Service standards inappropriate

Service was weak. Rachel staff member told us different times/schedule of terraza’ hours. One staff member told us it would open @ 7, while the other told @ 7:15 that it would open much later. When confronted about the Information given to us before, then he looking bothered said: give me a few minutes & we will open. Waited 45 minutes, & no one ever would ask “how can we help you”. I found the staff not friendly enough. @ one time we greeted by saying hello, they didn’t even bother to acknowledge us. Cigarral del Alba is far superior

The stay started badly as we were told at booking that we could have two connecting rooms. whilst this was not possible. Apparently, the hotel had problems with the person that dealt with the booking which was no longer working for them. However, the hotel manager did the best to resolve the situation and gave us a suite and he arranged for two single beds to be put in there and the settee to be removed instead. He charged us for one room at the same price + a daily charge for only one child. I think this was more than fair. The hotel is beautiful. the views are stunning. It is a pity that the outdoor pool and bar are not organized better. The bar outside opens only in the evening, and therefore there is no pool bar. If bar was open, this pool and bar would be much more used in the afternoons.Sun beds at the pool are only a few. I think the hotel could and should improve these things. The restaurant's food was good and the restaurant has a terrace with views over the whole of Toledo.

Resort-like ambiance with an excellent restaurant and friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit outdated and need an update and maintainance. Located close to the city center if you have a car available. Too far to walk.

Travel Tips

The hotel and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The reception was a little cold, the front desk clerk was mildly unpleasant but ultimately helped us settle in. The view are stunning beyond compare. We were highly impressed. Didn't eat on site but found a few tips for those thinking of staying here (far warning, there are no stores nearby).... Because the location is somewhat secluded, you'll have to utilize a taxi if you have no car. The fare's vary (the taxi drivers often change rates depending on time of day, day of week, or holiday) and the taxi drivers do take advantage of tourism (some start the meter at time of dispatch to the hotel, rather then when they pick you up). Overall, it was a positive experience. The vineyard located directly adjacent to the hotel property is by reservation only ... Thee is a playground on site which was an added touch for family's... The town of Toledo is incredible!

Nice hillside hotel near Toledo

Very nicely situated and spacious hillside property. Convenient huge on-site parking, nice lobby, spacious rooms. Rooms definitely need some renovation - even though it's clean, you can practically smell the place is old and hasn't been refreshed. However, considering the location and room prices, I don't regret my choice and would definitely return there some day.

Lousy location without car.

The location as described on hotels.com website was to be 3 kilometers from city center. In fact it was approximately 10 kilometers. As the hotel staff said: you don't have a car?" The bus stop was 500 meters down the road. Taxi approx. 10 Euros. Also, staff had very limited English proficiency.

Great view

Wifi was shoddy which was frustrating, but the surrounding area was gorgeous and we had a great view of the city. It felt almost luxurious because of the view. It's a pretty hotel. Besides the wifi, the other thing I was disappointed about was the bathroom. It felt very outdated for such a nice hotel.

Do not stay here

the hotel is far away from all the tourism attractions. They have an amazing day view of the old city. The room was Horrible for a 4 star hotel (rated in the 90's) this needs a urgent renovation. My room was HOT we tried to turn off the heating system the front desk came over to help us and he was clueless about what was wrong with our room.. we slept with the window open hoping for no mosquito bites.

Hotel with View, Pool and Parking near Toledo

I was traveling by car with two 16 year old boys and wanted a triple room. The hotel was clean and welcoming. I chose it because it had free parking and a pool and was close to Toledo. The Noon to 8 pm hours for the pool were disappointing as I wanted to swim a lot, and we only were able to swim at 6, when we arrived and before heading to town, rather than after going to town, and in the morning. The staff were friendly and flexible in general, though, and the breakfast was varied and nice.

Needs Improvement

This hotel is in dire need of an update. The whole place smells like smoke because of the smoking rooms. The rooms are horrible with non functioning climate control. This hotel was maybe a 4-star hotel 20 years ago but it is surely not one now. Avoid this place until they update the accommodations.

What A View

Without a car you can get there, just take the local bus from the train station to the new hospital. The staff were wonderful with smiles that you rarely see in Catalunya. The views are worth spending several days in the hotel and walking around the city of Toledo. What a treat!
