Their reception closes at 8pm, a tad early. You have to arrange to pickup the keys from a safety deposit box in advance. Rooms are fine, I noted the bathroom was a bit mouldy but beds conformatble and no noise from the street. Wifi OK. Lots of rules like “no opening your door if your smoke detector goes off”?? You get a big fine if you do- well that sounds safe!
Overall stay is alright. It is located just within 5 mins walking distance from Queen St. The living room and bedroom are spacious with windows, wardrobe provided. Bathroom is clean despite really small and towel bar hangers weren’t in good condition (something that could be improved by the management). There is no aircon in the room, so it is a little bit stuffy at night and it might get hot in the noon during summer. Convenience stores and cafes are located just next to the building, convenient for tourist.
We had one of the tiny rooms on the ground floor and it is certainly basic with little room to move once cases are in and one high window. However the staff were friendly, the bed comfortable and the location great (5 mins from Queen St) so as a base for exploring Auckland for a couple of days it’s fine.
Can see what there going for, it's an apartment style and everythings there but only just. The kitchen was small, the TV small, to a point I would use it, but the essentials were there and nothing I can majorly think that was missing. However, and I'm probably going to be a bit harsh here, but in today's market a room doesn't have air con its missing something. I probably wouldn't care as much if NZ wasn't going via a heatwave atm but it is so, yeah. But more back to the topic it just didn't have anything extra that made me want to come again, everything you need but nothing wow. Somewhere to stay 1 night when you get to Auckland so you can find a fancier place for the next days.
Basic and averagely clean. Good for city sightseeing due to location. Reception desk could not do enough to help, such a great representative to the Waldorf chain. Our room was high enough to get a great view of the sky tower. Awesome at night.
Waldorf Tetra Serviced Apartments is a rather tall and reasonably modern building right next to the Auckland inner city area. It seems that a part of the building is rented out to students and some apartments are used for short-term accommodation. The check-in went smoothly and we were given our room on 6th floor. They only gave us one key which seems to be the case in many hotels and hostels in NZ. The apartment was quite spacious consisting of a lounge area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. In addition there was a small balcony which was nice. There were some signs of tear&wear but nothing serious. The street outside the building was occasionally filled with cars accelerating but the sound insulation was ok so the noise was not a big issue. We would have appreciated a bit harder mattrass though. All in all this is an ok place and can be recommended for travellers who do no expect luxury but instead a nice hub for a day or few.
Was a very large room, which I was surprised and happy about. Everything seemed very clean and you had everything you needed. Extremely disappointed in a 3pm check in but then still needed to check out at 10am, also having to remove our own rubbish from the room and having to go down to the basement to dispose of it. Did not realise it was next to multiple uni halls, so prob not to best place if there is party's. Otherwise very central
Nice apartment with reasonable views but was on 11th floor. Location from Queen street good but walk a nightmare very steep hill! Check in is 3pm which is later than any other accommodation I have stayed in, but check out still 10am?? (Should be 11am as not getting as much time). Booked through booking.com so apartment would not validate loyalty card!!Don't see why not ,still paid reasonable amount to stay and stayed 2 nights. Oh well means I probably wouldn't stay again, had they validated my loyalty card then I may have stayed just that... loyal , probably wouldn't stay again.
The truth is this appears to be a University student hostel that sells spare rooms as an "Apartment Hotel". Like several other reviews should have realised that from the "Rules" notices all around the building and switched but unfortunately all the regular places I stay were full. My room was effectively in a basement with small windows set 2 metres above the floor - worse right next to the rubbish collection which occurs at 4am! Final insult receptionist with limited English placed a $50 "hold" on my Visa; when I sought confirmation at checkout that this was lifted was told oh yes only to find that the amount had been charged straight to Visa and I now have to negotiate a refund.
Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Extremely disappointed, my room was the on the ground floor which should have been an indicator. The "apartments" are more like student long term accommodation - they shouldn't advertise and good business/family apartments. My room wouldn't have been suitable for more than one person. As it was on the ground floor (under reception) there was no view, WIFI was on and off, and there was a horrific humming/buzzing/radiating noise the entire stay. I complained about that and the fact that the fan in my bathroom wouldn't turn off (so more noise), reception said they would send someone to check it out. When I returned from my evening out, the noise was as loud as ever. There is no 24 hour desk service so I had to ring the 0800 help number - which was incredibly rude and unhelpful, was told they had no other rooms so suck it up. When I checked out, I complained once again and the girl on reception said the staff member didn't hear anything when they investigated. I had recorded the noise and showed her to which she responded "oh". No compensation/refund offered. House keeping also knocked on my door TWO hours before check out, while I was in my PJs asking when I was leaving so they could clean the room. The reception offered to get the manager to contact me, he was standing in a room behind me doing nothing so I offered to wait to speak to him - but it was as if they gave some sort of symbol to him because I've never seen someone bolt so fast! My $50 bond has still not been released - a whole week later (there was no notice that this was required, and there is no mini bar etc that would require a bond). I have just rung the property as I still have had no contact from the manager, and don't expect to. They were as unhelpful as ever. Wouldn't recommend at all.
