Nestled in a forest of Mountain Hemlocks hundreds of years old, the home is located in a quiet neighborhood only a 5-6 minute walk from the Glen Alps/Flattop Trailhead providing the most direct and easy access to Chugach State Park. There are endless possibilities for hiking, climbing, and skiing from the house. Or, if you prefer to sit and relax and read a book, the view from the deck or living room couch of the Anchorage skyline and Denali/Mt. McKinley is spectacular. Northern Lights may be visible from August-April. During the months of May-July, there is not enough darkness to see the Northern Lights. Wild animals are frequent visitors to the property. Brown and Black Bears, Moose, Lynx, Coyotes, Wolves, Wolverines, Porcupines, Eagles, Owls, Snowshoe Hare, Ravens, and even a Golden Retriever have all been visitors to this property. If you see the Golden, his name is Pete and he may lick your face or hand. Please leave all the other animals alone.

Beautiful home and location! House was very clean, comfortable, well-stocked, owners were super helpful and responsive and live close by. Saw the northern lights two of our nights. Would absolutely stay there again for a future trip.

Our stay at Hemlock House was fantastic! Aside from the amazing views out of nearly every window, the home was clean, comfortable and perfect for our winter stay. The kitchen is fully stocked, making meal prep a breeze and the heated floors / towel rack in the main bath were very welcome in the winter cold. We spent lots of time playing Uno, reading, and connecting as a family.We also spent a lot of time on the many Nordic trails around Anchorage, our favorite of which is 10 mins from the home (Hillside).Thanks again for a fantastic stay, we will be back!
