Good room, Helpful reception specially Maria, Delicious breakfast, nearby Metro and an easy going vibe..Joy Hotel was a perfect stay..We also had a chance to look around the Buljmer arena which is just a stop away..
again on the road for ice skating business and searched for an hotel in the Amsterdam region. Not an easy job as there are many hotels of different standards. For some reasons (I think it was the free parking) I ended up in this hotel and was surprised. Clean, modern building, friendly staff (although a bit weird that it seems that no one was speaking dutch but ok). It is in a bit remote area but the metro is only a 2 minutes walk away and will bring you to the city center in 20 minutes, if that's where you want to go.
I was delayed at Schipohl wnen my flight was cancelled due to snow. Joy was not too far away and had a vacancy at short notice. Reception was good and very helpful. The room was just right. Breakfast was good quality buffet and the coffee welcoming (once I had recruited a little help to work the complicated coffee machine). Staff explained the local metro service. There was even a toothbrush and paste set alongside all the chocolate in a vending machine. I had a good night's sleep.
My friend and I had 4 nights in The Joy Hotel a couple of weeks ago. Although it was described as a city centre hotel it was in fact a 20 minute ride on the Metro. This was not too inconvenient as the Metro is a fantastic service and the hotel was literally 2 minutes to the Metro station and the cost for a 4 day ticket was only€22 . The hotel was very clean, nice sized room, (but we had upgraded to a deluxe room) excellent walk-in shower, small fridge and safe in room but the hospitality tray only provided 1 tea bag and 1 sachet of sugar per person, no milk, no coffee but not that big of a problem as you have a fridge, we just went out and bought coffee and milk. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn’t consider it worth doing for €12.50 per person as my friend eats very little to no breakfast, so again, we bought fruit and yoghurts and put them in the fridge. Also need to mention that to buy said goods for fridge we had to go 2 more stops on the Metro to find shops and restaurants as there is nothing close by the hotel. Someone did say there was a shop but we never saw it. Having said this we absolutely loved Amsterdam (it’s not cheap mind and costs an average of 70cents to use a loo) We would love to return in the warmer weather and I think we would probably return to the Joy Hotel
The hotel is really close to the metro station and you can easily get rather quick to the city center. The services are poor I've stayed for 2 weeks and they've changed the sheets after a week, 3 days randomly I was left with no towels. I had to ask for hangers for 2 days. The floor was never vacuumed or cleaned during my stay. The personnel is nice and always says yes to anything you ask for.
I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights and I have nothing to fault with the hotel. It's out of the centre of Amsterdam but there's a metro station right around the corner, with metros running straight to Centraal Station, so it's very handy for getting back into the city. We personally chose the hotel as we were attending a gig at AFAS Live on our last evening - right by the Amsterdam ArenA - and this is literally 2 minutes away on the metro. Otherwise it's a 20 minute metro ride into the city. The room itself was very clean and modern. It was quite small but for two people, it was the right size, but I'm unsure on what it would be like for parties of more than two. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was also very clean, with a great walk-in shower. We didn't speak a huge amount with the staff at the hotel, as we were out most of the time but when we did, we found them helpful. The free wifi was also very quick and easy to use. If you're looking for a cheap hotel and don't mind being out from the centre of Amsterdam, then this hotel is a great option. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
We booked and paid for 2 twin rooms at this hotel via Hotels.com. The receptionist insisted they'd not received any payment from Hotels.com and told me to make a deposit by my credit card. Which will be refunded when they receive the payment. We arrived at the midnight after a long trip. My mother, aunt and uncle, all over 70 years old, were too tired to discuss. I just agreed the transaction by credit card and the receptionist guaranteed 100% refund when they get payment from Hotels.com. 44 days has passed and I've still not received any refund even they agreed double charged and refund by e-mail. Now they don't even reply my e-mail. I warn everyone do not do the same mistake as me. You'll never get any refund from them. Fraud!
the location is ok, amenitities the only think is missing for this category of hotel, are the slippers. Then the room wasn't as clean as it should, plus we asked to have our sheets changed every day and not only they didn't do it but they didn't changed them from 5 nights.
Excellent choice!!! The room was not cramp, modern and updated!!! The staff extremely helpful...very convenient to walk to the metro!! Can easily get to the main attractions and back!! Will definitely book again
The hotel has an excellent location - close to the metro line and close to the Amsterdam ArenA - we were there for a concert - a little ways from Amsterdam central. Free parking was wonderful. We had drinks at their bar one night and that was nice too. While I know this is a new hotel, we definitely ran into a few hiccups. The first room we were in, the toilet started running. It was pouring hot, steamy water in the toilet and would not stop. Because of this, we ended up having to change rooms. When we got to our new room and tried to use the shower, no soap/shampoo came out of the dispenser. Luckily, my wife brought some of her own, so we ended up using that. We also went to turn on the TV, and while the light on the TV switched from red to green, nothing actually came on the TV. When I tried to tell the reception about it at check out, the response I received was "You need to contact the front desk to learn how to turn on the TV." Another guest was complaining about the same issue at the same time. If there are specific directions, then that information should be shared with guests as they check in. Not a huge deal- it's not like we went to Amsterdam to watch TV, but an inconvenience nonetheless. Another time, we went to the elevator and the panel to call the elevator was off and laying on the ground. There were also some splattered stains that went from the door frame of the bathroom to the ceiling to the opposite wall. So while we overall enjoyed the location and for the most part what we needed from the hotel, hopefully, they can get some of these issues fixed to help for smoother stays for their guests.
