Beautiful rustic yet updated farmhouse. We were here for a family reunion in the area and didn't spend much time in the Farmhouse besides sleeping and enjoying morning coffee on the screened in porch with great views of the nearby mountains. The steps are a bit challenging for those with older knees lol. Overall absolutely enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this as a peaceful getaway in a tranquil setting.

Great home base for hiking

We wanted a simple place to stay close to hiking, fishing and quiet. This was all of those. We were able to do a number of hikes as skyline drive and still come back for a hot tub and quiet evening. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well appointed. Exactly what we expected and wanted. Will stay again if we are back in the area

Rustic old house for a quiet get away with a great location

Overall, we had a great stay and would go back! The location is very quiet. It was great with our 2 dogs, as they had space to move inside and out. We went out hiking every morning and this was a great middle of the Skyline Drive location to go to any of the trails. But also all of the other sights and to different towns for restaurants. There is also a grocery store and a Walmart close by in Luray. You can't really see the river from the house in the summer, but the mountain view was gorgeous. And it's pretty to walk the trail down to the river. We saw deer every morning and evening in the fields as well (and twice right outside the door to the grill). Some things to note (and maybe I missed on the description):The rock driveway (which was noted) is long and narrow. The last half has a lump in the middle, and our van was dragging rocks with it, even at 5mph. We did try to ride the edge from then on, but there isn't much of an edge. It was better once there was less weight in the van. If you have a low riding vehicle this may not be the place for you, unless the the lump is fixed. The split units did a pretty good job of cooling the house, during a heatwave. They ask you to keep the temp at 75, which was OK for us. There are no units in the bedroom, so we had to use fans which were provided and keep the door open to blow the air in.The spot down by the river is not private. I assume it was people from the other houses on the driveway that came down to use it.

Just hung around and relaxed

The house was charming inside and out. Our dogs enjoyed having lots of places to run. We made a quick trip for groceries the day we arrived and then a trip into Luray and stopped for some ice cream (delicious). The house was spacious with lots of room to just 'be'.

We had an extremely relaxing stay. The area is gorgeous…loved being close to the water. We brought our dog and it was great to let him run and play and just be a dog. Did have a few issues with a few appliances, but the host was super quick to bring a new remote and coffee pot. All in all we would stay again!

A True Getaway

If you are looking to step back in time / this is your place. A 1900s farm house located an easy walk to the River. The house has a huge kitchen, living spaces and 2 bedrooms. We stayed in the room facing the mountains a perfect view! Our pup Skye the world was his oyster, running, rolling, wading and loving life! The fire pit near the river was unprotected on a windy day so we used the one next to the house. A lovely end to the day. The WiFi, and TV were sort of spotty, so just relax and enjoy nature.

Amazing property

This is our 2nd time here and we plan on coming back. The property is secluded but close to all the area attractions and places to eat. The kids had a blast running around all the open space and playing in the river. The cool nights were perfect for relaxing in the hot tub and looking at the night sky. Would recommend to anyone. The house was clean and correspondence with the owners was easy and timely

Solitude

This has an old farmhouse vibe. We really enjoyed our stay. The pictures in the listing are accurate. Easy walk to the Shenandoah River. The farmhouse is at the end of a gravel road and very secluded. Just what we were looking for. We watched about 20 wild turkeys hunting for food in the morning and saw many deer at all times of the day.
