Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Amstel

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a cheap package with flights. I booked the cheapest one and then was really Apprehensive about the cleanliness and distance to town once I'd read the other reviews. However, getting to and from central station is really easy and never took more than 20-30 mins including the 10 min walk to the metro station. Overamstel is the easiest in a straight line from the hotel. It is on a main duel carriageway in an industrial area so there's no nice views and crossing the road can be tricky but it's not an issue and you don't hear road noise inside. The rooms are very basic but have toiletries, Towels and coffee facilities. We found the sheets to be clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a safe too which was great. However, there was a dusty sock from guest who knows how long ago and under the bed was apparently quite dirty but I didn't look myself. I think as long as you don't look too hard it's clean and good value for money being as it's cheap. I would stay again if it was the same price.

My only problem with it was the lack of crossing across the main road to the hotel, other then that it was an okay stay. Plus the coffee machine maker was sooooo loud!! But the rooms were cleaned daily to a great standard and the staff were really friendly.

Stayed here 2 nights with my husband. Only one person on Reception, so a delay in booking in. The room was quite small and the bathroom tiny (when I put a new toilet roll on the holder it made it difficult to get on and off the toilet)!! The door on the safe was broken (hanging off its hinges) but with a good shove, my husband managed to get it back into a state where it was usable. The hairdryer in the bathroom was also broken although I was able to obtain a hand-held one from Reception. The floor area near the bed was quite sticky and clearly had not been mopped for a while. There was a coffee maker, but the first day, we hadn't been left any creamer (second day, there was some). We were on room only, and breakfast was an additional €14 each - we didn't bother, and went out to a cafe instead. In fairness, the public spaces looked nice (bar area and restaurant), but we won't be going back - very overpriced for what we got.

Dirty room. Towels were shredded.. Window could not open due to 138 screws to keep it in place. For that price, I already had better hotels in and around Amsterdam. Public transport closeby is a plus! The nightbusses are a perfect solution and stop at 1.4km from the hotel.

The location of the hotel is as stated not in the city central, the metro was 15-20min walk away. Big plus is the hotels private parking free of charge. The cleanliness of the room can be improved, the bed cover was stained on one of the beds. Breakfast area was nice with very good service.

I wanted to book a room for 2 nights in this hotel. But with free cancellation, it is somewhat more expensive, but I prefer it. When I returned to the reservation page of Booking, after having looked at different types of rooms, I got confused when I chose the room without the cost of cancellation. I noticed, a few minutes after receiving the confirmation by Email. I called them right away. They were given my explanations. I tried it through Booking, they did not accept it either. They will answer that they are in their right. And they are right. I just wish you never get confused. It will be that they are perfect to act like this. I work in the hotel as well, and I know that they could perfectly cancel the reservation (more than 3 weeks before my possible arrival date). I promised to re-book right away with the most expensive "free cancellation" rate. Of course, I can not comment on the hotel, because I have not get inside. But if I can comment on the reservation service, and warn potential future Trypadvisor clients, be very careful with these people, that they do not forgive a mistake. And they do not care if you give them a few minutes to receive the reservation. So I reaffirm myself, a very very bad service.

my son and partner booked this hotel on When they arrived they found the hotel to be filthy and unpleasant. Immediately after seeing their room and the hotel facilities they decided to leave. they complained to the manager and showed him the pictures of the dirty room, shower and facilities. They were asked if they wanted it cleaned! Is it too much to expect your room to be clean when you arrive. I noticed that other recent reviewers have also complained about the cleanliness. Anyway, they left and booked into another hotel and i am still fighting the Bastion Hotel for a refund.

Very nice place and the price was cheap! There's a fridge and small freezer to freely use. Every day when they cleaned the room we also got new coffee and water bottles. And new towels, of course. There was free parking underneath the buildings but it was very narrow down there and the exit is a bit difficult. So be careful, novice drivers. Maybe adding some padding for the exit wouldn't be a bad thing. They also had free fitness room with four without machines like bike, rowing, running and cross fit machines. It was only a 10-12 minutes walk to the closest metro station. The only slightly bad thing was that our floor was a bit dirty, and the fridge leaked a little water the first night. There's a big gas station that also sells food right next to the hotel. With the cost and everything taken into account we'd recommend this hotel to others because you get a lot of value for the money.

Easily reachable by car. Free underground parking. Nice and efficient personnel. Metro to Center at 10 or 15 mn on foot. Breakfast is ok. But poor aera (business park with no restaurants around ) good security. some dust on the fridge and on the Bible ☺

It was just for 2 days, my very first time in Amsterdam, and i really enjoy it. The receptionists were all nice and helpful. The house keeper cleans very well. Room was perfect. But my favorite was the ladies at the breafast during my 2 days, I saw 2 differents girls and they were so nice. I really want to congratulate the whole team.
