The hotel is great for its location near the train station. It was fortunately within walking distance of the train station (approximately one third mile across three or four sets of tracks). This is the only good thing I can share about our journey. I contacted the hotel twice to confirm that they had a shuttle to the train station at 8:30 AM, and could handle my folding wheelchair. This was when I first booked the hotel, and around a week out from our arrival. When we arrived around 11 PM, I reconfirmed the shuttle to the train station for the following morning at 8:30 AM. When we got to our room we discovered that the thermostat had been broken off the wall, with wires hanging out. The room was cold. We bundled up for the night. At 8:20 AM that next morning, when we went to the desk in the lobby, we were told that we needed to take the shuttle that had just arrived. We went to the shuttle and the driver said he was going to the airport, not the train station. I had to ride my wheelchair to the station, and my wife and daughter had to walk three large pieces of luggage the station. This through weather that had been light rain, but fortunately eased up for our journey. So, the location is good, but the amenities leave a lot to be desired.

Walking distance from the train depot. Breakfast was fine. Staff was fine. Room may not have been newly refurbished, but nothing was in disrepair. I can't understand why so many recent reviews are negative. This facility offered everything I needed.

We asked for a shuttle from the cruise ship dropoff point but it never came, so some of us walked and the rest of our group took a taxi. The desk seemed understaffed. We did get shuttle service the next morning to the airport and the desk worker was courteous. It was a satisfactory stay.

It was better however the AC unit was not great, the auto funtion did not work, so it was noise all time. Thank you..

The lobby was kept very clean and inviting. Our room smelled mildew-y, the vent fan in the bathroom did not work. My husband looked at the filter on the air conditioning unit and it had not been cleaned/changed in a long while. Breakfast had no fresh fruit (maybe it’s too expensive in Alaska) and the “eggs” weren’t good at all. The pancake machine was great!

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The only troublesome thing that my wife and I had during our entire stay at the Wingate by Wyndham Anchorage Downtown/Ship Creek, almost every day, we had to have our room key rebooted.

Location was perfect if planning to use the rail trains and buses. The hotel was clean but it can improve. Customer service was great during breakfast time and front desk.

Upon arriving the gal at the desk was working alone and there was a line up of people waiting to check in preparing for a cruise the next morning. She should have had help. The phone was ringing, placing several calls on hold, there was something messed up with the party in front of us reservation, yet she remained so kind, calm & professional!! She deserves recognition & a huge raise. For the money we had to pay for the one night was saddened by the room we were in. For that price, there should not have been large stains all over the carpet, some brown & felt “tacky” when I walked on them…gross. I should not have felt as if I had to be without my shoes. The room could use some updates, it’s obvious this is in need. The bed was comfortable and the surroundings quiet for a city.

Their computer system was down so it took an hour and 15 minutes to check in. This was after we waited for over an hour for the shuttle from the airport. The train station is right next to the hotel and the trains came in every hour-blowing its whistle. Very loud. The rooms need updating and a thorough cleaning.

Airport shuttle is a joke. Took for ever for the shuttle to come after I called for it. Rooms, I had lawn chairs in my room, that’s what made it a suite.
