The costs for this hotel surprised me, being right in the centre of Adelaide and, even though the rooms were a little "tired", the place was very good for the price. Walking distance to most of the cities attractions, bars, shops and restaurants.
The building is old, but the rooms are kept clean and tidy. It is in a good location, right in the middle of the city, but it can be noisy at night. The service is excellent, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
My fiance' and I was supposed to stay at this hotel back in May. We originally booked this hotel as the photos of the hotel were nice, the location was great, and there was parking which was a bonus, and as a plus the customer service was fantastic. However, that's where the positives end. We arrived at 8pm and had to deal with the Miller Apartments which is who owned the car parking, and they were more than helpful. We checked in with them and walked accross the road to our accomodation. We got to the 4th floor and to our room (402) from memory. It was dark with minimal lighting and our room had been left ajar. Upon finding the light switch, the room was an absolute disgrace! The bed was filthy, covered in stains, and the headboard had been engraved with what resembled a penis and some scribble. The lights on either side of the bed looked like they had begun to fall out of the wall. Our bathroom was not pleasant at all - it was clean, but not maintained. No shower curtain over a decent size spa bath, but the spa bath looked like something had tried to claw it's way out of it and didn't look clean. The room also had a stagnent smell to it. No apology was given when we booked straight out and into the Miller Apartments.
My brother and I stayed here for two nights to attend a family event. We just needed somewhere relatively cheap and close to Rundle Mall. I will say this: location wise it's great. Literally across the road from Rundle Mall, around the corner from the Casino, and there are tons of places to eat right at your doorstep. However! We had to check in quite late (10pm) and as the reception is not open after 7pm we had to check in across the road at one of their affiliate hotels, which was no problem at all. The problem I had was when we were told that the entrance to the building was down the alley and through the glass doors. There was wood boarding up the entire front of the building so it's unclear where to enter. There's also a liquor store right next door with some very rough clientele. Sitting in the dark of the alley were three VERY intoxicated men screaming abuse and carrying on. It was very unsettling. I was pleased I had my brother with me, if I was by myself there is NO WAY I would have walked down there!!! This was typical of both nights we stayed here as well as the mornings when everyone was rolling into the liquor store as soon as it opened. The accomodation itself was fine. Seemed clean enough and was comfortable enough for us it's just a shame about the area. After speaking with my family that live in Adelaide I was told that Henley street has a reputation for being a little dodgy. If you can get past that aspect it's a fine place to stay on a budget :)
Cannot fault this hotel for convenience. Two minutes walk to Rundle Mall, close to airport bus stop (Currie street). The only criticism, and not really a criticism but an observation, is the description of "luxury bathroom". Very small and dated but was ok for a short stay. Could do with some refurbishing but as I say, location amazing and really no big deal.
Stayed 2 nights.......the best thing about this hotel is the location, and the cost. The entrance is dingy and the staff were not that helpful. The bed was clean and comfortable and the shower was hot and it was quiet at night
excellent central location close to Rundle mall and food outlets, friendly, helpful and competent staff, comfortable room with all basic necessities, good value, easy to book, has lift for heavy luggage
We stayed here for one Saturday evening and were expecting it to be noisy!! We were not let down. Noise from both puts wide and inside the hotel were loud. The room itself was simple but pleasant although someone had obviously had a little fun in the bed as there were scratch marks and chunks taken out of the headboard which really looked quite tacky. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful although I was not informed of a bond being held on my card so when I looked at my statement the next day with 2 lots of room charge appearing to be taken I was quite annoyed!! It did correct itself but still would have been nice to know that was what was going to happen.
I had read mixed reviews about the Paringa but gave it a go because of its central location and good price, and was pleasantly surprised! Yes, the entrance is down a little alley but it's not dark and only around 20m off the main road. Perfectly safe. The reception staff were really friendly and my room, while not the most modern, was big and comfortable, with a separate living and sleeping area. I'd stay here again without any hesitation.
