Cincinnati has a reputation for being a pretty city; as befits its nickname "Queen City". This cosmopolitan destination was built by German immigrants and retains strong links with its heritage, celebrating Oktoberfest and having certain linguistic quirks inherited from the German language.
Most of the sights of Cincinnati are concentrated in the downtown area. Over-the-Rhine, the city's historic district, is packed with interesting architecture, creative galleries, markets and musical venues. Take a trip up to the observation deck of the nearby Carew Tower for some fabulous views, and stroll along the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge. Cincinnati Zoo is well worth a visit, and is a popular destination for families looking to spend an afternoon exploring.
Flights into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) land around 20 miles from the city proper, but good ground transportation makes it easy to get to downtown. TANK buses run from 5am to midnight, or you could make the taxi journey for around $30.
Cincinnati is a very hilly city and has over 400 hillside steps to explore, for a very different view of the city. Don't forget to take in a Cincinnati Reds game at the Great American Ball Park on the downtown waterfront.
