Stumbled on to a GEM!!!

We got to the door just in time as they were about to close. The girl at check-in was waiting with our keys and paperwork. She took us to our 4th floor room in the coolest old school elevator, employee only operated! The bed was incredibly comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. If we’re ever back in Wilmington this is where we’ll stay!

Small rooms and bathrooms, but not surprising for almost 100 year old hotel. Staff we saw were very pleasant. Continental breakfast w multiple options. Very clean. Would stay again.

They no longer had the breakfast at the restaurant on the first level and I was unhappy to learn about it. There were not many power outlets available.

The hotel is old but well maintained and charming. The rooms don't have some of the amenities of a modern hotel, like multiple outlets or mini frig, but was perfect for my stay. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast bar is 24/7 and well stocked. FYI on the elevator.. it is very old and can only be operated by staff so be prepared to use the stairs.

Historic hotel

Beautiful historic property with friendly, courteous and helpful staff. They had a game room we enjoyed using to play cards with friends. The food and service at the restaurant was very good

Loved the unique and historic qualities of the hotel! Rooms and decor were clean and thoughtful. The continental breakfast was well-done for a small space. Only issue was the lack of staff onsite and communication about the check-in/check-out process. Elevator not available without staff. It worked out but was confusing. Would still definitely go back!

Very disappointing

Waited 5 mins at check in finally went to find someone waited 45 min on food and they allowed a dog in the restaurant and it was not a service dog will not stay there again

Nice, clean, cozy, good value.

Room was very quaint, clean and comfortable. Decor was simply but nice. Bed was cozey with ample pillows. Nice touch that our room came with two bottles of water. Light continental breakfast had a wide variety of items along with some fresh fruit. The step up into the bathroom was a little odd. Wish they had shades versus mini blinds so the room was darker. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

A fine old property to stay for a great price.

Great old building with an elevator operator. Really nice kitchen area with food for breakfast, or any time. convenient parking. This is an old building, so do not expect a lot of modern frills. ai really enjoyed the stay here, and it was a great deal for the money.

Charm and quirks

100 year old hotel with charm and quirks. Low water pressure. No AC. Small rooms. Great restaurants. 24 hr snacks. Comfy bed.

Perfect location for visiting Wilmington. The area outside of the hotel was cute, but a lot of empty storefronts and closed businesses. There are church bells that go off at random times and for long periods of time. One morning we counted 42 very loud dings. No fault of the General Denver of course. Their staff at the front desk and restaurant were awesome and both hotel and restaurant were nice. If I go back to Wilmington, this is the only place I would stay!

We gave it a solid c out of a-f. We must have been above the kitchen. It was so noisy. We had people right outside our room having cocktails and we could hear their conversation. And the room was freezing to the point where we couldn’t even take a shower. We would not recommend this hotel.
