Very good hotel with nice look and close to public transportation. It will take you about 20 minutes to get to Amsterdam Central from this location. The staff in general was helpful except for one guy who would not help me with the card at the elevator - in the end I had to bring my luggage upstairs using the stairs.
about 20 miles frm centre, 60euro each way in taxi, rooms not clean and staff are terrible not interested...will not stay here again, booked 2 rooms and paid in full, wish i never because we only ended up staying 1 night and leaving next morn..... cancelled the rest of weekend and went into town to book another hotel to finish our stay. staff werent even interested at all, wouldnt give a refund either!!!! im complaining to Expedia and all other sites that have this hotel.... I am also going to put this review and pictures up on facebook!!!!! Even if they offered half money back I would of accepted, but offered nothing and just gave us a funny look....
I chose this hotel since it has free parking and is fairly close to the Amsterdam University where I needed to go the next day, and I must say it wasn't a nice experience. My room was on the 2nd floor, facing the highway and the rails. So every passing train was pretty load, same goes for the highway traffic. I honestly thought in the beginning the windows must be open due to the noise. And talking about windows, they a screwed shut, which is OK, but they have a draft. So if you sit at the built-in desk in front of the window you are sitting in a constant draft. The solution offered was a second towel to block the draft. Changing the room was not possible because the Hotel was booked out. There is no hairdryer in the room, which is kind of surprising. Calling reception (btw, the numer is #9, it's not written anywhere) I was told I need to pick it up downstairs, it can't be brought up. So if there is a line of people checking out, you have to wait. And just on a small side note, I forgot my tooth brush in the previous hotel (my mistake, I know), but Bastion completely ran out. I know this can happen, but it was for me the final reason to avoid this chain in the future. It might be unfair to judge Bastion from one bad experience, but if there are other hotels to choose from I don't see a reason to go with someone I had a pleasant experience with.
The staff were friendly and can communicate in English fluently.Downside of the hotel:bed was far too low,for those of you with rhematic knee pain not good. No bath in the bathroom just a shower. No good drainage in the bathroom for the water to easily go away, nothing could be done because it's a busy hotel,I think it's the building system. I would advise the management to use a white quilt instead of a brown quilt. Never used mine because it may hide stains due to the colour. The room is ok. Management should endeavour to ask the cleaner to change the bedsheet daily. I spent three days no bedsheet was changed. In the room there was a telephone,a safe,a free WiFi which was an advantage to the guest. Finally an indoor swimming pool,free shuttle every 15mins to Amsterdam Airport.From Airport you can connect buses,and trains to the city. Hotel is about 10 mins to Schipol Airport. I would stay again when next I visit Amsterdam on a short visit.
I spent three nights at the Bastion Hotel, which was only a short walk to the conference centre I was working at. It was exactly what you'd expect of a hotel for business people. Clean rooms, helpful staff, adequate restaurant (microwaved food for sure) and bar. Suited me just fine!
Good service, clean rooms and very polite people :) Very close to the train and metro station. The food was very good. The sleep quality is excellent there because is very quite. Like this place and when i have chance i will book it again.
I stayed for 3 nights with a group of colleagues in 4 different rooms. In one of the rooms, a colleague found a small scorpion on his bed; while my bed was pretty hard - you can almost feel the spring. When we checked out on 31/10/2017, some of us accidentally left our belongings. Few days after I made a long distance call from Jakarta to ask for them. On my first call, I was told to call back again since the lost box was locked. On my second call (4/11/2017 at noon), the female receptionist said that she could not find anything and would call me if the stuff were found. When I asked if the hotel had my Indonesian phone number, she said that the computer was down so that she could not look it up. What - really??
Cheap hotel in a difficult location for tourists new to Amsterdam . Bad pedestrian access across 4 lane road . It’s an ideal commuters ( cars and train travellers ) if you have a good sense of direction . Next to a fuel station and surrounded by major roads and rail . Long way from shops and tourist points if you want to walk . Frequented mostly by overnight delivery van drivers who get up early making a bit of noise for those who sleep late .
Very good base for four days in Amsterdam. 10mins walk to the metro and then 15mins into town. Check in at all hours with left luggage to make the best of your time. No near to go into central station when going to or from the airport, just intercity to Amsterdam zuid and metro from there. Nice small gym. Coffee machine and pods provided. Could have done with some tea for us British.
The location couldn't have less charm, on a Motorway next to a gas station. It's a ten minute walk to metro station so that's fine we figured we're only sleeping there. The room was basic and would have been ok but it was filthy, the floor had a large sticky mess on it that we didn't want to know what it was, and the small bathroom absolutely stank of stale urine - it clearly hadn't been seen a mop or bleach in a long while. They just don't clean in this place. Asked at the front desk for some 'attention' given to the floor and the bathroom, that request was ignored completely. A double whammy of a dreadful location and shocking hygiene standards. Avoid
