We liked the hotel, but you pay a 5 star hotel price for a 2 star hotel. It is nice they let you stay one night as most others require two. The staff was not that friendly, they didn't even say hello when we walked up to check in. For $500 a night, I would expect at least a hello! The hotel itself it old, but well redone and very fitting for Catalina. We chose it because we had seen it on other trips and it looks awesome on the outside! They have a great observation deck, and the rooms have nice showers. The furniture is pretty old and beat up, again not what you would expect for the price. They give you two very flat pillows. I would have asked for more, but honestly didn'y want to deal with the front desk staff again. No coffee, in the room or the lobby either. They also do not supply conditioner, only a combo which does not work for long hair and salty air. If we would have paid less than $150/night this hotel would be perfect, but the price for what you get does not match up to the other hotels I have stayed at on the island.

Room was ready early. Gorgeous view.

Great front desk folks

Very good location, great property, friendly staff. Room small and old although clean. Staff won’t store your luggage like normal hotels would

Close to town. Small rooms

For being the best value for the price. Highly recommend it

We liked the 6th floor/rooftop deck and views. We wished it stayed open passed 8pm. Rooms did not have coffee maker, frig, or microwave. A/C worked well. Clean and comfortable.

The property was very pretty. Perfect views of the water. I do wish they had coffee machine in the room. Daisy at the front desk is a sweetheart. We would definitely stay again.

It was located close to everything

The hotel has been recently refurbished throughout. Although the hotel was built in the early 1900's (as is the case with many of the Avalon hotels) the ownership of Hotel St. Lauren has done a great job. Each room has individual air conditioning units that work easily and well, very comfortable beds with great sheets, clean and reasonably up to date bathrooms, big screen TV's, and modernized elevator. Additionally there are several very nice decks available to all guests. The decks have commanding views of all of Avalon and its harbor. My comments are commensurate with the age of the original hotel and the efforts the ownership has made to make guests want to come back...which we certainly will. It should be noted that the location is two blocks from the main waterfront activity, but the walk is very manageable for those that can walk easily without assistance. Our room was made available at 1:00 that was two hours earlier than the 3PM time that rooms are stated. to be available.

We had a partial ocean view room, and although it was nothing fancy it was clean and quiet. The view was beautiful. The observation deck was even better. The staff was friendly and helpful. We brought ear plugs because of other reviews but did not need them.

Very cute hotel. Convenient location. The roof deck chairs were all put away, but my guess is that they are still limiting stuff like that for covid reasons, so it was fine.

Super thin walls you have to go to bed when you’re neighbor does or else they’ll complain

Perfect for a night! Good location on the island.

Walking distance to everything. Friendly and funny staff!
