Casablanca is a bustling, cosmopolitan city that is the economic heart of Morocco. Often overlooked by tourists, it shouldn t be; once colonized by the French, Casablanca offers a great range of nightlife, bars and restaurants that give the city a European, lively feel.
By day, Hassan II Mosque is the biggest mosque in Morocco; breathtaking and well worth the visit. Other attractions are the Sacred Heart Cathedral and Museum of Moroccan Judaism. Moroccan Hammams, which are like Turkish baths, are dotted around the city, and great for getting a massage and mingling with the locals. The public beach is a great place to enjoy the climate, which is mild year round with very warm summers, but beware; swimming is not permitted due to riptides.
Getting around
After flying in to Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) you ll need to make the journey in to the city.. Train is a reliable option, with services leaving from the airport hourly between 6.50am and 22.50pm, or alternatively take a taxi at level 0 of the arrivals area, at a cost of around 20USD. Once in the city, the tram network is a cheap way to get from A to B.
