The hotel was in deplorable and unsafe condition. Upon arrival around 2:00 a.m., the lobby reeked of urine and the building was unsecured. When we entered from the parking lot, the flimsy exterior door was unlocked and partially ajar. Although there was a buzzer next to the door, it was not in use.
When we entered to check in, the front desk was completely unattended. A framed sign next to the phone directed guests to call the desk manager’s cell phone—an indication that this lack of staffing is a standard practice, not an exception. We rang the bell several times and called the number before the manager eventually emerged from a back room. Later, when we came back down to request a refund and check out, we had to go through the exact same process—ringing the bell, calling out, and phoning his cell again before he returned to the desk.
The stairwell carpet was so heavily stained that its original color was unrecognizable, and the area was filled with a strong odor. Once we reached the second floor, we were met with loud televisions, yelling, and slamming doors. After entering our room, I turned on the bathroom light and saw a cockroach run from the bathroom into the bedroom. The bedding appeared dirty, the furniture was stained, the bathroom fixtures were rusted, and the door to the hallway could not be locked securely.
We immediately left the room and requested a refund.
