Staff was warm and courteous. Hotel was clean. Lovely little breakfast. Great location for walking around the central city. Highly recommend this hotel. We had two rooms. One had plenty of room. The other was a little small, but it was quiet.

We arrived very early in the morning and were told our room would not be ready until 3 pm since the hotel was sold out. However, I became sick later in the morning and the staff did everything they could to get me into a room right away. I really appreciate the caring and concern they showed me. Thankfully, I felt better later that day but it was so nice to be cared about especially in a foreign country. I just can’t thank them enough for going to great lengths to get us into a room so quickly.

Room was clean and confortable and good central location whilst still being quiet. It suggests toiletries are included but only body wash was provided. For some unknown reason, our key cards were cut off before checkout and we got stuck in the garden area in the rain, trying to get out, as there are restricted access doors back into the main building and hotel exit, which was very inconvenient.

The lobby and restaurant area looked nice, but the general vibe of the room corridors and my room was so offputting that I cut my stay short by two nights even though I wouldn’t get my money back. The bed in my room was comfortable but the dark decor and hard floors made the room feel cold and unwelcoming. Better lighting, a lighter paint color and a rug would make the room more welcoming. There was nowhere to hang my coat or put anything. A little hook and floating shelf would have been an easy fix (I ended up hanging my coat and clothes in the bathroom.) It was very sparsely furnished which made my brief stay inconvenient. The toilet was also weirdly very high. I’ve been in worse hotels, and the location is good, but I would not stay here again as it doesn’t offer a very welcoming or comfortable space to rest while on vacation.

We did not avail ourselves of breakfast at the hotel, as it was not included, which is the only hotel of all those in our long itinerary that did not offer this as part of the room deal. We paid a lot of money for the particular room we took (and paid an extra €64 for the city tax. You would think it would have been included. This is why the hotel isn't getting top marks.

I'm not sure why this hotel had such high ratings. We were only at the hotel for an overnight stay with an early flight in the morning. The location was great and felt very safe. But the hotel lacked some basic necessities. Our shower kept going back and forth between warm and cold water, there were no washcloths in the room, and the lights were so dim it was hard to see anything.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Mercier for 4 nights (as part of a 12-day Europe trip from Toronto), and it ended up being one of our favourite stops. We stayed in a Comfort Double Room, which was a great size, perfect for unpacking and feeling settled. I loved that we could put everything away, even our luggage cases, which kept the space uncluttered. The room was super quiet, which was amazing for rest, and the robes and slippers were so great to have. Another highlight was being able to check in early after our long overnight flight. We loved having access to the Double Shift gym for a reduced fee—it’s a great gym and such a bonus to have while traveling. The location couldn’t be better either: right in the heart of Jordaan, so close to everything, but the hotel itself felt calm and tucked away. A few small negatives: there was no fridge in the room, housekeeping usually came around 5pm (a bit awkward timing when you’re getting ready for dinner), and our room window didn’t look outside but into an interior hallway. That made the space darker than we would have liked. Overall, though, the hotel was charming, comfortable, and perfectly located. We’d definitely recommend it and would happily stay again!

Great location and beautiful property! They keep the front doors locked, so I felt very safe. FYI, you can hear the bells ringing from the nearby church which is nice, but also takes some getting used to during the night. I would definitely stay here again!

Great boutique hotel 5 min to Anne Frank House and restaurants and a market and a bike rental nearby. Rooms large for European standards and area quiet . Overall service was excellent, special shout out to Camille for going over and beyond. Would definitely return!
