Check in was easy but room needed a few things to spruce it up. There was a small table on each side of the bed but only one light. I had to move a floor lamp to get light on the other side of the bed, but if someone wanted to sit in a chair and read then the lamp need to be moved back. The lights had 3-way switches but used single bulbs. If I'm paying that much for a room, you can afford to get 3-way bulbs! There was a plastic OJ lid on the floor and some other plastic film on the floor that stayed there for several days. The cleaning person should pay more attention to the corners of the room. The view was OK (partial view due to trees) but that's better than cutting every tree down. Convenient walk into town for dinner and shopping.

This is more like 3.5 stars. Room was very nice….spacious, outstanding view. But when the toilet can handle very little toilet paper and is kid-level (and there wasn't anything but toilet paper in there), we call for a plunger because there isn't one in the room. We are told we have to go get it from the bathroom by the hot tub....that's a floor above where we have to outside and then up some stairs, it's 12 degrees out. Not great customer service. My husband also got bed bugs....red, itchy spots when he woke up. Never had them before staying the night. One of the coffee mugs was clearly not clean. Would we stay again? Not sure. Would we recommend? Really not sure. For a one night stay, it was not terrible. But glad it wasn’t two nights with bed bugs.

We were unimpressed with the coffee pot in the room. There was only enough coffee provided for one cup. With the office rarely open, there’s no where to obtain more. As 2 seniors in our eighties it was difficult to manage our luggage up and down the stairs as we were place in the lower floor. Rooms are very small for $221.00 a night….

This was a perfect place to rest and relax after long days of hiking and traveling. Loved the deck with the river view, and really appreciated the hot tub reservations so that it wasn't crowded, beds were comfortable. Winthrop is a charming town and everyone there including hotel staff, was very kind and helpful.
