Good for a night

Good basic hotel for a short stay with no frills. Little way from the centre (about 20-25 mins) so you need a good pair of walking shoes and to be okay with being out for long periods. Some noise in the street but not too much when we stayed. Room clean and tidy but quite small. Car park was good option as there is no free parking on the streets that we could see

Convenient place to stay in Palma

The location of the hotel is convenient, 10 min from placa Espanya / the stop for the Soller train; easy access to the old town and nearby a street with lots of restaurants and cafes, cinema. Staff is pleasant and helpful, although some didn't speak English that well. Looks like the hotel has been renovated recently and the beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious, price is ok for the location, the rooms also have a balcony. However, cleanliness can be improved further (found a number of hairs in the bed and the bathroom, and onion peels (!?!) in wardrobe). The residential street the hotel is located on is generally quiet but on the weekend nights there can be some drunk people outside shouting. If you are a light sleeper, better get earplugs as noise can be easily heard from the other rooms and the street. It will be better if the hotel puts a ticketing system in place for the storred luggage, as when you leave the luggage there is no receipt to say that this is your piece of luggage (so anyone can claim to say that it is theirs). I had the Do Not Disturb sign on all the time, however, staff still came in the room whenever I was out, to turn on the air conditioning. I didn't like that as it was not that warm weather anyway, and the DND sign should be respected at all times.

I found Hotel Abelay to be spotlessly clean and within easy walking distance from the old town and bus stops to other areas of the island. The are many restaurants, cafes and bars in the immediate area (all frequented by locals and away from the touristy parts of Palma). Throughout my stay I found all the members of staff to be very friendly and helpful. This hotel is only rated as a 2 star, however it looks like it had been recently renovated and the roomwas spacious with a neutral decor. I had one of the rooms facing the road and as an added bonus it appears that the rooms on this side all have a balcony for some outdoor space. A safe in the room would have been a nice feature to have had.

Good, clean modernised reasonably priced hotel

Very good, reasonably priced hotel with excellent customer service. We received a friendly welcome and given lots of information for our stay. Rooms are spacious, minimally furnished but with everything required for short stay. Lovely modern shower cubicle and soft towels and free toiletries. Good wifi. Breakfast not great, no eggs, but is included. Lovely croissants. Restaurant next door does a fantastic lunch 3 courses, bread and carafe of wine €9. A little far from main square where airport bus drops off, but walkable 15 minutes.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. First of all, the room we stayed in looked nothing like the pictures and was more of a “college dorm room” than a hotel. The beds were not very comfortable. The most bothersome though was how thin the walls were and the amount of construction going on. There was hammering and drilling from all sides starting at 9am. When I went to complain, then said it would only be 10 more minutes. It went on all day. Was also very disappointed that the front desk never said that there was a fee for parking when I asked, but at the end they charged us. The only good thing was that breakfast was included.
