breakfast box and no real effort to try to rectify this. Overall, if I didn’t move to another property over the 9 night stay, then they must have been doing some things right (plus with the influx of guests from Jakarta celebrating the end of Ramadan it would’ve been hard to find vacancy for a decent price). All I will say is the package price reflects the standard of the property and be mindful of their website pictures. If you’re happy with a large room with aircon, in a good location and able to look past the wear and tear, than you will enjoy this property. I think most will agree that the potential it has is HUGE and I myself found myself daydreaming about winning the lotto buying it and turning it into one of the best hotels in Bali!
I stayed here for 7 days with my 2 grandkids in the first week of July. I picked it because it was very resonably priced in a great location. Champlung mas is a lovely hotel with great staff. I loved the large pool access room and the cleanliness of the hotel.
Very large rooms and bathroom with separate bathub and shower. The rooms is clean and the ac is cold while the hot shower is good enough. Rooftop pool is nice with Kuta Beach view. the staff is friendly and the hotel is in good location.
I love staying at this hotel good location .the staff are lovely and kutut who cleans our room does and fantastic job very thougher job and is a beautiful and friendly person. Bobby who is the room co- ordinator for the cleaning of rooms is also very very helpful and friendly. For the price i find it great and stay there every 3 months. Well done to the friendly staff, The roof top pool is great as i has sun all day and the ground floor pool bar is also very enjoyable..The hotel is in a great position near Melasti St and Garlic lane close to resturants and near Legion markets.. A must to try
It's mostly Aussies at this hotel and the weird thing is all these rooms with balconies facing each other which is both interesting and at the same time not very private. But if there's a bit of a blue with some Aussies you get a prime view of the action. Aside from this it is a really lovely place to the stay, staff are just the loveliest. Food is very nice, we loved ordering lunch by the pool every day. Very handy pool bar and enjoyed the music and most of all the magazine/book rack and the fresh towel service. Top notch! Don't miss the rooftop bar, especially at sunset! Great place to watch it and enjoy some cocktails without all the hassles you get down the beach. Honestly, we have come to hate Kuta beach, there's no relaxation down there. Anyway this hotel is quite close by just a five minute walk if you want to go. I loved this hotel, just one small thing was the Wi fi only worked when sitting on the balcony, not so great in the room. However we found this in all the hotels we stayed at, it's the power of the modem. The other thing was having to log in regularly and then being told you can't log in anymore as you have exceeded your limit. Find a way around that and you are sweet. Overall a really well located central hotel, with lovely clean facilities, good food and reasonable prices. Would come back again.
LOVED this hotel! Amazing friendly staff, clean, great food, incredible swim up bar, 2 beautiful pools, massages, coffee/cake bar, cold aircon, room service available, cheap all round and in a prime location close to Garlic Lane and Kuta Beach. By far our favourite out of 4 hotels we stayed in over 10days!
We are a couple, early 20's from England and have had a really nice stay here for our first time in Bali. The reviews can be off putting but I think it's important for people to remember you're in Indonesia! There will always be issues with mosquitos/ants it's not really avoidable. We stayed on the 2nd floor and couldn't smell any damp and we had a lovely pool side view. The 2 pools are lovely especially the roof top one, best to go there late afternoon for the best rays! The staff are really lovely and will go out of their way to arrange things for you, we had drivers for a lot of our days out (shout out to Eddy who was laughing and joking with us and gave us a really great trip to Uluwatu) and the prices are reasonable and it feels safer than taking a taxi as you know you'll get a return trip for definite. Breakfast is nice, there is a variation of food and you can have eggs cooked any way that you like! The area is fairly busy but no where the hustle and bustle of central Kuta, and legian beach is really pretty and good for surfing! All in all would definitely recommend the hotel and the lovely staff and can't quite understand some of the negative reviews (seems like highly picky people!!). Thanks Champlung mas for a wonderful first trip to Bali :)
