April 4, 2018 Mr. Bruno Correia Director of Operations Estrela da Luz Dear Mr. Correia, From February 1st to March 31st I had the most unbelievably positive experience residing at Estrela da Luz. After arriving and expecting to find a residence with senior amenities I realized how wrong I was. Your wonderful staff helped me acclimate to my unexpected situation. I knew I was not alone when, on the second day of my arrival, Ana called my room to make sure I was okay because she had not seen me that day. Thanks to Irina’s efforts I became a volunteer at Associacao Bamboo as a canine cuddler, offering me the opportunity to give love and attention to the beautiful creatures living there. In addition she arranged transportation to and from the sanctuary twice a week. How great was that? Your staff introduced me to Paula, a Pilate’s instructor, who agreed to give me private lessons twice a week to assist with my physical therapy. She was wonderful. The reception team, Joana, Abilio, Rafael, Pedro, and Ana arranged, within my capabilities, sightseeing trips of the area. And they helped me connect to Wi-Fi, aided me in the functioning of my computer and my cell phone, taught me how to turn on and off the dishwasher, washing machine and stove, made reservations for me, checked on grocery deliveries and orders from Baptista, and much, much more. Your staff including Beatrif, was always there for me with welcoming smiles, making me feel at home every time I entered the reception lobby. I’d like to give a big thanks to the housekeeping and maintenance departments who fulfilled my requests in a timely manner and to Rue, Maria and Samantha of Hugo Beaty for their warm hospitability and delicious food. My experience at Estrela De Luz was better than I could have ever imagined from the moment I set foot in the reception area for the first time until the day I left for home. I cannot express my sincerest thanks to your staff and to Estrela da Luz that I was happy to call home for two months. With much appreciation, Judith Morse 16 Indian Trail
The staff were very nice and helpful. We rented a good size apartment on the 1st floor. It had a lot of space. On the tv there were a few English channels (including BBC 1) so in the evening if were eating in we could watch some tv. The beds were not very comfortable but we got used to them. The indoor pool was slightly too hot (not very refreshing) and the outdoor pool was freezing! Overall all though the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and the location was very near the sea. Would definitely recommend🤩.
We have stayed in Luz as a centre for walking holidays for the last 6 years and the last 2 we have stayed in Estrela da Luz. It is a great location very close to the centre and the quality of the accommodation is excellent. Whilst probably a bit unnecessary the tight security on the site would probably be welcome for some visitors. The weather for this stay was less than ideal but fortunately with restaurants and supermarkets close by it was not a problem.
Luz is a beautiful little beach town in the Algarve - much prettier than many of the other towns with lots of high rise apartment buildings. The Estrela de Luz 3 bedroom apartment was perfect for the 4 night visit to the Algarve - clean, super friendly reception and restaurant staff, balcony with a pool and ocean view. It was a 5 minute walk to get to the water - 10 minutes to the beach. We enjoyed the walks to the water - finding a different way to go each time so got to explore the small side streets of Luz. Others might prefer to stay in an apartment that is right on the water.
My wife and I stayed here for 8 weeks Jan to March 2018. Very nice resort but could do with better management in making sure all amenities are working. Upon our arrival we were told jacuzzi was not operating but would be working in a few days. Eight weeks later still not working. This was one of the amenities that sold us on this resort. Very disappointing. Sauna was hit and miss for first 3-4 weeks and light never did work in the shower. On top of this the in door pool was very cold until several people complained upon which it did warm up slightly but on several occasions it would get cool again. Without water in our apartment for almost 24 hours. The management and staff were very indifferent to the issues. With improvements in these areas I would give it a 5 star but currently only a 3. Another suggestion would be better instructions on garage disposal, gate locks and usage of amenities.
I love estrela d luz. What a beautiful setting, what a fantastic location and such lovely apartments. The gym is superb! Such a delightful helpful staff, they could not have been better. I am dreaming about all the beauty of estrela and the surroundings. Many excellent tennis courts nearby as well, how great! I am eager to return!
From checking in I found the reception staff to be very rude and unhelpful. The first night I stayed at the resort I slept with the aircon on and woke up extremely sick. After 3 days I was still feeling very unwell ( turns out I had a throat, ear and chest viral infection - doctor said it’s possible that it may of be contacted from the aircon) I requested to speak with management and after coming to my room, they quickly assessed the vents and said they were perfect and that there was nothing that could be done. It was this poor customer service that made me very dissatisfied with the quality of my stay. Also things that should be noted, the jacuzzi in the resort was broken no mention of it being fixed. The hotel charges you for towels when you use the gym facility. The double beds they claim to have in the room are just 2 singles pushed together so you can be sure to have an uncomfortable nights sleep. Being sick for pretty much the entire week, this made things worse not getting proper rest.
Staff very helpful and friendly. The unit though did not have any view was clean and well furnished with the exception of the washroom The washroom definitely needs an upgrade. The gym at the resort was very well equipped.
Stayed here with my girlfriend back in June 2017 - The hotel was brilliant. Was looking forward so much after reading such good reviews & it certainly did not disappoint. The rooms where spacious and immaculately clean, everything you needed including a full kitchen & cooking facilities (if you want to have a night in). Staff where very helpful & friendly and helped us to organise our Kayaking trip which we would highly recommend! :) The location is perfect. Less than a 5minute walk downhill to the beachfront with all the restaurants etc. & the bus to neighbouring towns, wonderful place would happily stay again.
Estrela was my favorite place to stay when I was single and now that I am married with a 4 year old, it is, but even more so. It is located in the town of Algarve town of Luz, which makes it more like an inclusive resort, than just a great place to stay. Estrela itself has an indoor pool and fitness center. We use these ever day. Next to the indoor pool is a jacuzzi and a sauna. I dream about the indoor pool and sauna when I am not there. My favorite way to spend a day is to get up early, go to Baptista ( a local supermarket with fresh everything and its cafe has the best cafe com leite in the Algarve). I get locally baked fresh bread, oranges to make orange juice and ground Portuguese coffee. I go back to my apartment at Estrela that has a big, fully stocked, kitchen. I boil water for coffee, put the bread in the toaster, squeeze the orange juice and then bring my finished creation out to my veranda, with nice view of Luz beach, and soak up the sun (even in winter) will eating my wonderful breakfast. I read the local Portuguese News and do some journaling. I am in heaven. In about an hour I hear my family stirring and move inside to help them get their morning started. Bliss! During the summer months you can avail yourself of the 3 outdoor pools, as well. One just for adults and one just for children. There are always plenty of chaise lounge chairs and you can get large beach towels at reception. The staff at Estrela is among the nicest I have experienced anywhere. They are there to help. They have always made us feel very welcome. We have been back 7 times!!!
