My friend and I went here for our first meal (lunch) on arrival in town. We chose the Hotel Richmond due to its location and as we noticed the attractive balcony with people sitting al fresco. We were greeted in a friendly way and told to sit outside wherever we liked and to order at the bar when we were ready. The girl serving behind the bar was really nice and friendly and even offered to bring our water over as I couldn’t carry it. The food we had was nice - my friend the goat’s cheese tart and me the salt and pepper squid. Our wines were really nice too - both local wines - red and white. It was really busy while we were here; lots of people were clearly there for work Christmas do’s as it was during the lead up to Christmas and others appeared to be shoppers having refreshments or tourists like us too.

We held our wedding here and were extremely impressed with the service and facilities offered by the hotel. They made the whole experience really easy and we have had nothing but complements since. Included in our reception package was a night in their bridal suite and we were extremely happy with the room.

I often visit the Richmond for after work drinks on the balcony. Located as it is in Rundle Mall, the large first floor balcony offers a great spot to enjoy a drink with friends while enjoying the weather and the view. Serviced by a well stocked and staffed bar, service is always sharp, the prices are reasonable - particularly compared to other city ‘on trend’ bars

Chosen for location and based on reviews, I wasn’t disappointed. Comfy bed, quiet o’night, and yet right in the heart of the city. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. And their resident balcony bar was a great spot to while away the evenings

Loud thumping music went on past midnight. When I complained to the night manager she was rude and unapologetic about the noise. B&B offer consisted of a breakfast in the room which amounted to a small box of breakfast cereals, dried fruit, small muffin, tetrapak drinks (see attached photo). The toilet seat was badly fitted. Milk in fridge not replenished. Foul smell in the ground floor lift area.

The room was large with a comfortable bed and the bathroom had both shower and tub stocked with all the amenities. I stayed only one night but I was checked in quickly. The front desk lady did her best to accommodate me since I was not feeling well & needed to take a nap right away. The hotel was right in the middle of the shopping mall so I was close to everything including a walk to the Adelaide botanical garden where I spent a couple of hours away from the busy shopping center. The elevator was broken so they took me around the back. It’s under renovation so don’t expect a luxurious scene of the hotel. I had arranged a taxi for my early morning flight next day but another guest stole my ride and the hotel agent didn’t book another one for me instead of stopping the lady from taking the one I arranged. She made me walk a couple of blocks in hail & rainy weather to wait for Uber. I was not pleased with the front desk clerk in the morning.

Room was great and very spacious, good location for an interstate visit. However room was very noisy in the evening until midnight due to functions held at the hotel. Would have been better to have been informed of this at booking and/or have earplugs provided.

My husband and I stayed here around two months ago while we were in town. I must say that I was a little put off to begin with. The carpark wasn't that easy to find and the main lift was not working but we were greeted by a charming young man named Patrick. He and Michelle at the front desk truely made our experience at the Hotel an enjoyable one. A smile on their face every time we saw them and nothing was too much trouble. Patrick came to our car with us and helped us with our luggage and even took it up to our room while Michelle checked us in. Each time we saw them they were just wonderful. On our second night Patrick helped us with directions to an amazing Italian restaurant he recommended (Amalfis). If you are in Adelaide you must try and it is very close to the hotel. Michelle in the morning of our check our seemed to be under a great amount of pressure by herself but managed it all with a smile on her face. We did have one drink in the bar and the staff were lovely there too but they didn't have name badges so I couldn't get their names.

Had a lovely stay in The Richmond Hotel on Rundell Mall. So central to everything n Adelaide and we lived happy hour on the balcony overlooking the mall in the evenings. Room was lovely, clean and nicely furnished. Staff very welcoming and helpful. They rang for the airport shuttle for us and it was a 15journey to the airport.

This hotel is beautiful, however it is so poorly managed. We were staying here for a wedding being held at the venue. Many wedding guests were doing the same, as we discovered at 2pm when we arrived to check in. We had a twenty minute wait to check in due to all the other guests doing the same and the ONE staff member there to assist us all. How a hotel could put one staff member on at check in time, when they know they will have huge numbers of people to check in is beyond me, but that's how this hotel operate. Kim who checked us in was absolutely lovely, and did an exceptional job, though the poor girl looked so stressed. Once Kim was finally able to check us in and take our payment, she advised one of our rooms wasn't ready. It was now 2.30pm (30 mins after we arrived to check in, at the 2pm check in time). This was obviously an inconvenience, as we had to get ready for the wedding, but she was able to give us the swipe cards for all rooms, and we all got ready in the one room together and rushed out to the wedding ceremony. Side note: due to renovations, the main lift was not available, and we had to use the service lift, which felt as though we would plummet to our death at any second. After the ceremony as we were returned to the hotel we received a phone call stating the room was now ready - this was a 4.50pm, almost 3 hours after check in time. We went up to my room to grab the bags for the other members of our group to move into their own room that was now ready, only to discover that the swipe card wasn't working. We didn't want to get back in the terrifying lift again, so we rang the front desk to see if they could reset it. They couldn't but would come up with a new key. In the meantime, my sister went to check that her room card would work. She returned quickly, stating the card worked, but the bed was set up as a king, rather than two singles as requested (for two sisters sharing a room). Patrick from reception then arrived with the new card, and we thanked him, and asked to have the other room set up with two singles, as requested. He immediately said it was too late in the day to change anything. We told him that wasn't fair, as we had only been given access to the room 10 minutes ago. He said he couldn't do anything unless we went to reception, then turned around and walked off. My sister followed him down to reception, where he was extremely rude, telling them they hadn't booked it that way, and it was her fault. Eventually he agreed to get housekeeping in to change the room. When Housekeeping came up, they were absolutely lovely, so nice and helpful. We went to the wedding (which was lovely, the hotel does do well in that regard). The wedding went until midnight, however knowing reception closed at midnight, I left early in case of any issues. Lucky I did, as my swipe card did not work again. I rang reception, where Patrick said he couldn't come up, and I would have to come to the desk instead, and hung up on me. I got back in the awful lift, went down there, gave him my room number and he gave me a new card, without saying a single word to me. No apologies for the problem, not even a goodnight. What would have happened if I had stayed to the end of the wedding, and reception was closed? So to summarise: *Beautiful building, with nice rooms *Poor management schedule one staff member at a time *Cannot get rooms ready in time for check in *Cannot follow instructions regarding beds (or perhaps dont make note of them at all?) *Swipe cards continuously stop working *Patrick is incredibly rude and needs customer service training *Kim and housekeeping staff are lovely Also, just to further top off the whole experience, it's been almost two weeks and I am still waiting for my bond to be returned. Would never stay here again.
