Many people fly to Addis Ababa Bole Airport (ADD) as it is a key city for Ethiopia, home to the headquarters of both the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union.
Addis Ababa itself has a lot to offer, including the Africa Hall, homw of the UN Offices in Ethiopia, the Parliament Building, which as a beautiful clock tower and the Ethiopian National Museum, which is home to artefacts that are thousands of years old.
Addis Ababa has a mild climate year round and is fun to walk around in the main areas, just be aware that not all streets have names, so you may have to use local landmarks to navigate.
Walking gastro tours are increasingly popular and allow visitors to experience local foods, such as injera flatbread, and also tour the local fruit and veg markets with a helpful guide.
For a unique shopping experience head to Mercato; a vast outdoor market full of souvenirs - just be prepared to haggle! Aptly-named Souvenir Street is a good alternative for those who prefer not to haggle aggressively.
Addis Ababa Bole Airport is around 5 miles from Addis Ababa center. The airport is serviced by blue airport taxis and minibuses and cars can also be rented for a very reasonable price.
Yes. Once in awhile feel free to upgrade customers who seem interested
The processing at the Bole Airport was quite chaotic along with the flight running late.
Because this was attached to another airline as well I was not able to check in on-line. That was a little of a brain tease since it said that there was a problem with my flight so I could not check in. I can't remember the exact words, but they got me a little concerned.
Kenya Airways outdoes itself again. Arguably one of, if not the best African carrier.
It was my first flight with Qatar and I liked it. Great customer service, good food and flew timely.
The flight was late but was not full. The extra room made up for the lateness .
New plane! So nice and clean.
Swiss Air lost our luggage and Ethiopian couldn't retrieve for 2 weeks!!! sent it to South Africa!!!!
Baggage delayed over 1.5 hours in Newark! No updates whatsoever as to why. Total silence.
Enjoyed the flight
Staff are amazing. Business class with Flat bed seats was amazing.
