El Encanto hotel is definitely a unique place with its very, very modern architecture. Everything is very minimalist, curved, and above all--painted white. This may not be for everyone and wasn't necessarily my taste (in terms of decor.) However, this hotel has the ABSOLUTELY BEST views of Acapulco and its bay than any other hotel--including Banyan Tree which I stayed at the following night. (See my review of the Banyan Tree.) I got a great price for this hotel and therefore was happy. The rooms are large and all have stunning views and their own balconies which is great. The general staff seemed okay--not super friendly but not unfriendly either. The staff at the restaurant El Origen were the best though--I was very impressed with them, definitely fine dining at decent prices. The rest of the staff could really learn how to improve themselves by following the examples of the restaurant staff--both at dinner and breakfast. Not to mention that the food is great! I liked the L'Occitane toiletries but the bathroom towels, especially the bath towels, were pretty worn out and no longer white and crisp--definitely time to be replaced! Even though this hotel is listed as a "VIP" hotel on Orbitz/Expedia for which I qualify, it was unclear if they give any type of VIP amenities--whereas the Banyan Tree gave an upgrade, a $50 food credit, and a $50 spa coupon. All in all El Encanto is a good choice and in terms of the view from its property up on a hilltop it far exceeds any other hotel in Acapulco (well, maybe tied with Las Brisas, from what I hear.) If you like or don't mind very modern, unique architecture and get a good price here then I'd recommend it.
If you are into architecture, this hotel is the place for you. Around every turn is an architectural surprise and we found ourselves wandering around just to see the hotel from every angle. Just amazing! The views of the Pacific and Acapulco Bay are wonderful and we found our pool suite to be very private, allowing for total relaxation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit secluded and you have to take a cab to get off the property for sightseeing, however, it was worth it. We would definitely stay here again.
You get there and it is imposing, you think you arrived to an incredible hotel. The architecture and rooms are beautiful, but then comes everything else: service is deficient, they charge you for everything in a ridiculous way. Overpriced even when you ask for a taxicab they overcharge 3 times the price. Service is slow. Prices ridiculous. Food very very mediocre. I will never return.
There is no doubt that if you’re visiting Acapulco there is no other option but to stay at Hotel Encanto. The service is personalized, the food is delicious, the views are beautiful and the villas are very private. I can’t wait to go back!
Great location. All rooms with ocean view. Ready to come back anytime Tasty food, good drinks great swimming pool close to many attractions great beach very good service and people who work in the resort
Enrique, the food, the pool, the solitude, and the view are 5 stars. If those are your top priorities, this is the best choice that I've found in Acapulco. If instead you want to be on the beach, you like lots of people milling about, and you enjoy night time entertainment, then there are other choices that you would probably prefer. We visit Mexico about twice a year and my wife is from Mexico. I am in my 60s, and we like evening shows, even if they are corny, and we like to dance at our hotel. We usually try 2 hotels during every trip to Mexico, and we often try one that may not meet our needs, but is highly rated on TripAdvisor. This was an example, and it was not the right fit for us. As for the room, others have mentioned the 2 steps down to the sunken bed and the very heavy 10 foot wide glass sliding doors. The architect prioritized form over function. I am very practical and prefer sliding doors that are easy to open, no stairs when I go to the bathroom at night, more outlets, more storage at waist high or above, cheaper taxis (others have mentioned that the taxis are about twice the going rate), and more space next to the sink. We have been to countless 5 star TripAdvisor hotels all over Mexico, and most guests would consider them to be 5 stars. I think that someone looking for exactly what Encanto offers would consider it to be 5 stars. However, if you don't read the reviews and you assume that it is 5 stars for everyone, you might be disappointed.
Beautiful view but very small hotel only 40 rooms that is far from any attractions. You will be stuck in hotel with limited menu in only one restaurant with the cost going through roof, 10.00 American $ for 32oz bottle water. Cold pool and spa. Impossible to walk to main road due to hilly road up to it. Hotel Taxi service will charge you 2 1/2 times more than normal cost $470 V. $200. Exchange $ will give you 6% less at hotel v. Airport. Triple check your charges daily as not only it is not in English also each item on the bill it’s charge as each and not as total and it is impossible to fighter it out due to many pages of charges as they charged us many times for same items. Remember there is 25 American $ per night resort fee!!!! Many other hotels offer same view with lot less nightly charges
Just the pros and cons ~ you decide friends... PROS: We visited Acapulco this Dec for a cousins wedding and decided to stay an extra week for our personal vacation. The Encanto was recommended to us by a family member and we had the time of our lives! This property is rated a 5 - BUT we would rate it a 6 STAR! We arrived to the Encanto Hotel at Night- The perfect time to experience this hidden gem! You can spot this hotel from the highway at night because its illuminated with blush pink lights- dazzling and breathtaking! My heart stopped when I realized this was actually OUR hotel#%&* The structure was built by a famous architect ~ Very M O D E R N! We were greeted by the Valets (Hugo and assoc.) and taken on a mini tour, provided with a refreshing signature beverage, and then to our Villa. I COULD NOT stop looking at everything - museum quality decor, hallways, verandas, and vistas.....WOW!!!!!! I would have been happy just taking the 5 min tour.....but the fact that we were actually staying here in this Garden of Eden - BLEW MY MIND!!! Our Valet swept us away to our "Pool Suite Villa" and explained everything! This was THEEE BIGGEST ROOM I have ever stayed in! AMAZING! I felt like a kid in a candy store and had to take a DIP in the pool ASAP! The Encanto features 2 restaurants plus pool side lunch service. The Food was Phenomenal......breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks! SPECTACULAR! I always try local dishes and drinks when on Vacay.....I recommend trying a signature drink while in the pool - they offer several! DELISH!!!!!!!! All staff members were incredible! ( fast and efficient service ) We have traveled all over the work and so far this is my fav hotel! I didn't want to leave!!! Room quality in Villa - Spacious beyond belief! King sz bed- comfortable mattress and pillows. HUGE bath room with attention to detail. EVEN MORE HUGE PATIO with day bed and personal pool...all overlooking the bay! SENSATIONAL!!!!! FAV Breakfast - poached eggs with hollandaise sauce - NECTAR OF THE GODS! ALL homemade jams on homemade artesian bread - forget dieting ladies, you MUST INDULGE AT THIS HOTEL! OH, and a WIDE assortment of hand squeezed natural juices! FAV lunch - Shrimp tacos and Pescaditas! A TRIUMPH! FAV DINNER - Catch of the day accompanied by Guayaba Flan for dessert! A special thanks to the Manager ~ Enrique who came out to greet us in person was humble and fantastic to talk with. Staff members ~ Irving, Candido and Cristian our servers in the evening - ALTHOUGH ALLLLLLLLLLLLL of the servers, front desk gals, spa staff, valets and the ladies that cleaned our rooms were FABULOUS!!!!!! * Misc fluffs ~ super nice sun hats for use by the pool, bug spray, books and magazines, cozy library to get out of the sun, unique pool design 1/2 in sun 1/2 shaded with beautiful trees, bar in pool, comfy chairs, lounge beds at pool, submerged deck in pool for lounging when hot, several hidden level and lounge areas within, great gym, spa, private neighborhood for morning jogs, and the OVERALL feeling of WELLNESS JUST BEING THERE! CONs ~ nothing serious..... My hot tips for the owners: As a business owner I like feed back from my clients so I may improve - so here goes....I beg you to change the music - the current music is very sad and depressing - the words to the songs evoke crying and a barrage of emotions ...all despondent. May I recommend - lite jazz, big band 1940's, bossa, chill, tango, or oriental massage music.....anything but what is presently being played. Every person I chatted with on the trip all said the same thing- they did not like the sad music. PORFA! Rooms are constructed with a sunken bed platform so you need to walk up and down 3 steps each time you wish to use the bathroom at night or move about your day in the room - if you are using the pool, then laying on the bed etc. I loved the room but did not care for the stairs. Thank goodness for the built in nightlights in the room or I would have tripped. Anyone with bad knees may have a hard time navigating this room. Patio glass doors are ex long and take up the entire length of the room - HUGE - they are very heavy and stick a lot - difficult to slide open and shut. They did not click in place much and if you do not have them closed perfectly - they AC goes off. I had to use a bath town to push them shut because they do not have handles. Strange. The Tv is equipped with surround sound - but we think who ever set them up put the speakers in backwards. ( the sound was only good from couch level not while in bed) Perhaps leave 2 ex towels by the pool chairs for when using the pool. (once they are wet - you do not have fresh towels to use after you take a shower. AND most importantly leave 2 extra floor towels out - ONE by the patio door to wipe your feel so you dont slip and 1 in front of the sink because its cold standing on a stone floor while getting ready. * We always keep our pool towels and floor towels the entire week and do not expect staff to wash them every day... also in order to conserve on water! Attention beach lovers- this property is not on a beach but they offer a shuttle service that will take you to their private beach club! We had the BEST experience at the Encanto Hotel, are happy to recommend the Encanto to friends and hope to return next year! Thank you all! Cheers!!
I've just spent a week at Encanto and it was amazing. The hotel is beautiful with stunning ocean views, its truly a tropical paradise! I came here solely to rest and recharge after a very busy year and it was the perfect place to do that. The atmosphere is quiet and tranquil and the few children I saw were very well behaved. The rooms are large and well appointed with beautiful views, and the grounds and pool are breathtaking. I ate all of my meals here and the food and drinks were very good in both restaurants and outside at the pool. The service is 5* and every staff member was professional and pleasant. Alfredo, Julio and Hugo in the Terazza restaurant and Candido, Irvin, Neftali and Christian in the Orignes restaurant were all excellent and especially helpful. It was a wonderful vacation and I will definitely return!
My husband and I stayed at the Encanto in August 2017 for our honeymoon. First I would like to say we had a terrible experience at the airport because my husband lost his luggage. So the ride to the resort was a quiet and angry one. When we arrived to the resort our mood immediately changed. We were greeted by the staff with ice cold drinks and a smile. The host at the chech-in stand were very accommodating, I was having some issues with my card and cellphone, they allowed me to use their phone and I was so grateful for that. Check in was great once we figured that out. We were escorted to our room by a staff member that spoke great English. When we walked into our room I immediately felt like a celebrity. The room was covered in candles and rose petals and a treat for our honeymoon. I was so grateful for this added service. We stayed in the pool villa. This was the best part of the resort, It was very intimate and romantic. We could have stayed in the room the entire trip and I would be happy. I loved everything about the room, the shower was very nice, bed comfortable, perfect view. The onsite restaurant and bar was very nice and the staff was amazing. They tended to us as if we were celebs. The resort was basically empty our entire stay so it felt very personal. We had a car service booked through Encanto. Our driver name was Carlos. He took us everywhere for the remainder of our trip. We did 3 days at Encanto and 3 days at another resort. Carlos made suggestions to us and drove us and picked us up everywhere. In a nutshell the resort was the highlight of our honeymoon. Thank you Encanto. I shared this resort with everyone I know.
