Nestled in a private, secluded neighborhood surrounded by the Shenandoah River-South Fork, our cabin offers a peaceful escape with all the comforts of home. Relax on the huge deck, unwind in the spacious hot tub, or cook up a feast in our fully outfitted kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, grill up some delicious meals on the gas grill, and gather around the fire pit for a memorable evening under the stars.

Lone Bear Cabin is conveniently accessible via a one-mile, relatively flat gravel road from the main highway. During major snowstorms, an AWD vehicle may be beneficial. We have a Chargepoint L2 Charging Station, perfect for guests driving electric or hybrid vehicles. This ensures that your vehicle is charged and ready to explore the beautiful surroundings.

Enjoy seamless self check-in at Lone Bear Cabin, allowing you to arrive at your convenience between check-in and check-out times. Early check-in (before 4 PM) may be available based on availability, confirmed by 9 PM the day before check-in. Late check-outs are not available to ensure the cabin is ready for incoming guests.

Our community provides two private river access points for renters—the first 0.9 miles away with parking available, and the second 1.2 miles away for drop-off and pick-up. Enjoy tubing for about two hours or kayaking for about 30 minutes between these points.

Our fully stocked kitchen has plenty of utensils, cups, pots, plates, silverware, and dishware. We provide sheets, bath towels, large beach towels for the hot tub, soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent. AT&T provides LTE connection, and guests have reported good connections with Sprint and T-Mobile. A house phone is available for your convenience. Enjoy fresh well water from our state-of-the-art filtration system, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

To maintain a pet-free environment for guests with allergies, we do not allow pets. The indoor fireplace is gas, so you won’t need firewood, but please bring your own for the outdoor fire pit. Respect local burn bans from February 15th through April 30th each year to protect our National Forest.

Relaxing stay at a fantastic house!

Had a fantastic stay. The house is lovely and well stocked. We loved the pool table. Didn’t use the hot tub- but it’s huge! The location was great- spent a few days enjoying Shenandoah and also went to Luray and Front Royal. The views from the house are amazing. It was nice to just relax at the house and take it all in. We also enjoyed working on a puzzle in front of the fireplace. Would definitely stay again!!

Wonder Stay at Lone Bear Cabin

We had a great time at Mark's cabin in the wood of VA. Location we quiet and tranquill. Hot tub, five pit, and pool table made out time at the cabin enjoyable. Away from the cabin it was close to the National Park, Luray Caverns, and some cute small towns.

Late winter hiking

Fantastic place to stay as home base for hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Quiet comfortable location, 20 minutes to Front Royal, 30 to Thornton Gap via Luray. Views from the porch were stunning. WiFi worked great for the half day of office work. The beds were comfy, the home luxurious after a day of winter hiking. Great owner who was very responsive.

The Perfect Stay!

We had an amazing time at Lone Bear Cabin. The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The HUGE hot tub was amazing, and we really appreciated Mark's proactive communication. He called us to let us know about a coming snow storm to make sure we had four wheel drive, had someone come out to the house before arrival to salt the outdoor space, and he was super responsive to our few questions. Highly recommend, 10/10 stay, no notes!

Great Mountain View and near River Home!!

Excellent home for 2 adults and 3 kids under 10. Had room to hold many more!!! Views great, can walk to river area, and Hot tub is huge!!! Would’ve rated it a 11 out of 10 but the 500 piece cabin puzzle only had 496 pieces with one edge piece missing…you can understand the struggle. Hahaha. Will definitely come back.

Fabulous Fall Hideaway!

I stayed at Mark's cozy cabin with family to enjoy the regional fall foliage and nearby activities. It was incredible to wake up to stunning views of the mountains every morning with deer grazing outside. The working fireplace also heated up the cabin in no time whenever we got chilly. While it was too cold for us to kayak, we still enjoyed taking in the beauty of the river- what a serene neighborhood! This was also a great location for venturing out to local attractions like Luray Caverns and Showalters Apple Orchard. We did experience some complications with using the EV charger for our vehicle, but Mark was super responsive-explaining there had been a recent change to the electrical system-and gave us access to the garage so we could plug our adapter into another outlet (there are also plenty of charging stations in the area). The fancy hot tub was a nice treat at the end of the day. We honestly wish we had stayed longer!

Quiet getaway with everything you need!

Our choice to get a few days away during the week was a nice one! Not to far from downtown Luray. Beautiful, comfortable layout with a nice kitchen. Morning coffee comes with a great view. Deer, other animals freely roam about. Just two of us but easily room for more.

Great Short Stay

This property lives up to the description and the good reviews. It's an easy place with plenty of info. If you are not hiking or paddling you will want to live on the deck, an incredible place for a cup of coffee in the early morning as the sun hits the mountains before the valley. Hard to believe we were in such a remote and private place so close to DC.

Such a wonderful home away from home. I can't say enough good things about this house. I would recommend driving the extra 10 mins to eat out in Front Royal v Luray. We really enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub, pool table and overall quality of the rental.

Family stay for a local wedding

The cabin was impeccably clean on our arrival! With sweeping mountain views from every window and a cozy, well-decorated interior what's not to love? The fireplace and hot tub were great amenities and the beds were super comfortable. The river can be heard from the deck and the night sky is truly spectacular with views of the Milkyway. Would love to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Shenandoah Valley!

Perfect getaway for peace and quiet

There’s not much else I can say that everyone else hasn’t said. The place was spotless, great hot tub, great views. A perfect place to get away and relax after a trip to Shenandoah. We would definitely stay here again!
